Here's an interesting discussion topic: If you could put yourself in any setting - from a book, a movie, a TV series, a genre, or real life - what would it be?

Actually, I'm not sure I'd want to be a pet. And my 'sona would probably end up stuck in a zoo in Housepets if he was anywhere near Babylon Gardens.

The first things that come to mind for me are Narnia and Redwall. ^^

Just about every book I've read, something was always trying to kill you. If I can survive the climax, I could choose then.

I don't remember that in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

I've never read those books, so I have no idea what goes on in them.

As a matter of fact, I haven't done much reading at all in the years since I graduated college, which is sad considering I could almost always be found in the library reading something. I kind of feel like rereading Watership Down. I also have some Halo novels and a Gears of War book that I got but never started.

I read the Halo book, First Strike, I liked it, especially for letting me know of other Spartans besides the Master Chief and Noble Team.

Some of the most "cool" settings (Harry Potter, Pokémon, etc.) have some terrifying implications to them that would make them a whole bunch more fun to imagine than actually live in. Honestly I'd love an idealized version of either of those, buuuut... probably something sci-fi. I like my electricity and indoor plumbing, thank you very much!

Harry Potter sounds like fun for your average person. Some magic here and there but otherwise I could make a living selling brooms.
Pokemon sounds horrible because, yeah sure you get your Pikachu, but don't forget all the wild Pokémon that probably have no problem having you for dinner. Tall grass is a danger.

Take the words from Jurassic Park the Lost World to heart, "Don't go into the long grass!"

In my opinion I would take the Tremors universe. Yes, there's giant subterranean worm creatures with a life cycle built for snacking on any unfortunate fellow to get in their way, but atleast they're almost extinct in their own universe. Plus I'd be safe cause I don't live near any desert or Prarie areas.. (which is where Graboids naturally populate..Mostly Nevada, Australia, mexico, South Africa, etc..) and I just find it pretty neat. It definately would limit vacation options in the winter, but meh. You win some, you lose some...

The chat thread seems to be going a lot slower than I remember it from a year ago. It used to go through many pages in a month, but now in several months it's only gone through 3 pages. Last time I checked was in August, and it was on page 45 then.

back before I showed up, they went through something like 50 pages in a couple weeks. it's why we started making a new one every 50 pages.

WHAT'S GOING ON?!
Almost looks like some sort of game show involving kit-versions of Kitsune.

it appears to be hollywood squares with Kitsune's top half filling 8 squares and his butt in the upper right square. Cerb is the host

I've seen the show once or twice. It's called Celebrity squares and it's pretty much naughts and crosses only with questions.

Two contestants take it in turns to pick a square with a celebrity in...then either the contestant or the celebrity, I can't remember which, has to answer a question correctly and the contestant's respecitve symbol (a naught or a cross) appears in that square.

It's where the timeless phrase "circle gets the square" comes from.

And yes, it toally needs to be some kind of spin-off arc where the Housepets cast play the game for some reason. I'm sure hilarity would ensue.

Curious sketch, Great Kitsune is always so awesome. :D King and Tarot really look to be rivals, in any contest. ;)
I recognized that the 9 squares are from a TV show, aired also in Italy despite I never got to watch it; the original name is Hollywood Squares.

The celebrity in the square has to answer the question(they usually give a joke answer followed by a real answer, or sometimes just a joke answer if they don't know it.), and the contestant has to decide if the answer is right or wrong. It they get it right, they get the square. if they get it wrong, the opponent gets it unless that would give them the 3 in a row needed to win the board. unlike in tic tac toe, if no one gets 3 in a row the win goes to the person who got the most squares.

Huh, sounds like the game show "Streets Smarts" was a simplified version of this game, where you had to pick someone to answer the question and then decide if they would answer the question correctly or not. Neat prospect, really, but never seen it.

That's true, Sleet!

In other news, I watched a spider trying to climb my wall this evening. He fell off four times before giving up and hiding under the skirting board. It was funny to watch even though I hate spiders. ^^

Today I learned I can do a passable impression of Wilykat from the original Thundercats, which means one thing... either he's supposed to be older than I thought or he was miscast cause he didn't sound that young.

Or just the voice sounds different! Most voice actors are nowhere near their characters' ages.

yeah, but at least nowadays they try to get actors who's voice can sound believably like that age. all of the teen titans, Steven Universe. I suppose Dipper Pines may be an exception, Jason Ritter sounds like an older teen at the youngest.

So this has been out for awhile now. So early in December, we had the reveal of the suits for the new Sentai (or japanese Power Rangers) season Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger, which is going to be space themed. Here take a look.
Image

Personally, I love them. What I really like about these suits is that some of the rangers have different touches to them. Like the black and gold ranger having more armor, pink having wings, and blue having fur on his neck (if you look closely). Also worth noting is that this is the first time we've have an official female green ranger and while this ain't the first we've had more than just either five or six rangers (Dekaranger/Power Rangers SPD had nine, Magiranger/Mystic Force had eight, Go-Onger/RPM had seven, and Kyoryuger/Dino Charge had ten), this is the first time the nine rangers appear all at once as other seasons I mentioned had the extra rangers appear later on. Another thing to note (if you're wondering about the helmets), the rangers are based off of both the modern constellations and animals.

Red is a leo (lion)
Blue is a lupus (wolf)
Yellow is a dorodo (swordfish)
Black is a taurus (Bull)
Green is a chamaeleon (chameleon)
Orange is a scorpio (scorpion)
Pink is an aquila (eagle)
Silver is an ophiuchus (snake)
Gold is a libra (scales) and he's so far the only one that's not based off an animal

What are you're guys thoughts on these suits?

The additional armor on Gold and Black reminds me of Beetleborgs. Even then, pretty cool, though I feel odd that there's an orange ranger. People familiar with Sentai, hasn't there only been one prior? I know SPD made one just for a dream sequence, and considering it used the Space Ranger helmet, I have my doubts it had a Sentai original.

wait, a Green AND black ranger on the same team? that's pretty rare by itself...

as for orange, we had Boom & Kat in those colors in SPD, though Kat wasn't referred to by her color, and Boom's suit was a dream. and that one sentai with the trains that hasn't been translated yet... can't think of any others.

also golds armor reminds me more of 1st movie white ranger than BB...

Only team that I can think of that had green and black as starting members was RPM.

As for another team that had orange, I was thinking Battle Fever J
Image
Some of the worst designs, in my opinion.
Third Sentai team.

Anyway, strangely enough I rather like Gold's design the best.

So a fellow student got to act as Santa during lunch and you were able to take pictures with him up on stage. Everyone sorta felt pity for him until the entire girls volleyball team went up to take pics. First, one at a time and then all together trying to fit on the chair. I then heard a hour later that tomorrow's volunteer Santa list just recived a huge bump in numbers.
