I completely understand if there's some apprehension because I'm brand new here. I've read everything Hlaoroo has posted regarding RPing here and I have a pretty good handle on what to do/not to do. That being said, this will be my first time RPing on a forum so if I do something wrong please make sure to let me know. The last thing I want to do is ruin everyone's good time.
Not gonna join this, just want to say this reply is lovely and if you join into any of the other RPs I hope I get to interact with you. And here’s me properly saying hello to you postcard

Thanks, Gameb18oy! Nice to meet you. I don't want to spread out my attention too much before I get the hang of things, so I'm probably just sticking with this one for a while. Once I get more comfortable I might start looking at other RPs.

Leafolawl, we know Luka Powell's full name, so you might as well put down his last name on the character list thingy, whatever the hecky it is. (Stupid autocorrect)

It's a character list, yeah. Most just say "add it to the opening post", but you're not wrong with yours. It's an "Either one works" situation.

I just don't feel one name is enough to edit it right now, but it will definitely be added next time I edit it.

Hey, Myrra, there's a recruitment process for all the roleplays.

I in particular use the process for brainstorming so I can make new things for the players(for when that comes up), and so I can keep exotic pet species to things that are allowed in the city. So, while I appreciate the interest, please read the OOC thread before posting in the future.

Actually, you made the poke after the turning point. I'd just been too fevered or tired to focus on literally anything, even as much as I wanted to.

Sorry everyone, just realized it had been almost a month since my last post.

I don't know how often I can post in the near future because I have some things to deal with (mostly good). This RP is pretty slow right now so it shouldn't be too much trouble to keep up. Leafolawl, don't hesitate to give me a poke if I'm falling behind.

I didn't think a poke would be needed right at that moment, as Charleston was eating and until now not actively involved in the conversation, especially with the slow pace we seem to be using. However, I'll be sure to make checks with you every so often when you haven't posted.

I hope whatever your engagements IRL stay mostly good though.

Since you guys are having fun with this, I'm going to start an "altered Subject Line" tally.

"Edgy City"

furrygamer793: IV
Roarin: II
RandomGeekNamedBrent: I

I'll update this every once in awhile for fun.

Charlie doesn't know Bear well. He's just trying to be helpful given the circumstances.

Hey, just a group-wide check in. It's been about two weeks since anyone has posted, so I figure I should ask and see if I need to clarify something, or if it's simply a moment where there should be a gentle reminder.

I know school came back in recently, so that might be a factor, but I still figured I should check.

Sorry everyone, I fell ill not long after Christmas, and then a week-long event fell upon me.

I'd also like to apologise because I don't feel I had Skya be clear enough. She never said "don't talk", which I think is what everyone seems to have gotten. She was trying to not have everyone talk to her at once, pushing all the stories. She's after the details, not the outlines.

This is also my first time leading one of these. If you have suggestions on how I can improve, I'm listening, but even with that I might need to do some figuring it out.

Postcard has also sent me an apology as they don't have the free time to participate at all, and is as such dropping from play, with the hope of returning if time opens up for it.

Welcome back Leaf, hope you're feeling better.

Unfortunately, with Postcard dropping and Buster seemingly left the forum, the RP might need to recruit more people before we can pick up the pace again, I think including you, we have 5 left (me, Roarin, you, brent and Furrygamer)

As for suggestions, perhaps for now everyone can take their food and sit back down on a table and Skya can start asking questions?

Five is all I need for this chapter, and ostensibly less (technically as few as one) in the active danger zones for later ones. I can get this back in motion.

I also meant suggestions on how to improve my overall G.M.ing, but I'll take that too.

I think you're doing pretty good, and I think 5-6 players is a good number when it comes to stuff like this. I remember a few years ago when I tried GMing Terra Ridge a couple times I found it a bit overwhelming to manage with even four or five players! And even though I failed, there were a couple things I found that helped during my time as GM (and hopefully they can help you too!):

1. Promoting interaction between players: this helped a lot when it came to post frequency, putting players in situations where interactions with each other was either mandatory or happened naturally. This way posts where you have to insert exposition doesn't have to be sandwiched in between every character interaction and you get some fun back and forths between players.
Serence has a good point suggesting Syke round everyone back up, and if needed, stating explicitly to talk among each other is also a way to get the conversation going:
Leafolawl wrote:Skye ushers the group of pets to a corner table, trying to ensure their conversation stays out of earshot of the people around them. Something strange was definitely going on, and even if no one had a clue what was happening, at least trying to get to know each other would help in returning some semblance of order, they were at a meetup afterall, even if no-one attending admitted to setting it up in the first place.
Maybe something like that?

2. Fleshing out the setting and pointing out things of interest: This one probably depends on how much you want to control the building of the EC world or whether you'll give us players some license to add things here and there. I know in neighborhoods like Richmond Acres it's fine for us to have general locations pop up and it's no big deal (like a cabin in the woods or an extra farm or something at the edge of town. But the plot doesn't have to be as strict in those RPs so it was alright. Also throwing in a tidbit here and there about what someone might notice of their surroundings also helps, which I already think you're doing well at! I really liked the interaction between Kai and the Puzzle Palace guy! And now we have a location to go to and investigate!

Like I said at the beginning I think you're doing pretty well as is! Hopefully what I says helps (or at least makes some sense and it doesn't just look like rambling). I am very much looking forwards to where this all goes!

Short answer, yes. Long answer, I can try getting people in as stands, but it might take a bit for me to get things figured out for them to join proper. Behind the scenes things I work on and all.

Furthermore, I make a point of stressing that new players take care reading the opening post of the thread.

Also, Roarin, I'm fine with players throwing in locations like restaurants or toy stores, abandoned buildings or farms or whatever, but during paranormal arcs or other similarly tense events, details are important. The immediate surroundings are likely going to be planned. This is why I put a lot of care into descriptions and subtleties.

For example, the way Skya's attention constantly moves around the area, making sure everyone's safe, or how the guy that works at Puzzle Palace was having problems with his glasses.

Outside of that, I welcome players to do as normal. Toss in toys or games, tools and paintings with however much description to it you want.

Fortunately I've not been hit personally, lucky me. I'm in good health, and mostly just bored out of my mind.

I've been slow out of respect, as the pandemic is asking major social changes.

Hey y'all. Back from the dead. Can't believe it's already been over 6 months since I wasn't able to continue with you guys on this RP. Situation has calmed for me and everything is good. Caught up on Edge this morning. I know Charleston is out of the picture right now but I definitely want to hop back in when the next opportunity rolls around if you'll have me.
