My mom found this spider in the hall yesterday. It's a Geolycosa vultuosa, in my language it's called pokoli cselőpók, pokoli stands for hellish as its bite is quite painful.

Really nice job on all of the pictures that everybody posted here! We have some real professional photographers it seems! ^__^

Where are you (and I guess your Mom and the spider) from, Chieris? That does look like one ominous arachnid (and an excellent photo thereof)!

From Hungary. There aren't too many venomous spider species and this is one of them. I even held it on my hand and was not afraid about it biting me (mostly because I only looked up after letting it go in the garden). For some reason I like big spiders so this got me interested as it was a huge one compared to the cellar spiders that I always see in the house

At least you were able to help it to go where it had to. Quite honestly, I would be more worried if it was a spider in AUSTRALIA. The land where everything tries to kill you.

Agreed, Australia's wildlife is terrifying from what I've heard of it. It's not even just animals either, the trees can hurt you!
I was quite shocked to learn that Eucalyptus trees explode if struck by lightning or burnt, due to the oil in them.

In terms of photographs, took this with my Samsung Galaxy, a pic of my big project just after my friend and I pulled it out of it's resting place of 22 years and washed it:

...Can anyone tell me how to actually show an image here? I'm having no luck with links.

I used to joke that Australia is where God dumps His rejected animal designs. They actually banned an episode of Peppa Pig of all things there for teaching kids to be friendly to spiders, because..... you know.

If I ever have to go to Australia, I'm seeking out Furr so he can teach me how to NOT die because I wanna live at least until my 90s.

Hey, to be entirely fair, MOST things will explode when hit by lightning :P

If you want to know about a terrifying tree though, look up the gympie-gympie.

To answer your other question, there are two ways to share an image. You can either use the [img] tags with an url between them, provided that the url ends in a file type such as .jpg, .gif, .png, etc., or you can upload the file directly using the "Attachments" tab found below the box where you type your replies. If you upload it directly it does need to be smaller than 7MB though. Note that you can't use the [image] tags because that only links to an image already stored on our site. If you want to use the buttons in the toolbar above the reply box, you want to click the little picture frame, NOT the word "image". Hope this helps, but if not feel free to reply or to shoot me a DM if you need more info.

Thank you oh so very much on that reply, you've helped immensely.
And yeah, it really does seem to be that power armor is one of the safer ways to explore Australia. Shame it hasn't been produced yet. :)

So now that I know how to work this stuff, here's a pic of my Mazda project:

Here's a couple of pictures of optical phenomena. More specifically, they are arcs caused by hexagonal ice crystals refracting sunlight. I annotated the one showing three of the different arcs you can get, though they are somewhat faint. They are the inspiration for my OC, Aureola, and her halo https://www.deviantart.com/nleonardo87/ ... -925897452

Yesterday there was a nostalgia train pulled by a steam locomotive on Budapest Children's Railway. It's a 11.2 km (~6.96 miles) long narrow gauge railway line between Hűvösvölgy and Széchenyi-hegy and all of the posts (except the train driver) are operated by children with adult supervision. The locomotive is a 490 series steam loco built by MÁVAG in 1942 (or 1950, I'm not sure whether it's 490,039 or 490,056)

Great photo, like narrow gauge, been on a few over the years and the smell of steam, smoke and oil is always atmospheric.

have to say that when I saw the picture from a distance I thought there was a face on that train. Taking a closer look it doesn't seem as scary as that. XD

Really does look very obscured with no light coming through at all in the first picture. Good thing that it did clear up real quick because that could have been dangerous.

the thunderstorms finally are coming through and here is a picture of lightning i got. the other few pictures are too big to be added so i will have to do something about that. but otherwise i present literal electricity in the sky. (also the squares arejust part of the window screen)
