Because this is the first time he's told me I should head home, I've been dehydrated before and he still had me work for another 3 hours, plus its mostly the weather, see, last year there was a drought, and it was really darn hot, plus we were understaffed because two guys who have since been fired always were gone doing other stuff, and one guy was a useless drunk who got canned, we had to work on average 10 hours a day, 7 days a week to pick up the slack and fill the orders we got. according to the Farmer's almanac, which mind you has been right the last few years, is saying there is going to be no difference. Now, we have new guys, but they are useless for the longest time, plus we don't get days off or vacation time. The only time off I got last year was when I tore my shoulder, plus with the fact that I've been told by my doctor if I keep hurting my knees and shoulders, which occurred from working my farm job, I will need surgery. So, I'm not killing myself over $8 and hour.

I see.

All of that for only $8 an hour, I would probably quit too.

Look for a new job before you quit, if you do.

My teacher said 'you can get a job right now and get paid with minimun wage, or study more then get a better job at where they pays you off really well.
Tho it depends on economic variance.

Oh and sorry grey wolv, I was on mobile steam and forgot to turn it off before going to bed. I think I can at this afternoon.

Sometimes you need to study and get a part-time job. It really depends on how much you need the money. I think the job is more expendable than studying, though. But sometimes your family simply can't support itself otherwise.

Okay, so I went to see my doctor about my pain, and she said that my job is just killing me, so I have been advised to quit.

When I finish my work early in webpage design, I spent the rest of the time here.
I'm surprised that the school internet doesn't have it blocked.

They don't usually block specific sites unless they're big ones like Facebook or such.

School internet blocks tend to be a bit silly. In middle school they blocked any searches using the word "sword". They also blocked the word "violence".

Yea, but they have a block for "Forums", so I think it's kind of funny that they haven't blocked this sight even though I've been on it ever since I started the class. (Second semester)

When I started bringing my laptop to school in my senior year of high school, I found a slight loophole in their block. one of my browser's home tabs was my Facebook, already logged on. It seemed they only blocked the log in screen.

My middle school had a huge loophole in their blocking program.

If a sight was blocked, all you had to do was go to the URL and remove the word "Blocked" from it and you could get on the sight.
Not a very good way to keep kids out of gaming web sights.

My high school locked everything down. The only way to have any fun was to look for obscure flash gaming sites that weren't in any language you can understand.
It was only slightly miffing when they blocked a site that looked like it would be useful for a research paper.

I just paid attention and did my work in high school. The blocks never really were a concern. Here at college we can do whatever we want, though.

Some of the computers at my are super-locked, and you cant even acces the non math related websites, exxept minicilps.com

while other computers have major things like Youtube and Facebook available. Funny thing is the teachers are aware of it, they just dont care so much. Mtv.com is ALWAYS available.

Back in high school, most sites were blocked although you could still go to them, it just sent a message logging your access to that site to the IT department (who pretty much just went on whichever websites they wanted all day anyway).

Some big no-nos were completely blocked but the one that annoyed everyone was for some reason, Google Images was blocked. So if you needed a picture for an assignment you couldn't just google image search it. Even a Google search of "pictures of..." would result in blocked access to the actual pictures.

Then when I got to university I was like "...I-Is anything blocked...? What can I go on?"

YouTube is a very useful educational tool. It just has a ton of non-educational purposes. I'd say what schools should do is require permission to turn sound on, but keep YouTube unblocked.

I do my work, mostly. Hey, I get decent grades. Except for bullcrap like what my History teacher pulled. SHE DIDN'T PUT ANY GRADES INTO THE SYSTEM! Seriously, she hasn't graded half the work we turned in, I mean SERIOUSLY!

I have an English teacher who does that.

We'll do something, turn it in, then he hands it back the next class without grading it and says "We're going to just review this again."
That or we never turn it in at all. He'll just say "Keep it and study for the test."

Of course, he has only given 2 homework assignments the entire year. That makes it worth it for me.

The thing is, progress reports are out, AND I FAILED! Why? Because, the assignments are in the computer, and graded but the grades are not in the system, hence why it was actually mathematically impossible to get even a C.

A junior high school English teacher told me about one of her English or creative writing professors in college. The professor apparently looked like Santa Claus and had a "scholarly" English accent. He'd dress in shorts, Hawaiian shirts, and sandals every day. Halfway through the semester, a writing project was due that would make up 75% of the final grade. He collected the completed papers on a Wednesday. Friday, he walked into the class, set a stack of papers on his desk, swept his gaze along the students, and asked, tone indicating disappointment, "Is this the best you can do?" The students, embarrassed, said it was not and the professor pushed the stack into a desk-adjacent trash can. The next week, a similar scene played out and the students were sent home to feverishly re-write their essays once again. After three such incidents, the professor once again walked into class, surveyed his now very high-strung students, and, document-laden hand poised above his garbage receptacle, asked whether this was the best they could do. One student replied that yes, after three weeks of re-writes, she had submitted the best essay she could possibly write. The professor smiled from ear to ear, the first time any student had seen him do so. "Then perhaps now I shall read them."
