Nice, now thats a blast from the past! Love the old style joysticks, reminds me of sport games where you had to wiggle the joystick at a certain pace to run or ski etc. (Actually broke a joystick once doing that)

Activision Decathalon was the game where you had to wiggle the stick I think.

The only joystick I remember wiggling around in my childhood was the one for the N64 in order to play the specific game I was focused on.

At launch? Yes but it's one of those amazing ComeBack Stories in the gaming industry that very seldom occurs (R.I.P Anthem and Battleborn)

Everybody loves a good comeback story even if it is from a game! I'm sure that it was fantastic!

Ah, Okami. I've played and finished that a few times. Not to 100% completion, though. I could never beat that hidden final wall guy. Too many dots to remember, and it kepts changing the locations every time.

I agree that Okami is a beautiful game and pretty unique with the brush mechanic too. It's definitely one of my favourites.
However I've seen certain Youtube reviews of the game have some gripes with it, though those gripes are rather strange.
Namely, saying it's a button masher, which it is if you just mash the attack button to hit enemies, but there were a lot of enemies where you gotta use a brush powers to even be able to hit them, and the game literally rewards you for defeting enemies that don't require special defeat conditions using multiple different powers and attacks.
Another gripe I saw is that you have to fight the same bosses twice (three times for one of them), which, yeah, you do, but Okami's not the only game guilty of having you fight the same boss/es multiple times, and those same gripers seem to like other games that have that while disliking Okami. It's weird.
I played the PS2 version...and yeah, the PS2 controller is obviously not designed to be a paintbrush, but it's manageable. Apparently the Wii version had some issues registering the controller's input for the paintbrush.

Okami definitely deserved a lot more success than it got.

I agree, I don't think those criticisms are warranted, yes the battles can get a bit samey but it's so original in other ways that it can be forgiven for that, also the look and feel of the game is fantastic, love the whole theme and style. The characters in it are memorable too. I have the WII version and the paintbrush works fine (can be infuriating at times though, the bit with Mr orange blossom (I think that was it) was particularly hard to do and no way to skip or get back to a save!

It so needs a sequel. Lets face it who doesn't like running around as a magic wolf ?! (kind of the reason I bought Zelda for the WII, another great game but got stuck! )

It did get a sequel actually, called Okamiden. It was exclusive to the Nintendo DS. You play as Okami's young offspring, called Chibiratsu. Despite Amaterasu's efforts to rid the land of evil in the first game, evil has returned to plague the land once again, and it's up to Chibi to stop it.

Unfortunately, due to the game's exclusivity and even LESS promotion than the original got, it fared even less well in sales than the original Okami did.

I would so love to see more magical wolf games out there, but I imagine Okami and Okamiden's lackluster performance has scared off any developers from trying the idea again in any capacity.

Zelda Twilight Princess did do a lot better, yes, but not well enough to help the idea really grow and spawn new magical wolf games or any other magical animal games for that matter.

I would LOVE a magical fox game.

Have you seen spirit of the North for the PS5? Not got a PS5 so not played it, looks pretty good though from the trailer.

Oh hey it reminds me of a similar game I saw at one point where you play a spirit wolf that can shapeshift into different animals and solve puzzles to progress through the level and the story...hang on... *Google-fus*

2) I don't have a PS5 right now either and I don't think I will for the forseeable future due to some long term financial issues. Financial issues so long term they prevented me from getting a PS4 as well. I grew up with the Playstation 1 - 3 and I shall remain a loyal Playstation supporter till the day I die. So I'll have some catching up to do when my financial issues finally ease.

Lost Ember, I remember seeing the trailer for that, looked an interesting game, I've only got a PS3 and can't really justify getting a PS5 so a bit of a pipedream for now, they both look pretty cool though. The idea of being able to swap between different animals seems quite neat, an underused game mechanic I think. Brings back memories of Wonderboy III for the master system (going back a bit!!)

Kinda wanna get Skyrim since the 10th anniversary is coming up. Is it any good?

I think it’s okay, especially if you’re more exploration-minded. I’ve never beaten it, as there’s just too much to do, but the modding scene can be pretty cool.

I didn't think that it was the sort of game you could beat. I figured it was almost like a day-to-day game where you do any sort of missions you stumble upon.

There are two main quests, the return of the dragons, and the civil war that your actions determine the fate of. After all of that, not much really changes. Any factions you join will still have randomly generated quests to fill your time.

Liked Skyrim, alas, little time to play it at the moment. The mods looked fun.

I play on console, so my selection of mods are limited just to those that Bethesda felt would be best on their services, but I’ve come across several others that were never ported. And since I had the Xbox version, there were more varieties of mods available, as Sony restricted mods to only those that didn’t use outside resources, so nothing like weapon imports, custom races, new textures and the like.

I've been playing Biomutant for that sorta open-ended RPG itch and honestly I think I like it more than any other I've played.
Maybe be a there's a much bigger emphasis on combat and action.

Not heard of that one, I like a good rpg, still missing eternal sonata since we finished it, why no sequel!!

Anyone come across Spiritfarer? Looks intriguing, I love the style of it, tempted to get it. The theme may not be for everyone (helping spirits reach the afterlife), a bit macarbe I guess but it looks like it has it's heart in the right place. The Deer chatacter looks enchanting.

I sort of figured if it was a deer character you would end up being enamored by it. Just call it a hunch.

How did you guess.... o.k. I 'll admit, it's true, I may be somewhat biased towards Cervids (and Canines of course!)

Just something about the animation and feel of this game makes it look intriguing, good to see such a character focused game (not always my thing but in this case it looks worth further investigation).

Yes, there is a bit of a lack of Husky type Pokemon I feel. Houndoom looks a bit scary to me!!

It's up there. Ninetails was my favourite for a long time, almost the whole time since the original 151, until it got dethroned by my actual current favourite.

Halo Infinite...FINALLY! 343 made a GOOD HALO GAME (Multiplayer's good too but the crossplay is ruining it)! First time I had fun playing Halo since Halo: Reach back in 2010! Also checked out Aliens Fireteam Elite on GamePass. It's OK. Not good, just OK.

I got it a couple weeks ago and it’s a really fun experience (although I am kinda terrible at it) and I’m glad to see there are others on the forums who like it as well! I feel like I picked a good time to start playing Halo.

Maybe now they will finally begin to start making more enjoyable games.
