Duchess is cold. Colleen is malicious. I'd say Duchess is behaving less evil by that standard.

I wonder if the other competitors will be pets we know. Bino and Sasha for sure.
Re: Arc 51: Show Business
are you talking about dogs with no biceps or dogs that are fat, because King isn't exactly fit; skinny and adorable yes but not fit, like Duchess had said his adorableness will be his only real chance at winning.justacritic wrote:I expect the less fit or more rotund dogs would have been laughed out of this competition already

Not just stature, stubbiness too. A miniature version of something that's simply scaled down may be odd or cool, but something whose features don't scale down the same way is cute (so long as it's across-the-board, otherwise you get into the Uncanny Valley)justacritic wrote:(Takes deep breath) It's ... Re: Arc 51: Show Business
Real dogs also don't have abs period. But that's not really relevant, because these aren't real dogs. They're partially human. Closer to children in stature; closer to adults in intellect. So, it's really not that surprising that some of them likely engage in human activities like going to the gym, or joining a swim team, or other various activities associated with more muscular individuals.Wanderer wrote:I was referring to actual dogs, not the ones in Housepets.

In regards to today's strip, I'm becoming more and more convinced that Duchess doesn't actually believe half of the things she says beyond the context of these competitions. Maybe it's just Colleen completely outdoing her in every possible facet of "being mean", but this strip makes her seem more like an overly competitive type, more blunt and practical than downright "evil" or mean-spirited.

See now that we have people making fun of King for his size, it's safe to say that we can see some potential PG rated violence in future strips to come. On a side note anyone notice that collies are too rediculously poofy in this one?

Real collies are pretty fluffy, so it makes sense for the ones in the comic to be similarly endowed with poof.

Re: Arc 51: Show Business
i haven't heard that song before; its pretty good, but what's a Ritz, i tried searching it up and i found four results.
a person, a car, a place and the creaker, none of those go with the song.
side note-here's something to prevent the topic from changing courses, what do you think the games are ganna be, if it's a couples show then they have to be doing it together, that rules out jumping through a hope, i suggest dancing would be one.

sometimes searching for the song itself helps more.wikipedia wrote:The title derives from the slang expression "putting on the Ritz," meaning to dress very fashionably. The expression was inspired by the swanky Ritz Hotel.

As much as I adore the name Taco (Seriously? That's awesome!), the only version of that song hoity-toity enough for such an event is the 1946 version by Fred Astaire.
And I would very much like to see a dancing scene. :3

I agree. I think Tarot is cuter than King. :p She's equally stubby-legged, but she has the bonus of being able to pull off an amused or flirtatious giggle.
King's just cute because he thinks he's tough, but is actually small and helpless. Which is pretty adorable in it's own right. :3
