I think the issue is that by default our software only allows images to be uploaded. Rick has likely never had any need to install the extension needed to allow other file types.
You might have to uploaded your file to an external site and link to it using [url] tags instead.
Sorry about that!

Has anyone suggested that you add an option where you can click a dropdown menu to change the font type?

Is that something that is even possible? I know there is a menu for size but not sure about a menu to change the font style.

When does a message move from Outbox to Sent Messages? I had a small mishap with the PM system because I didn't know that.

I don't think so. That should be possible though! There's a mod for it. I'll get the admins to look into it. ^^

It moves from Outbox to Sent as soon as the recipient opens it.

Yeah I had a problem with that also the first time I was sending a PM and didn't understand what was going on so I just ignored it and hoped that my PM was sent. :P

Can I create a RP? If so how?

You certainly can!

Just click here to DM Serence, the RP moderator. Tell her what sort of RP you want to make and give her an idea of the basic premise. If she approves it then you can start recruiting players. Once you have enough players you can start the RP.

The first step though is sending Serence that message. ^^

How do the poll question posts come around? Does a moderator have to create them?

I'm not a moderator (yet), but I know the answer to this. Regular people can create polls, but first you have to apply to Dissension in a PM. If you're approved he'll make a change so on every thread you create there will be poll options. I think you meet the application criteria by now though they ask members don't have more than 2 polls running simultaneously. You can read more about it in New Membership Option - Standard + Polls.

It might seem a bit complicated but it does cut down on poll topics ending up cluttering the boards. :)

Champion Wallace nailed it. Diss' post with the instructions on what to do can be found at the other end of this link. Once Diss approves you you don't need to do anything to join the group or anything like that. You'll just automatically have the option to add a poll to your post every time you create a new thread.

Enjoy! ^^

Part of me wonders if I still have that since I haven't started a topic yet and don't feel the need to.

You are not. On your profile page if you click the Groups drop-down there would be "Standard + Polls" as an option if you were. You can also find a list of all members that can create polls from a member search by specifying a group like this.

That is very good to know. If I ever need to make a poll I will make sure to keep that in mind. Though it is doubtful I ever will.

I'm trying to post something in the "Rate what the user above you is listening to" topic but it's not letting me. I keep getting a weird popup whenever I try to post something there.
Edit: I'm not sure if this could be resolved by a mod but there isn't an "Ask an Admin" topic.

Hmm. Last time something like this happened it turned into a server-side issue that our Sugar Glider needed to fix. It's great that you screenshotted it too! That's very helpful!

We haven't had any other reports of problems but let us know if it happens again or if it continues and we'll see what we can do! In the meantime, it may help to refresh and try again and maybe to clear your cache and cookies, just to be sure.

Thanks but we can't take credit. It's all Inaki/Ikani's hard work!

It's definitely still not working properly though. Apparently there's an issue with the FTP that may require updating our software.

We do apologise for the inconvenience and we hope it'll be up and running again soon but currently we unfortunately don't have an ETA.

Not a rub, Hla. These things take time. It's not yet normalized - apparently, when you call up an individual thread (like this one), you get page one instead of the last, most recent page. (However, hitting post reply gets out to the most recent page, but the most recent comments are in the column below the reply box ... ah, well ... ) ;)

Next to the name of the last poster, there's a small triangle icon in a circle. That's the way to get to the last post at the moment.

You can do it either way and it will definitely get you to the last reply so you don't have to worry about posting something over a decade ago and you will be able to see what the last post was. I ended up hitting the "post reply" button but that was only because I saw that there was no page number for the topics that had them.

Well, there still is, it's just not very good. The site was programed so different pages had different URLs. Even without links, the URLs still exist. All you got to do to go to a different page is add "&start=" to the end of the page URL followed by 40 * (desired page number - 1). For example, page 5 for this topic would be https://www.housepetscomic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2242&start=160 page 10 would be https://www.housepetscomic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2242&start=360

The only thing that we know is that the forum had a break down and they are going to try to fix it as fast as we can so we got to just be very patient.

Just an update for you all:

The move to the new server is complete and our server sugar glider Ikani has put in a PHENOMENAL amount of work, upgrading the software too. The maker of the theme we were using has stopped developing it so Ikani has had to update it all BY HAND! They're still ironing out all the bugs but progress is being made.

As it turns out, our forums aren't the only ones the server move broke and Ikani has been working to fix all of them.

We apologise again for the inconvenience and thank you all for your patience.

Also a HUUUUUUGE thank you to Ikani for all the effort and extra work they've been putting in over the last few days to get us up and running again!

On a related note, why do we iron out bugs? That seems a gross and messy way to get ride of them. Much better to just fumigate, I think!

When is the estimate of everything being fixed?

I don't think it is possible to fumigate computer bugs.

Does anyone want to try?

I'm thinking that it might take a few weeks or some months at the most in order to get the forum completely repaired. They do have to put everything together manually since the site needs upgrades that aren't available anymore.

Unfortunately we still don't have an estimate. As I said, Ikani is working on a lot of things all at once. We share a server with several other websites, at least one for which Ikani is also the tech person, so we all got a bit borked by the move.
