Thomas has only mentioned looking for gold, which is currently quoted at $1,277.60/oz. Gold is heavy, and there is only so much that He and Sophia can carry, it would make more sense for him to grab whatever other piles of coins he's already passed rather than going deeper into the temple. So unless he's looking for gems or something with a better value to weight ratio, what does he think could be in the marked room on the map?

Also, what is that room, Pete's old chamber?

I would love the twist here being you have to have a hat or be a pet to see what's in the room, but Thomas usually is late to the punch.

I have a feeling there is a reality distortion field specific to the humans. As a result, all the wonders the pets are experiencing are off-limits to naughty humans like Thomas.

It's a kefiyyeh, technically, but it works as well as a hat except what power it confers eludes me. It does obscure Thomas's identity (although Fox previously spotted him and Sophie earlier), and maybe helps Sophie feel a bit more secure.

My guess is that this is where he WOULD meet Pete, if Pete wasn't banned from the area. Perhaps this is where the Mana is? (Actually, I think the Mana was released into the Temple when Zach pushed the button. Since Zach wasn't eligible to receive the Mana, the Mana had to go somewhere, so it was absorbed by the Temple itself. That would explain how the Temple can do the magic stuff.)
