[2018/10/17 - Still In Shrinkwrap]
Title Text: at least it's not the sequel, Halloween H2O2. I heard it was pretty acrid.
No joke, just real talk, this brings back memories.
You are missed, Showtime Video and Pizza.

It was established early on that there's a law that requires pets to be held to leashes. But it never specified who needed to hold it, so the pets work around it like this.
And no joke, the rental place I used to go to charged you for not rewinding.

A chemistry joke. Wha wha whaaaaaa.
Anyone else fell like the store name was a missed opportunity to spell something Ominous?
Oh video stores. You know what’s actually sad is that they even know what one is. Let’s see this started back in 2008 so I guess they would be old enough to know what they were. For the record there are still brick and mortar video stores in existence. Not Blockbuster of course but stores that are basically really large Red Boxes.
I pray those aren’t VHS.

Circumvents certain laws. Some areas pets aren't allowed into unless they're on leashes. But no-one said they couldn't hold said leashes themselves.
The door opens into the dark,
silence shifts through the shelves’
Videos rise, right out of the ark
to torment our furry little elves.
Black night bleeds to black film,
a terrible find of the time.
A store full of malevolent tape,
a sequel that’s truly a crime.
There’s no-one here save our two
as they venture into the store.
Before the night’s out, without a doubt,
they’ll need to fight, tooth and claw...

Sorry for being uneducated, but could someone explain what Halloween H2O was and what makes it special (or not). The alt text I understand and it made me facepalm.

You know I love Peanut when he says stuff like ”Droooop Booooox” I’m sorry but that’s funnier than it should be. I find that Hilarious for some reason. Sometimes he reminds me of myself.

There was a brief project to add color to the black and white strips. Might be able to find them with some digging.

It's the 7th Halloween movie. Apparently it wasn't good.

I started coloring the strips myself at one point and did a few but it was insanely tedious and hard to figure out what was supposed to be what color.

Oh come now. Physical video rental stores aren't doing that badly these days. As a matter of fact, the place in my town does rather good business.

Is this store haunted because there aren't any employees around? Maybe someone will show up next strip.

Buried in Fan Projects is
It's a REFOOT! (a REFur project rebOOT), the culmination of an effort to make unofficial colorings for all the black & white strips.

You inspired me to look to see if there even were any in my area. I found one that I think closed in 2015, and
This One that seems to be based around stocking outdated formats. I put a link just because it looks interesting, I may check it out this weekend.
Peanut has a point, back when I used to frequent video stores I regularly would pick something from the stacks that I would never have thought to search for. (or even would have heard of in most cases.)

Most video rental stores also have a section for game rentals too.

Grape is not amused.
also, no - this is a real deal with stores back then. They want you to know in the horror movie section they have all of your Michael Myers covered. And Jason Voorhees/Freedy Kruegers/chuckies/Burt Gummers are covered.
That, and i'm almost %100 certaon they want you to dress your kids up as them for halloween. =P
though Peanut is not wrong - they do indeed have alot of unique movies. Just good luck telling Grape that now x3

I remember going into video stores and seeing those "unique movies" and it made me question so many things about humanity as a whole. As far as video games rentals go that was the one good aspect of those stores. Sites like Gamefly are pointless if you don't play through a game as fast as possible or if there just are that many games you want. Red Box rents games but very few and it's never what you really want. For example, I want to play "God of War" but I don't want to pay money for it.
Wait a minute, do they even have money to rent a movie? I guess if it only cost like a dollar to rent over night they'll be fine. I've never been that in to "Renting" movies so I don't know what the going price is.

I heard Blockbuster still exists up in Alaska.

Yeah, it's impressive how they still exist.

So, seems that they're going to rent a movie to watch for Halloween.

Do what, Grape? Pay money to do it? Uhm, by saying so, you sound to support piracy...

I didn't know of the existence of that movie.

Speaking of the Halloween films, what does Baroness Hayden-Guest - A.K.A. Jamie Lee Curtis - think of the ones she's done?

America has just one Blockbuster left
This week, there are three stores remaining, but by next week there will only be one store open for business -- in Bend, Oregon.
Alaska's last two Blockbuster stores -- one in Anchorage and another in Fairbanks -- announced they would officially close on Sunday.

Props for the fourth panel. If I had to draw a thousand lines like that I would have cried. I love how Grape so unimpressed.

I wonder if the mention of the oddity of a rental store is in itself a clue to the story line. How many story arcs in general focus around the mysterious shop that vanishes at the end of the tale? Sometimes leaving only a small trinket as proof that the adventure happened at all.
It is a good red herring, we're currently more focused on the store itself and not its roll in the story.

Or Rick is giving us a break from the arcs that have major impacts on the stories moving forward, which personally I kinda prefer at this point, even if it leaves less to speculate about

Earl is fine as long as Peanut has his leash and 3DS.
