"Oh, gettin' down is easy we just gotta...no no, let's just... no, no , no, maybe if we... huh, guess these houses ain't built for roos," the rabbit said realizing this wouldn't be quite as easy as he thought.
"do you have anything we could use to lower them down? ropes and an old mattress?" Met asked
"We might, let me check," he hopped further into the house.

Tesla henhouse an ear to the side, then leans out a little to look at the the feet of the kangaroos. "... Have either of you ever walked backward?" She inquires, angling her head to look up at the 'roo twins.

The roos look at each other and then at Tesla and shake their heads.
"No."
"We physically can't walk backwards."
"We're not built like that."
"Our tails get in the way and our legs don't bend right."
"It's forwards or nothing."
"And hops only. We're built for speed and efficiency."
"Not for steep and narrow human things like this."

"Not to put pressure on anyone, but there's a tornado barreling down the countryside, and it could turn to hit us at any time." Jack said urgently. "Can't our bigger lion friends here carry you two down or something?"

Tesla points up at the ceiling. "Vertical space issue. Their tails make it hard for a laundry basket. Uh..." The fox's voice goes into frustrated whispers. "Met might be right, covering the stairs with something that won't move under them might be the best thing we can do without carrying them down one by one in a sort of stretcher position, which might be the fastest way, but could be awkward," she says after a second, raising her voice a bit to make sure she's heard.

"I reiterate my previous point that there is a tornado outside. We aren't going to get them into safety by arguing about how to do it. Sure it'll be uncomfortable, but like you said it is the fastest way." Jack stated.

The threat of a tornado started to worry Sam more. "Can't they just slide down?" he suggested, later realizing that may be a ridiculous idea.

and with that, Riggs came back dragging a couple matresses. "They can now," he said. "Little help, big guy?"
Met took a second to realize he hadn't introduced himself yet. "Oh, yeah. and my name's Met," he said as he pushed one of the matresses down the stairs to cushion the Roo's landing.
"Ok, hop on this one and we'll push you down," the rabbit said as he put the other one at the top.

"I'm sure he'll be fine," Met reassured her. "those sirens are loud enough he should hear and these basements are built sturdy." and with that he pushed the roos down the stairs and hoped for the best.

Tesla looks up at Jake. "... We're going the same direction, I suppose..." she reasons, an ear folded to the side. "So let's get it over so we can be somewhere safe."

"Yeah, like she'll believe tha- AAAAAAAAAAH!" With a crash, the roos land in a tangle of gangling limbs on the second mattress. They're still for a moment before Joey's head pops up from somewhere under Jake's tail.
"Let's do that again!" he laughs as the roos separate.
"Ugh. Let's not."

"But..." Storm hesitated. Her owner was quite old, and she didn't even givee him any notice where she was with this storm suddenly appearing. The more she thought about it, the more she's tempted to run back home. The storm is just starting, maybe she still have time....
So the lioness slowly approached the door...

"He's not that young anymore, and I don't even know if he can get down to the shelter by himself, especially since we only just got to this town, new house and all. I don't even know if he knows what that horn is about because I sure as howl didn't until you guys told me!" Storm said, getting louder and more panic as she went.

"he's right," Met agreed. "ande if he was watching TV or listening to radio he'll get a message about it too. Plus I'm pretty sure human's are taught about this stuff from an early age."

Tesla finally picks herself up from just past the end of the bed, mumbling to herself briefly."Is that everyone?" she calls, rubbing the side of her head to get rid of the dizziness.

Tesla takes the cactus fruit without any fuss, muttering a soft, "Thank you," to Riggs as she does. She quietly sits down on the edge of the bed the roos slid down to. "Only thing now is to make sure we're under a sturdy portion of the house, and to make sure there's nothing heavy on the floor above us... but I don't hear it close enough to be overly concerned yet. I read tornadoes are very loud, so we'd have a moment to prepare... even if only ten or twenty seconds," she informs, speaking a bit louder for everyone's sake.

"Golly. That was... That was something! I've never seen anything like that before!" Jake exclaims now that he's had a chance to process what he'd seen. "The willy willies back home ain't got nothin' on that monster!"

"well not much with the power out," Riggs answered. "we've got a radio, a couple handheld games... we could always do spin the bottle or truth or dare but there ain't much daring to be done down here either."

"yeah, this is a new neighborhood, there shouldn't be any really unsturdy parts of the house," Met thought through their situation. "Riggs, what's above us?"
"I think it's the living room? we should be safe if we stand over there-" he indicated a space with the flashlight. "when we hear the tornado. theres a big space 'tween the TV and couch."

Tesla uses a claw to tear through a bit of the cactus fruit's skin, then carefully peel it away. "When I say sturdy, I mean relative. The sturdiest point in the building, away from windows, walled off from the rest of the building, preferably with something to help cover ourselves... I still doubt it'll matter, with it being so quiet outside... Aside from the sirens, of course; those are loud..."
