Look at that "MISSING" sign, I wonder ... who could possibly be missing, who indeed ... Maybe 5 Housepets or maybe not... we will never know for sure

King needs to get some Prozac badly because is he keeps on smothering Bailey he is gonna push her away.

Also, dogs are pregnant for 63 days so if she were three months pregnant, she would be VERY overdue.

Woah...... :o

Something tells me that time back at the gardens is moving a whole lot faster than expected....

Either that or our crew has been gone a long time...

Either Bailey really gorged herself or a lot more time has past during the 5000 BC arc than I thought. I mean, it's quite a difference since her last appearance and that was just the arc before this two-parter!

We found out Bailey was pregnant at the beginning of June; it's now the beginning of October. That's 4 months, which is supposedly the gestation for dogs in the Housepets! Universe. She'd actually slightly past due if this comic was in real time. I suspect that time jumps ahead between each arc to keep up with the present (aside from multi-parters), so it possibly might not be too long before Bailey gives birth.

technically, since the All's Fair arc started in April, which usually corresponds with the actual time of the comic, the announcement happened in early May at the latest.
then if this comic is around the same time as the 5000 BC arc which started and is still taking place in July, this is only about 2 months after the announcement.

though I'm pretty sure the comic's time is flexible enough that even that estimate is wrong.

Back in the present
and, surely, time has passed.
If WE know who's 'missing',
questions will be asked.
Only King knows the truth
of where the gang has gone
but, if he reveals it,
they'll think it a come on!
Bailey won't take it easy,
which just adds to his fears;
then she mentions Ice cream
- music to young, wolfy, ears!
Other's folks are missing their loves,
searching, close to tears,
for their dear family members;
trying not to surrender to fears

Looks like the perfect time to practice some father things with Miles' cubs, also where's Deevee?

About Bailey's Pregnancy, we saw Snow in this state in Dec 2012 and the litter came in March 2013, so if dogs and wolves pregnancy last similar times maybe we meet the cubs in January :D

Considering King's human mentality, it shouldn't be too much of a surprise. From what I've seen, this isn't rare for first-time parents. Usually around the second kid (or in this case, litter) would individuals be more relaxed.

The worlds most useful missing poster ever!
Bailey has the right of it, a three-for-one special is amazing.
Kings expression is priceless.

King, you should have known, it's Bailey who we are talking about.

And I know I'd run to find my GF and tell her about that special. 3 for 1 it's too good to miss.

Well when you think about it, we only ever see the interesting part of these characters lives. It's not that it went by fast, we were just not shown the 2 months in between. You'd be surprised at all the time jumps this comic actually takes. I think it's gone as far as to skip around 4 months at some point, I don't remember when though... :?

King will always be a target of these things. They will haunt him. until he finally rolls them off of his shoulder like Peanut someday. =P

Not only was it awesome seeing Bailey's growth, but the cubs as well. I got this feeling they will get some major attention soon :3

I give her about Christmas :3

HP! dogs are bigger than RL dogs, so probably have a longer gestation period.

We now interrupt our meandering mainline story which is expected to tie up some loose ends for some pregnancy jokes.

Eheh, funny break. :) Yeah, Bailey is evidently fatigued... But King, again? Come on, don't worry too much for her. :P Have an ice cream, take advantage of the special offer. ;) Give the other two to North Star and Rockstar Hawk, they need to grow up more also if they already beat your height, now. :P Wow, they did lot of run too from their home. :D I'm wondering who's the missing one/s on that poster attached to the pole...

I think that Brent's estimate about how far along Bailey is might be the closest we can get to being accurate about her pregnancy. Anyway, I think she is about to pop very soon.

That's one thing I never get with time travel stories, people always assume the two time periods are synchronized.

Why?

I'm not assuming that. I'm sure weeks or months have passed for the Gardens whereas it's only a day or so back then.

That's not too far fetched of an idea. The Housepets! 5,000 B.C. arc started in July. Maybe the crew will get back to find as much time has passed for in Babylon Gardens as it has for us?

Except in "Bill and Ted", where they go back for a few years to learn how to play the guitar in the last few minutes before the performance.

I hate it when time travelers forget they have a time machine. Bill and Ted remember.

That's one thing I like in Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality (a truly gonzo fanfic that finds every possible loophole in Harry Potter magic). In one scene, Harry escapes from a locked room by deciding to go back in time and send a teacher to rescue him after he escapes. As soon as he decides to do this, the teacher shows up.

Well, considering that they have yet to use another time travel spell in the past (indeed, almost the entirety of their problem is that they can't) and that there seems to be no reason to presume that they're at different relativistic speeds, it stands to reason that just because they're in different places in time doesn't mean their temporal perspectives are any different.

If one's speed through the universe is constant (and the earth hasn't changed speed significantly in the past 7000 years) and gravity isn't mucking things up (and the solar system hasn't changed drastically in that regard either in that time frame) one's movement through time is similarly constant.

Fun fact - the moon is actually slowing down the earth's rotation through tidal forces. If anything, the current timeframe should be going slower than the past. That said, it's a sorta... millions of years process, so I wouldn't really attribute anything to that.
