I can only speak to the movies since I haven't seen 101 Dalmatian Street, but in those the mother character only gave birth to 15 puppies. The other 86 were from pet stores and not related.

Why is it that I remember in the animated movie that came out that Perdita did give birth to all 101? I think that was what happened.
Then again, the last time I saw the animated movie, I was SIX so I probably am misremembering what I saw 21 years ago.

15 are hers and Pongo's. The rest are rescued after being bought from various pet shops.

I remember seeing the original in the theater in 1960/61 and how intrigued I was at the new animation style.

Yeah, they planted it upside down. But you gotta remember, amphibians hadn't been up on land long enough to know much about agriculture.

One of the last times I got to see Volga before the city went back into full lockdown.
You can see she was really being sweet that day. IIRC that was late October, after we'd had a little snow... I don't think you can see any in the shot though. Probably the same day she kept showing me her belly to try and get my attention while I was talking to one of the zoo volunteers.
It must have been just after I put my hand by her paw, 'cause she's already got that look on her face she had, like "I didn't expect you to do that, but I think I like it"

I do wish that my dogs could be lke that. Most of the time they either give each other a wide-berth or they attack each other.
