Miles being a teacher is actually really fitting. Always wondered what he was doing in his free time.

Miles shows that he’s a great lead scout
and that he knows just how to be prepared.
He’s been getting ready for this for years;
when it comes to unity, he’s not scared.
Jack, of course, is not nearly the same;
by now he was hoping to be rich.
Well, it was either that or to be found
face down, trying to breathe in a ditch.
Miles is with the lovely Lana on this,
the Wolves have to grow and interact.
People outside the gardens still fear;
for unity, that’s an uncomfortable fact.

Please. Please. PLEASEEEEEEEE. Let us see Miles actually teach a class. I want to see those students faces. I need this. I need this to be a story chapter. Imagine literally every teacher & eighties movie/dead poets society cliche ever made and crank it up to eleven.

Also I love the comment about teacher's salary. The fact that Miles literally says "Have you done nothing to prepare for living in the human world" right after is perfect.

Boy, Miles sure does look muscular, exactly as much so as usual. I must say there are some great expressions in this strip. I'm looking forward to see what subject/grade level combination Miles will be teaching. I didn't fail to notice his degree doesn't include the full university name (like "University of Alabama, Huntsville") so no hits as to where Babylon Gardens is located.

Miles as a teacher should be really cool. I wonder if he would only teach Animals or if they would let him teach humans as well?

I'd say young Humans. After all, he is used to dealing with rabid Ferals...

This arc is only three pages in, so I might be jumping the gun here, but it's been bugging me since Steward got turned into a badger.

With him "missing" and presumably having a warrant out for his arrest, do the Miltons not have an official owner anymore?

Children are very much comparable to rabid animals... Children are monsters.

steward wasn't their owner, he was just in charge of their money, making sure the ferrets didn't spend it too stupidly and run the business into the ground. I believe the ferrets are still legally owned by Henry even if he isn't alive. so they own themselves.

It's an online degree, so that wouldn't tell you anything.

My concern is that a lot of online/mail order universities aren't all that great. But this one says its accredited, or is that just it's name (like Homemade Brand Vanilla Flavored Ice Cream Style Frozen Dessert)?

Or the 'accreditations' of the vet who gave Sixtoes his shots?

how did he sign up for classes without

Copy of a photo identification such as a driver's license.
Copy of your social security card.
Official high school transcript.
SAT or other college approved test scores.

Miles had reeeeeeeeeel generous student loan rates. That trumps any other petty identity documentation these days.

He had the backing of a billionaire. Universities bend a LOT of rules when that's the case. And, online, they often don't need any such requirements., just the cash. And, as said before, Billionaire.

Well, as an alternative to Jack's "gettin' dead and dumped" strategy, it's got some merit ... and 401k possibilities. Still, most teacher's don't get funeral plan coverage.......

You actually can defer handing that in at a lot of universities, and some will substitute SAT for an internal "placement" test. Like, you can hand them in after graduation, if you play your cards right

Let's think for a second. What would Miles be qualified to teach?
We know that he has a lot of books and is well read. So English would be a possibility. When we first met him his vocabulary was better than most of my classmates in the MAW program.
History would be likely considering Mile's knowledge of obscure historical facts. He knows latin. I'm still going to vote English. Rick is a writer so that is his wheelhouse. I could totally see him as a high school english teacher.

Maybe that is why this chapter is called "Call o' th' Wild" because Miles is going to teach some random high school class about "Call of the Wild" by Jack London. Then he can do "White Fang." To be honest I could see him teach "The Great Gatsby" considering all the years he's worked for the Miltons.

Then maybe he could also be a coach. Imagine him coaching the football team. He could even be the mascot. Go Wolves!

Fenrir, you may have it half right. "Call of the Wild" by JACK London. This is a Four Finger Discount Jack arc!

Aww, poor Jack, he seems to never be fine with human genre. :P Miles, instead, is putting efforts in being civilized and even intellectual. :D Be an university teacher sounds great, hopefully, he could make this wish true. ;)

I know but In my mind I want them to team up in the story arc. No offense to Jack but Miles would be a better story. How about Jack becomes Miles assistant or something?

First off: Sorry about this response being so late. I was out of town all day.
Secondly: I hope that's the case, otherwise, the Milton's will need to replace steward quick.

...what Welsh Halfwit said.
Also, the question of who "owns" the ferrets is somewhat intriguing. As they are part of the "Milton Estate", did they inherit themselves? When we first met them, the little darlin's were in a "give away" box. However, they're sure emancipated and in control now, having sackked Mr. Steward.
