Had to go to the hospital last evening. The missus fell over backwards and hurt her wrist. Mercifully, just a strain after all, but a bit of a scare to say the least.

Thanks, Fox. She fell back hard and then, when she got up, she was extremely dizzy and had to sit back down again for a bit. Then, when we got to the clinic, they didn't have an X-ray tech on duty. So we went to another clinic and, again, this time it was the "Tech's" day off. So we finally just went to the hospital where, fortunately, there were only a couple of folks ahead of us in the ER.

Hospitals are just another rank in the cavalcade of crises in the United States - sadly, they are increasingly swamped with people, understaffed, and some of the patients are a bit difficult (or worse). As a result, there's been a growth of these clinics seeking to attract patients who are reluctant to go through the waits and aggrevations of a hospital ER. They've helped the situation but there are complications with them as well.

Glad to hear Mrs Weston is o.k. and it was nothing too serious, hoping she is fully recovered and up and about, it galls me how bad healthcare seems to be getting the world over, medical science is making leaps and bounds but the number of people that can receive it seems to be dropping. I am forever thankful for the National Health Service over here, I think it is something that is much maligned and people tend to take it for granted that we can get access to healthcare when we need it without an additional charge, it will be sorely missed if it were ever to go, the only winners would be the rich and the companies I fear. There are no very few free access Dentists where I live, a sorry state of affairs.

Pleased you are on the mend Amazee, my advice, don't rub those eyes!!

Thanks, Harry. We're good this afternoon - the missus' still has a sore wrist but nothing inapacitating. Thing is, at our ages and stages, falls are almost always causes of breaks, fractures, twists, and organ damage. But, mercifully, not this time.

I got summond for jury duty once. So I went to the Laurinburg courthouse to sign in with the clerk and acknowledge my responsibility. Well, the clerk had stepped out for a while and, after waiting "a while" (an hour plus !), I started wandering around to kill time. Well, there was a courtroom door open and some kind of proceding going on. Being bored and curious, I walked in and sat down just to watch. No one else was there but for the judge, the lawyers, and a couple of police officers.

So, all of a sudden, his honor notices me and asks "Sir, who are you?" So, I told him. Hiz honor immediately had me escorted out and taken to the clerk's office. Apprarently, the proceduring concerned the case on which I was supposed to serve as a juror and I was now "contaminated". This time, the clerk was there. He promptly informed me I was excused from jury duty with the thanks of the good citizens of Laurinburg and to have a "nice day". "Couldn't you assign me to another case?" I asked. "No," I was told. "You're excused for the year and likely won't be called up again for a very long time since you're now at the bottom of the rotation."

So, maybe you'll get "contaminated", Amazz, and won't have to serve. (Don't worry - it washes right off with a warm shower and a little soap. ;) )

I would be worried that if I go and do that I might end up getting held in contempt of court or something and I couldn't really cope with being in trouble with the law. Knowing my luck if I did it I would probably be arrested. >_>
