Re: Joys And Sorrows
I've been tenpted to join Discord from time to time, but held back for the same persistent discomforts - cybersecurity, exposure of my personal (and financial) sites, too too much on-line time waste already, and assorted horror stories like yours, Is. it's - as the stock brokers say - a risk/reward trade off.
Re: Joys And Sorrows
Long talk today with my sister-in-law, Karen. She's finally put up for sale the house she inherited from my brother, Richard, after his untimely passing back in December, 2022. She's a good person, but very different in many ways from me and the missus, and Tilton is a long way from Rye. She's set out some of Richard's old things and stuff he inherited from our parents so we can pick them up once I'm done with this stinkin' virus. Karen's moving about an hour north to Lincoln where a number of her skiing pals live and looking for a house for herself and the retriever, Parker (named after the tiger from Life of Pi. Wyndon, their kitty, will live with a neighbor. We'd love to have him, he's a darling creature - but not sure how compatible he'd be with our Mighty Skipperkees. Another milestone ...
Lot of mixed emotions .......

Infuriated at those who know better: While I was browsing the internet at my local library, I came across game data from Super Bomberman Collection. Game Data from a collection that isn't even a year old being posted where it shouldn't be at that point.
People should just know better as there is a reason why Pirates are mocked and ridiculed. But these aren't the standard pirates. These are Scrappers. (Coined by Microsoft Copilot when I told it about the situation.)
Another thing that should be asked is 'Why do publishers go out of their way to put the likes of Denuvo in their games?' Because of these losers who blatantly uploaded things they shouldn't.
Want the game data? Buy it on steam as it doesn't cost that much.

Sorrow: After it being warm and kind of pleasant to be outside for the last few days, it looks like the temperature is dipping down again and its about to get cold so I won't be able to go out without a jacket once again. It's April so I really am hoping the weather begins to improve and stop changing its mind on whether it is going to be chilly or nice out.
Re: Joys And Sorrows
Still not quite over this "virus".
Re: Joys And Sorrows
April may finally warm up enough to stop being late March ... at least just in time before May gets here.

Sorrow: Today was my great aunt's wake and it hasn't hit me yet that she is gone even though I saw her laid out on the coffin today but I know that it will. The funeral is tomorrow so that will be the last time I see her before they close the lid.

Sorrow: Today (the 26th) is the 12 year anniversary of the death of my grandfather on my mother's side in addition to just burying my grandaunt who was his sister-in-law. April 26th is also the day my life changed forever PERMANENTLY because my grandfather was a mainstay in my life since birth.
Re: Joys And Sorrows
Today was my father's birthday. He left us in 1998, a few month's after my Mom died unexpectedly. They were like a pair of foxes, mated for life, so my brother and I did not expect Dad (at age 90) to hang around as a widower much longer. He didn't.
I never really knew my grands - they all passed during my toddler years. Heard lots of stories, though.

Sorrow: My sibling's boyfriend is graduating college and he is having a big family dinner on the 16th that we were invited to but the 16th is a Saturday and I work. Plus I doubt I will get anybody who is able (or willing) to switch with me.

I keep fighting my head contantly between speaking Japanese and Chinese, every single time! I wanna speak Japanese, not Chinese... it's not like I have anything against the language I just wanna focus on Japanese but OCD keeps butting in Chinese whenever I want to speak Japanese

About a quarter of the time I'm speaking Spanish, my brain will really want me to say a German word instead at random points and I'm incapable of digging the Spanish equivalent out of the dank, dark recesses of my mind. I feel your pain...IsraeliDisneyFan wrote: βWed Apr 29, 2026 4:47 am I keep fighting my head contantly between speaking Japanese and Chinese, every single time! Re: Joys And Sorrows
Over my decades, I learned to read a number of languages and speak (amatuerishly) in some of them. Those skills have now atrophied but I remember enough cliches and idioms that they occasionally pop out. When that happens, i often get into trouble because someone will (1) accuse me of showing off or (2) try to engage me in a conversation in that language which I can't sustain. Sigh.

Sorrow: My grandfather passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, early yesterday morning, aged 93, after 72 years of marriage to my grandmother.
Joy: He's gone home to God and is now free from his dementia and other health issues.

Sorrow: Heading to the shrink tomorrow to get pushed more pills.
Joy: At least I can write something in particular which I would need a week to work on since Mothers Day is one of my personal "Poison Days"

Sorrow: This week and next week I am working 4 days instead of 3 which is an increase in my working schedule when I am used to working 3 days so I know I probably will be dead tired by the end of next week. I can only pray that this is because my boss is on vacation.

So sorry for your loss, Hlao, may God grant him abounding joy. And Dementia is such a crushing ordeal for the victim and all family members. Here's to better days, mate.

Sorrow: While cleaning out my left ear canal I caused it to swell so now everything is completely muffled and I can't hear correctly. When this happens I have to wait a week or more for my hearing to go back to normal.

Joy: lots of early spring wildflowers blooming in the wild lawn, and the bees and butterflies are coming back.
Sorrow: So is the swollowort, that invasive spieces plague that means back to the weeding work soon.

Sorrow: It is Memorial Day which is a big day for people who want to buy shrimp and guess who couldn't get more boxes out because the freezer door was frozen shut?
Joy: Nobody bought much so I didn't have to refill any section and there wasn't too big a hole so it all evened out!
