Oh. I understand now. You have to close one audition so you will be able to start the next one and then create a poll here.

Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
I have an early version of the sound! Chaoko should be clear to start animating and I'll fill in the rest of the sound effects and get an intro song in a later version. Also, should we have a minute-long AMV opening or something short and simplistic.
Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
I would go for the AMV, if the length of the episode warrants it. Also, would it be original or licensed?

Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
Just send it to me and I'll start as soon as I can!
As for the intro, I'd be okay with animating a one minute intro for the show. I was thinking we could use the theme made by Buckdida, except since we have some of the base cast members now we can actually have the cast sing the lyrics as planned or just have a different singer do it. I have the instrumental for the song ("Jumper" by Waterflame) so we can put the lyrics to that in editing.
We would have to get in contact with him to ask permission though (I think), but I don't know if he uses the HP forums anymore. If not I'll get a hold of his email and ask him.
EDIT: Here's what the original sounded like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxMa-rlZA58
Here's what the Lyrics are: https://www.housepetscomic.com/forums/v ... 6&start=40

It's been years since I've actually practiced, but I was in the Varsity Choir in high school. Bass, though, and I'm slowly losing my touch on reading music. If someone could put this to a sheet, it would be a good way to let others sing it.

I'm a Baritone in the Fairfax Choral Society. I'm game if I'm needed.
Feel free to call me Czu for short. The games on this forum are pretty neat.

Buck doesn't use the forums anymore but he's active on Twitter and Tumblr. you can find his twitter by searching buckdida and his tumblr by searching his twitter handle.

Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
The one thing that concerns me about Buck's theme is that although the words are original, the music belongs to someone else. It would be great if someone musical on the forums could compose a unique score for the show!
Sleet, maybe, if he has time? If she doesn't I'm sure we have other musical people that could help.

Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
That's true, it can be used. However, I'm not entirely opposed to someone coming up with their own tune, so long as it keeps the same tone and similar instruments. If someone wants to do that before the first episode is finish I'm a-okay with that.
Also, I've started working on the teaser animation to put on my youtube channel to let people know the series will be starting. Here's a sneak peak:

Ah sweet dang Chaoko, that looks great! And yeah, like Chaoko said, I'm also okay with a new tune being composed. But hey, I don't really have a say in this,

Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
Thank you!
On a side note, I went ahead and counted each of the arcs in each year, and have determined that there will probably be 10-15 episodes per "season" if we were to get that far. Some arcs are very short (like the Spot (Superdog) arcs), so they'd have to be put together in a form of "compilation" episode. Basically, those would feature both the short arcs and some of the one offs This way, they're still kept into the story but don't take up an entire episode on their own. Thoughts?

Seeing Chaoko's skills, I'm kinda glad I'm not the animator anymore. It looks awesome!
Also, I've got after effects, so if you need any editing, I can try my hand at it.

Really nice animation! It almost looks like it was done by a professional!
Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
Hey, I just had a thought. If the project does use the Buckdida opening, maybe the lyrics should be changed a little. I'm referring to the character section of the song, considering that Bino and Fido aren't exactly main characters anymore, maybe they should be replaced with Max and King maybe? I know Max isn't exactly a main character either, but it would even out the Dog:Cat ratio,
Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
The new lyrics, which Chaoko linked to, do include an updated character list which is not reflected in the song as it was never re-recorded.
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of using the song because it ignores standard stress patterns in quite a number of places, but y'all do what you want

Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
Actually, there's an entirely different problem with the character list:SuperStar wrote:Hey, I just had a thought. I know Max isn't exactly a main character either, but it would even out the Dog:Cat ratio,
A: Many of the newer characters (like The Wolves, The Ferrets, King, Bailey [besides a cameo in season 1], and Tarot) wouldn't actually appear until season two. Joel appears in the last arc of the first season, but "King" appears near the end of season two with 1 and 1/2 of an arc. So really, he can't be considered a main character either for a long while.
We may want to consider just removing/replacing that part, or we'll have to keep changing it for the first few seasons. It's too direct, we'd need something more "in general". The rest of the song does a good job of giving you the (very upbeat) gist of what the comic is about, but that part stands out just a tad.
This too, I was looking for what that was called, because I noticed that when actually singing the song to myself on occasionObbl wrote:Personally, I'm not a huge fan of using the song because it ignores standard stress patterns in quite a number of places, but y'all do what you want

Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
Quick question: What is a stress pattern in a song? Is that when you linger in the end of a line in a verse?
Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
Song's got looooots of lyrics.
Cartoon intros tend to not have lots of those
Like... Rock's Modern Life intro's only lyrics are "Rocko's Modern Life".
For example.

Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
Seriously, someone write one up, I want to look at the sheet music. Yes, five years is a long time to be out of practice, but I'm suddenly hyped for that possibility. Either shoot that down or someone get on it.
Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
Better question: What is a stress pattern? Long story short:Amazee Dayzee wrote:Quick question: What is a stress pattern in a song?
Just because you are singing a song does not mean the stress patterns do not exist.Wikipedia wrote:In linguistics, stress is the relative emphasis that may be given to certain syllables in a word, or to certain words in a phrase or sentence.
For example: You say "happy go lucky" as "HA-ppy go LU-cky", but in the song it is sung as "ha-PPY go LU-cky"
For example: You say "FIRST there is GRAPE JE-lly", but in the song it is sung as "FIRST there IS grape JE-lly"
These stick out to me like sore thumbs and just sound bizarre. It can really ruin a song for me.

Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
as counter examples: Spongebob, Fairly Oddparents, Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Duck Tales, Catdog, etc. they do tend to be short and some don't have many if any lyrics, so we don't really need lyrics.ArcWolf wrote:Song's got looooots of lyrics.

but if w want them, and if someone else could do the music and perform it, I could maybe write some.

Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
I enjoy writing poetry. I can write the lyrics of the song. I'll try to make it expandable too so we can edit it and change it as more characters appear. That or I won't even mention the characters so that it'll just work for all episodes.
I'm a little bit musical and I know a few musicians so I'll see if I can't get some sort of a tune down too.

I have a vague idea of a tune.
I'll get to recording it later.
