Thanks! Love playing with the emotional possibilities. A few well-placed lines to the eyes work wonders.

Darktober Day 10 - Designation

“A lot of the gods and goddesses I know have taken up a domain, something they closely associate themselves with and will answer mortal calls for those of the designation they need. As for me, I don’t think I’ve ever really wanted to be associated with just one or even two things. Goddess of Combat is an easy choice, but I like to think there’s more to me than that. In the end, it’s actually pretty common for a deity to not choose a domain at all, so at least I’m not alone.

Fun fact, Macabre was offered a position of Reaper, but he turned it down. He’d rather be known for his music.”

Darktober Day 11 - Origins

“I decided to look into David’s past, see how he ended up being adopted by Armon. It’s definitely not unheard of for a predator species to take in what would normally be their prey, but the reasons for such can be eye-opening. In this case, it very nearly brought tears to mine.

No doubt under normal circumstances, the predator-prey dynamic would have been followed, but Armon finding David’s entire clan being so callously massacred with him being the only survivor brought out a different emotion.

It is too bad that things weren’t smooth sailing for David afterwards, but every now and again bonds are passed into the fire to come out stronger. Not everyone gets to experience that luxury, and David has grown into a strong, good-hearted rabbit in the end.

I know I made the right choice to scout him out as my avatar.”

Darktober Day 13 - Laughter

“Macabre is very withdrawn most of the time. Rarely raises his voice, usually says no more than he needs to, and things he finds amusing typically only get a chuckle out of him even if those around him are a lot more boisterous. So it comes as a major shock to hear him just bellow a single laugh over something.

I don’t even remember what was so funny at the time, all I remember was how trippy it was to see him do that.”

Could him laughing at a sight be that Sickle's prank backfired on himself and he (Sickle) got the brunt of it in a humiliating manner?

After thousands of years of pranks one has got to end up blowing up in his face at some point.

Who knows? That’s what headcanons are for.

Darktober Day 14 - Horror

“Make no mistake, Macabre is a good person, and would never do anything that is considered ‘evil.’ He is perfectly fine with reminding others that he’s a demon, though, and his more monstrous Bone Lord form can strike terror in a lot of people.

But I can’t help but find comfort in seeing it. He revealed this form to encourage me to truly master my own Beast form while it was still borderline uncontrollable. I owe so much to Macabre.”

Darktober Day 15 - Hunger

“What can I say? I like food. Don’t worry, wasn’t sapient. Probably didn’t even know what was going on.

Didn’t realize Sickle was there until after I was done. Works out, I’d say.”

You have established that Mirage can swallow her prey whole right?

Yup, in both this and her regular form. Like a morbid funnel in action.

Darktober Day 16 - Anger

“Macabre and I had to be away from the main realm we hang out in for a while. Turned out that during that time, another demon named Marduk tried to take over, recruiting the wandering demon, Vex, for his plans. Vex was going along with things willingly, apparently simply out of boredom, but did actually try to defeat the friends we made there. Astonishingly, those mortals held their own, forcing Marduk, who was still in the process of regaining his power after a long imprisonment, to take over Vex’s body. The mortals still won, but Vex was infuriated over how he was treated and aided them in defeating and resealing Marduk.

Maybe it was a good thing Macabre and I weren’t able to help out. We probably could’ve taken the fight straight to Marduk quickly, which wouldn’t have given Vex the chance to fight for the good of the realm. It was after everything that Vex decided to fully disavow his allegiance to Hell, and not only did we make a powerful ally, I’d say he’s a good friend.

Once he learned to tone down his own brand of mischief, at least.”

Great to hear!

Darktober Day 17 - Sick

“I and a lot of others were surprised to learn that low-tier Infernals can’t withstand being in Heaven for extended periods. They begin to feel sick, usually nausea and headaches. Turns out their very essence is incompatible with the atmosphere. As long as their allegiance is still to Hell, that is.

Macabre never had this issue, as he had no reason to align with Hell from the start. Aria, however, only came to escape being wed to Macabre’s psychotic sister, Lilith. She hoped to keep the Goetia off her trail. Taking her to the mortal realms gave her a chance to recuperate, but she always held it off as long as possible to continue evading Lilith, until things were unbearable.

It’s a good thing she began to love another Celestial, as she finally had incentive to abandon her previous life. These illnesses stopped as soon as she declared her love and dedication for Caleb.

Huh, of the three rogue Infernals, being Macabre, Vex and Aria, only Aria suffered all of that. Vex disavowed Hell before showing up as well.”

Darktober Day 18 - Demons

“If anyone told me that I’d be this involved on a personal level with demons centuries ago, even marrying one, no way I would have believed them, yet life can throw surprises even to us. All of them abandoned Hell for their own reasons, yet the end result is the same. Vex, Macabre, and Aria are now considered of us, despite the rejections of a few *cough Lulay cough*.

I do hope more defect, but that’s a tall order. At least Halphas, Macabre’s father, knows we are offering an open hand.”

Darktober Day 20 - Whisper

“So I found out that Macabre had a small fortune in Infernal money with him when we were talking about getting materials for Ollie’s amulet. While it was worthless to him now, as Heaven doesn’t have an economy to begin with, Macabre used a small portion of it to bribe an Infernal smelter to get him some high-class silver and to keep the transaction off the books. Think this was the first time I learned that Macabre had a devious side.

Not sure how Macabre went undetected in Hell for long enough, considering he was rather infamous for leaving his royal place, but he got the materials without any issue. Keeping things hush-hush goes a long way.”

Darktober Day 21 - Error

“So, two things; never sabotage Macabre’s violin during a show, and NEVER call him ‘Mac’ after doing so. Somehow Sickle managed to make both mistakes. I’ll grant him this, Sickle hadn’t gotten to know Macabre yet at that point.

He definitely did once he managed to untangle himself from the Gordian knot Macabre locked his spine in for doing so.

A number of Celestials were also looking for any reason to paint Macabre in a bad light for being a demon, but because this was done to Sickle, everyone turned a blind eye.”

Dramatic comission there, the whole composition works really well, love the wave and water effect! Some excellent work I seem to have missed, yep, tuning is kinda important if you want to play with a band :-), you capture expressions well D-Rock.

Spotted!

Something I’m currently working on, planning to add more detail at some point, the setting: A Light Scout from the Duncoate Herdship is discovered. These Herdship militia volunteers are both lightly armed and lightly armoured, relying on their stealth and speed to evade any potential enemies and threats. The lack of armour makes them very hard to pursue and allows them to reconnoitre large areas quickly and silently leaving few tracks in their wake. They pride themselves on their ability to remember every small detail of their surroundings and are excellent trackers and map makers.

Darktober Day 22 - Derange

“So Macabre has a little sister. Her name is Lilith.

She wants nothing more than to prove her superiority over him, feeling that he’s a traitor to their family. First thing she did was gain his trust just to incapacitate him in order to kidnap Ollie. She didn’t anticipate how quickly Macabre would recover, or that she’d have to face off against him, Ollie, Cerberus and I at once.

I’ve been hearing that even for a demon that relishes her position, most in authority in Hell feel that she’s too much of a loose canon. Really says a lot about her, doesn’t it? As far as I can tell, the only person who shows approval of her actions is Gretchen, her mother.

So long as she intends to do harm to us, she’s not welcome as a member of our family.”

Darktober Day 23 - Matches

“While we really have no use for them, us Celestials do like looking into things mortals have come up with. Some collect these things simply for novelty’s sake.

Caleb once found this neat little survival pocket stove and wanted to try it out, though getting low-quality matches almost ended that experience. Frankly, it was almost too funny to see him struggle when he was right in front of someone who could literally breathe fire!”

From that picture alone I can tell Macabre is thinking that Caleb needs to get a grip. That or he is getting bored of watching Caleb get angry at matches. XD
