that's why I like money. anything I want is probably video games, so the less well off members of my family can't afford it. that leaves them getting me some smaller things (which I'm fine with) or just money, which means they're contributing to me getting a larger gift.

It's done in spirit of the season. It's supposed to be about giving, and I would be giving up material items so that the rest of my family can be more at ease with the economy's pressing down on my family's head.
