~On The Other Side~Fanfiction!

Post by Happiness Designer »

Hey guys.
So, this is my first attempt at a fanfic. Not too sure how well everyone will like this, but hey, why not give it a shot?

NOTE: This is most likely a PG-13 rated fanfic.
It may or may not include fighting or other violence, but nothing too serious.

On that note, let's start!

The dog sat glumly in the wooden chair. He was pondering a question that had haunted him his whole life, a question that related to the greatest mistake of his life. He turned a pencil over and over in his paw. Finally, the movement halted and the dog stood. Reaching to his right, he grasped the phone and picked it up. Was it worth it? The phone was placed back onto the stand. He sighed. Nothing was worth it anymore. Ever since The Incident, he never had plucked up the courage to call.
The phone rang.
The dog turned and stared at the phone. He slowly inched his hand forward and grasped the phone, lifting it up to his ear.
“Hey… You there?” The distinct gravelly voice resounded through the dogs mind. He had not heard that voice since The Incident.
“I ain’t got all day. You gonna talk or what?” Slowly, the dog responded with a low mumble, “Is this R?”
“What do ya think? Someone goes out callin’ ya, who else would it be? I’m one of the only peoples who knows ye number.” The gravelly voice continued to ramble, but the dog had taken the phone from his hear. What was R calling him about? All he did these days was train. Whether in strength, intelligence, or cunning, all he did was train. Every day since The Incident.
With a swift motion, the dog pushed the phone back to his ear and slowly asked, “What’s this about?” In response, R chuckled slowly, and replied,
“The agency wants you back. Make sure to leave ‘em a call.”
The line went dead out of nowhere. The dog slowly pulled the phone back away from his ear, reached over to the old phone, and dialed the agency’s number. He had quit years ago after The Incident… Why did they want him back? Hadn’t he caused enough havoc?
A feminine voice, most likely a cat, answered the call briskly. “This is the-“
The dog quickly cut off the cat’s voice, and quietly said, “It’s Arc.”
“Oh… I’ll…. Connect you to-“ Again, cutting her off, Arc replied with, “Yes. Connect me to Rei.”

I kind of just wanted to set up the story for a bit. I know it's short, but that's because I just wanted to see if anyone was interested in reading this.

Thanks,
Korakc!

A moment of hesitation. Was this really what Arc wanted? More so, was it in his best interests? On one hand, the agency could just want to recruit him back into the forces for some reason Arc didn’t care about. On the other hand, was it possible that they wanted to talk about The Incident? It had been confusing. They didn’t want to hear his side of the story, possibly due to the fact that he had screwed up so badly. Remembering R’s words, “The agency wants you back”, Arc concluded that something big had happened. The true question was if the agency could trust him, and if he could trust the agency.

A soft voice filled the phone. “Arc? You there?” Rei.

“Yeah. What do you need?” He replied, not wasting any time.

“Well, I’m not sure if you have consistently looked at one of the scrolls you obviously stole, but things are getting rough in the galaxy.”
So they did need him. “Well then, how bad is it? Bad enough to ask for my assistance?”

“Why else would we be calling? Besides, we haven’t heard from you since… Well, you know. Some kind of entity has been tearing apart dimensions and galaxies quickly. We’ve been using some of our specialists to pinpoint exactly what is happening. For instance, G has learned that it’s able to be injured by magic by using long distance attacks. Tarot and Sabrina are attempting to find out it’s weaknesses, but nothing is working there. This creatue is jamming anything non-offensive that we’re sending at it, and it’s just absorbing the attacks we do get to it.”

“So you need me to kill it?” Arc asked quietly. His last operation obviously hadn’t gone well. “Why can’t you find someone else?”

“Isn’t it obvious? It has some kind of defense that’s stopping Tarot and Sabrina’s attempts to view it, and when it comes to breaching we all know who takes the cake. We don’t want you to kill it, just to learn more about it.”

Arc sighed. He was going to regret this decision. “Ok. Whatever. I’ll do my best to do this. Should I use an astral jump to get to you?”

“That won’t be necessary.” The room began to distort, chairs and the table melting into the ground, a dizzying never-ending spiral. It stopped quickly. Arc stood up to find Rei before him. He was in the white control center. Everything was as it was before Arc left.

“Welcome back.”

I decided I'm going to do short updates instead of longer ones, but I will post them more consistently (Hopefully).

Janie held the magnet in her hand tightly. What if it didn't work? She would disappoint the entire audience that had come to see the presentation. Sure, it didn't seem plausible at all. Tearing a hole in the universe that could possibly enable you to walk into separate realities? Despite the insane idea, many people wished to witness it occurring if it did work. Janie set the magnet down and walked over the small generator and plugged it in. Her own invention, a wave compressor. Not the sound inducing kind, but an actual gadget that could compress sound waves that still were in the air. By using this, Janie could rip a hole by using enough waves to get the separate universes and realities.

She finally clicked the ON button to activate the compressor. Everyone in the auditorium watched, waiting. "Alright. It needs about thirty second to charge, and then it will work." Janie called out to the audience. She sat down in the chair in the back of the stage, and watched the compressor intently.

If this worked, the entire universe would be changed. She could patent the device, sell it to organizations across the world, and watch as they expanded their view on the universe.

She checked her watch. Ten seconds left. People in the audience were muttering to each other, wondering when anything would happen.

The watch beeped, signaling thirty seconds.

Nothing happened.

What had gone wrong?! This should have worked! Growling, Janie stalked towards the device. Conversation broke out in the audience, talk about wasting time and such. Janie reached the device. Perhaps some plug had fallen out? She reached out her arms to pick up and turn the machine around, and the instant her finger touched the device she vanished.

Slowly, the audience noticed the professor's disappearance and was quiet. A voice rang out, "Hey! She ran out on us!" Yelling immediately commenced in the entire room, drowning out the police behind the stage's yells. One with a megaphone informed the audience that the professor hadn't come out the back. Everyone was forced out of the auditorium as the police investigated.

A young man, new to the police force, took the machine and placed it in an evidence area at the police station, careful not to let his fingerprints touch it incase of evidence.

Sounds interesting enough. I like how you keep referencing the incident... keeping us guessing, eh?

So this will be about a genius cat and an expert at dealing with Higher Beings?
