bit of context, rua wasn't talking about that one topic she was talking about asking about the past in general. as far as i can tell today is the first normal day that rabbit has ever had, and every time what she did before now on any subject has come up the resulting conversation has either been depressing or disturbing.

Yeah, pretty much any question about Phoebe's past is going to have a messed up answer and messed up implications. Today was the first day Phoebe has had in her life where she wasn't reasonably afraid of loosing it. She's known nothing but pain and abuse her whole life. I suppose she had some normal days in the pound, but then the pound turned out to be a kill shelter...

I actually had to limit what I said about her drawings to avoid pushing forum rules.

I can say she used to draw the sun because she wanted to see it, but so rarely got to.

Rua's sounding pretty confident that, despite what Leon said, Phoebe still has lead a worse life. He might ask Rua what exactly happened to Phoebe that makes Rua so sure of this? Idk, that's the only thing I can think of.

since i'm sure at least sean is going to be wondering why rua gets so bent out of shape over other people paying for things, it's a culture thing.

gifts aren't a thing among laurae. if something is given to you or bought for you there's a specific reason. you've either earned it, you're going to owe a favor for it later (or in rua's case, trying to get out of owing phoebe because of the paintball accident, at least before she found out the truth and took her in) or it's needed and the other is obliged to provide for you.

Related to my next post in RGV, and as reference for some future interactions I believe will likely be happening soon, Phoebe is afraid of a lot of things. Knives, broken glass, pain, "disappearing", mean dogs, concrete walls, drainage grates, guns, orange soda bottles, sharp teeth, sharp claws, and more.

However there are a few things you might think she'd be afraid of, but just isn't. Ghosts, swords, skeletons, fictional monsters, scary stories, large bladed or blunt weapons, and other things.

The reason is the former list includes things she's been hurt by, or has seen things hurt by. The latter is stuff that's never hurt her. Phoebe isn't brave, but she's got too many adult fears. Scary imagery doesn't effect her because she knows that lots of scary imagery can't hurt her, or won't hurt her.

I've updated Phoebe's stats to fit her past better. Her luck is now 2 and her endurance is maxed out for a child character.

EDIT: I've updated Phoebe's stats again after talking with Neon. We agreed that, given everything she's been through, she's pretty much exempt from the age-related endurance penalty considering she took punishment on a daily basis that would kill a fully grown rabbit from the pain and fright alone.

Yup. I keep looking for things winding down to start off the end of the day, but then something happens to push it further and further along. Though I think we'll be at a good point here soon for me to just say "alright wrap it up" and kick off the proper end of day. Hopefully. hopefully hopefully. Maybe.

Okay, so, Sean is next in the turn order for our trio, then back to CD, then me again. meanwhile roo seems to be waiting on CD, welsh seems to be waiting on Roo, Neon is um... forgetting to post again? missed a perfectly good opening to answer Roo (socks).

A little bit of distraction, yes, but it's mostly been a ton of second guessing on my part. Also doesn't help that the ideas I had to post were either hardly anything or too stilted for my liking, amidst the second guessing. Hope I didn't stall things too much, though. Radiant has just been a little slippery to get a hold of creatively for some reason as of late. I'll try to make a post soonish, as these additional posts have lessened my current second guessing and put a better light on the, admittedly simple, ideas.
