Re: You're Not My Type: Myers-Briggs
Just for fun, I redid the test.
Still got ISFP, but the S is only 1%, which is worrying. The F is certainly dominant though. I'd prefer to think I'm an INFP, the idealist.
Job recommendations:
Writers
Counselors / Social Workers
Teachers / Professors
Psychologists
Psychiatrists
Musicians
Clergy / Religious Workers
*sigh* I missed my calling, I'd love to do all these, even the religious workers. C'est la vie.

I got INTJ. I see some things that I agree with that easily fit my personality, and then I see things I don't think would be a part of me even I tried to be like it...

I apparently appear to be an ISFP http://www.personalitypage.com/html/ISFP.html.

I tried to be honest with myself when answering those questions.
Edit: Wow. I share personality types with J.K. Rowling and John Lennon.

Second one of these tests I've taken and the second time I came up with INFP.
INFP: Introvert(89%) iNtuitive(12%) Feeling(50%) Perceiving(22%)
I think the "I" value drops a little when I'm chatting online.
I wonder what personality types the Housepets! characters have.

Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.
Re: You're Not My Type: Myers-Briggs
Took this for the first time since 2011. Apparently I'm an INFJ now.

I got a ISFJ on this test. I'm also interested in getting a job that has something to do with History. I like History. So I wonder if the two go together.

Re: You're Not My Type: Myers-Briggs
Took this test at school a few years back, I thought these tests were a bunch of carp.
I mean, sure, the character description really described me as a person, but considering that there is only 16 possible combinations, you can't possibly match the personality of every single person; human personalities must have more than 16 configurations!
Most of the time, it gives you a general idea of who you are, and what you are suited to do. But in my case, the career recommendations did not match my interests and I didn't find the advice helpful in the slightest.
It's a lot like tarot cards and psychics, they tell you a bunch of generic stuff that could apply to many others and expect you to take it to heart. It's a fun and constructive activity, but you can't really trust them in the long run. Just my thoughts.
ISFJ by the way.

Interesting (although it's perhaps entirely predictable) that most of us seem to have introversion as a trait. Most of us are strangers talking on the internet, after all...

So you mean you could have also very easily been a T and a P then?
Re: You're Not My Type: Myers-Briggs
Yeah, there was just a couple points difference in the Feeling vs Thinking and in the Judgement vs Perception categories. Otherwise, I'm pretty definitively Introvert and Intuitive.

This makes me want to retake the test again and see if I get something different. Though I might be one of those people who end up getting a different result every single time.

Re: You're Not My Type: Myers-Briggs
Alright, let's give this a whirl...
...hmmm...I'm putting uncertain on a lot of these questions...the reason being, with most of them I don't have enough data on myself to give an answer...with the rest it's I'm not sure if I'm more "yes" or "no" than any other person or I have no strong feelings one way or the other.
So my result may not be 100% accurate. But based off of what I was able to answer "yes" and "no" to, I got...
ITSJ
Hmmm. Low scores on ITS...bit better with J...

Maybe the test was unsure where you fell with the ITS categories which is why you got a low score.

Well, yeah, obviously. With me answering uncertain on a lot of stuff, how can it not give low scores?

I honestly wasn't being serious when I posted that. I was actually joking that since you were uncertain the test was uncertain. But now that it looks like it actually COULD be the case its not funny anymore.

Re: You're Not My Type: Myers-Briggs
Well, theeee - Oh - retickley, your depictions should not change since the underlying personality dimensions the test reveals are supposedly unchanging. The logic makes sense but it gives Myers-Briggs an almost essentialistic sign-of-the-Zodiac quality that's rather unrealistic. People do change - well, some people do. I've taken the test several times with little variation over the decades.Amazee Dayzee wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 3:47 pm This makes me want to retake the test again and see if I get something different. Part of the reason why I think it might change for me is because I can't remember the answers I put down last time so I might end up putting down different ones. LOL
Re: You're Not My Type: Myers-Briggs
Again, the theory is that your answers would not change because the questions relate to permanent attitudes and aspects of your personality. Um, okay. That strikes me as kinda unrealistic as your experience reveals, Amazz.Amazee Dayzee wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 1:26 am Part of the reason why I think it might change for me is because I can't remember the answers I put down last time so I might end up putting down different ones. Well this is weird. It just linked me to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoffroy's_cat
....kidding. It pegs me mainly as INFJ, but on the margins for most of the criteria.
So it also gives me INTJ, INFP, and INTP.
The description of both the first and second certainly ring true to me in more than a few ways though.
Even so... when the personality test gives you a quarter of its matrix to yourself, I think that's the equivalent of giving up and saying "dude, you're just complicated."
You know what's even more interesting, whenever I take one of those dubious hacked-together "what mythical beast are you?" personality quizzes I always get Gryphon...
