Terribly sorry for your loss, Weston.
Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, “I did not laugh.” But [The LORD] said, “Yes, you did laugh.” - Genesis 18:15 (NIV).
Re: Joys And Sorrows
Deepest thanks, trek, D-Rock, and Harry. Been a bit of a year, I'd say.

Re: Joys And Sorrows
Anger/Sorrow: My employer just fired two employees because “business was slow and we didn’t need as many people” then he asked other employees to cover their shifts. Oh, and he left an employee alone in the store, without telling anyone, which is not very safe. She was fortunately, able to call in the assistant manager and another employee.
Confusion: My cousin set fire to her oven again.

My sympathies Trekkie, sounds like a typical ploy to save money by getting people to do two peoples jobs, happens all too often, no doubt they'll get a pay rise for increased efficiency next. Your cousin sounds like a bit of a fire risk!
Really sorry to hear your latest news Weston, my sincere condolences.

My regrets for your situation, trekkie. Sounds like worker well-being is not front-page in the company management guide. Sheesh, they pull stunts like this and then wonder why they can't find employees ...

Or maybe they think if people quit they can replace them with ANYBODY desperate enough for a job.

... or Robotics wnich is becoming something of a cult in management these days. Ironically, filling lowest level jobs is becoming difficult lately because people not longer want to risk getting Covid (yeah...that's still A THING!) to work for chump-change.Amazee Dayzee wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 11:19 pm Or maybe they think if people quit they can replace them with ANYBODY desperate enough for a job.

Re: Joys And Sorrows
My brother was diagnosed with appendicitis. We’re currently at the ER, but he’s being transferred soon to a nearby hospital for the surgery. Doctors said that it should be a relatively simple procedure, the scan has shown that it hasn’t burst yet.

That's not good. My family always had a history of stomach related illnesses, so I understand what it's like for you. Thoughts and prayers.

Re: Joys And Sorrows
Prognosis sounds good, D-Rock, but my prayers for him - surgery is still surgery.
Re: Joys And Sorrows
Thanks, not much to update on yet, so just sharing from Discord:
My dad and I went home for the night yesterday, brother was mostly complaining about stomach pains when we left. Frankly, these pains were how we learned things were more serious than we thought. He initially thought it was constipation due to gastritis. Granted, no, he doesn’t drink enough water. No update from the hospital this morning, so my dad is going to see him. I might join him later.

Uncertainty: My orthopedist is saying that my spine is no longer the reason for my pain and it is now a joint issue. I just hope that it can be resolved.
Re: Joys And Sorrows
Joy: I finally got my new laptop to replace my laggy old machine with a useless battery.
Re: Joys And Sorrows
Spent the whole afternoon wrestling with phone carriers. So, um, tell me again, Mr. Cardiologist, about the importance of avoiding stress.
Re: Joys And Sorrows
My brother’s back home! He still has a lot of recovering to do, doctors want him off work for the next two weeks.

I never really thought of myself as being popular. But then again I am the only female working in seafood.

Just ... meh. After a day of wrestling with technology, just ... meh. Like my old first sargeant used to say, "You just keep telling yourself ... this ... "stuff" ... ENDS!" No, he used a different word that "stuff", but ... oh ... right ... meh.
