That's right, Res, power through this! If you're lucky, you may get to keep your fans satisfied AND your sanity in place!

I would tell Res to calm down, but considering he's writing the last Pridelands book, I can see why he feels pressured.

Res, think it like this: Even if the book is a total disappointment, the fans are going to criticize Miss Auburn, not you !

... What do you mean that doesn't helps ?

Res is running from the pressure
and I’m not sure his mom is a help
offering solutions he doesn’t want;
but never trying to reassure.
Pressuring him to finish his series
won’t help him through the block.
Just like the act of scaring someone
isn’t a good treatment for shock.
Little Res is on his way to action
down the Babylon Gardens way
and the first question to table
is what will be Grapes’ reaction?
Will he be the new Zach?
All nervous and patently afraid
Will he get his zen back?
There's still a game to be played.

Yes, Res, that's how you should do it. A true artist suffers, even if that doesn't help. Kinda senseless, but I think his attitude in this regard is kinda cute :mrgreen:

does Res count as a ghostwriter? I don't think he does since he's not being paid to write for his owner, rather she's working for him as his face. is she a facewriter?

Never noticed it as much last comic, but those white ears are adorable. And Anxiety attacks are always great fuel. Can't stop panicking what every detail the fans might like.

"What if we got you a girlfriend?"
"AHHHHHHHHH~" *runs through a wall and books a ship to the Bermuda Triangle"

"What about that purple cat who yelled at me that one time? You seemed to like her."

"AHHHHHHHHH"

don't run away from my ship, Res, you two are adorable together

Awwr, makes me wonder how much of this is autobiographical. I'm pretty sure much of the character of Res is meant to be, at least!

Don't forget the spinoff tv series. They'll need source material to base their next season off of.

I was hoping to see Res again. No doubt Grape will be a good influence on his writers' block.

I vaguely remember his original collar tag was changed from green to the current yellow, but why didn't you change it to red, Rick?

You're always so frightened, Res. :D I knew the reason of the vacation is to help him to get ideas for the new book, but, is it really that? ;) I can relate that, a long awaited book of this series puts lot of pressure, indeed. :| Huh? You like to be so anxious, Res? :P If she asks for another ghostwriter to write the book for her, maybe it means that she doesn't really want it to be of the best quality. Her success is all due to Res, I guess. ;)

Look at it this way - usually when referencing Canadians on television or comics they usually enjoy referencing the following:

* the maple leaf (The Canadian Flag)
* our accent (Usually with eh,buddy, or bub)
* maple syrup
* apologizing alot
* our taste for mac and cheese/Kraft Dinner
* lumberjacks and their love for nature
* mounties

Rick was likely trying not to make Res so obvious. x3

I'm setting up for my first fantasy novel, so I can't say I can relate at the moment, but I'll check back in six months or so to talk about good ol' writer's block with good ol' Res... It kills me. I'm on unfinished story no. 3048 now because of it.

Does anyone else find it ironic that she suggests a ghostwriter for the person/cat who is themselves a ghostwriter? This double-ghost nonsense is making my head spin.

I wouldn't think anything of it. He's not one to pass up song references.

A wise old Sharecropper once told me "You caint run away from your troubles, taint no place far enough for that..." (*)

Don't start writing the story, sit down with Mom and start jotting down plot points and making an outline.

Then you can start with key plot points and craft the dialog around them. Have the lead character sit down and write a diary entry...

And before you know it, you're halfway down the backstretch.

Well yeah,

If we're giving practical advice, he has 7 other books already out. There have to be a few dangling plot threads that need to be wrapped up, or at least touched on. Those would be a practical place to start.
