not quite, since "there" is bolded. the emphasis is different, which changes the meaning.

Convenient as in who will be of greater benefit to the dog.
There as who is just next to you.

I thought she meant to only have puppies when it was convenient and not with random dogs.

Convenient is bolded, too. That's exactly what it means.

Who says Duchess dumps whoever she meets? Though it does certainly look to be like that which i won't argue is also a good possibility. I'm just holding out she's the type that doesn't want to go through a dating process, wasting time with petty romances and will immediately point the finger at the guy she finds interesting and marry them on the spot.

Duchess seems to also be going by the tradition that some people i know would speculate how real life animals date: Convenience. The big difference of course is the lifespans and intelligence levels, which makes this comic much more enjoyable to read!

I think that it is not hard to see King becoming an "Alvin Purple" like character. He is a victim and all the females are the predators.

No; for pacing's sake I am pushing that back a while. But you'll love it when it comes.
Will I? I wasn't exactly supportive of the Bailey and King pairing in the first place, and I still think that until King fully accepts being a dog (if that is indeed what he will choose), something here ain't right. Plus it's not the FIRST thing I would want for King.

Still............. Can't! Wait!

People shouldn't get too worked up over her views, she's a purebred show dog. Have people forgotten that mankind didn't engage in hundreds of years of selective breeding and domestication for the good of the dog after all. Also, fair warning, any of you use that as the ground floor of a 'humans are evil' debate, I may hurt you.

Some people can view romance as just a simple thing in life rather than an important thing because they choose to have more important things to do, like work. Probably why Duchess may come off as a well financed dog as well. Depends on how they are raised. I wouldn't say her views are right either, but she does have the money while most pets live off of a allowance.

It's not so much her views on romance as it is the fact that she views other people (or dogs or whatever) as a means to an end.
Spoiler alert: I don't think Duchess is meant to be a role model.

Why do we need to debate that? Anyway since this a couples competition, do you think the entire troupe of Bigglesworths will come out to play?

I personally think Duchess is pretty awesome,
I have a soft spot for the antagonist/foil to the hero and that back and forth with King was Gold (THAT'S GOLD JERRY GOLD!)

Can't believe I didn't say this before...

Dare I hope it: Did King just demonstrate assertiveness?!

And I do wonder with this latest development just how much of his human existence King is still hanging on to? Then again, he's been in this state for over two years of his natural life... :?

You have to remember: Babylon Gardens was about Henry Milton trying to show that the sentient pets of the HP world can be like humans. So many act close to human. That includes all the relationships we've seen.

As I said on the strip's comment thread, Duchess is probably very orthodox about natural dog behavior, to the point of being even more orthodox than the Good Ol' Dogs Club. She thinks relationships are stupid, and is content with pairing up only when necessary.

Justin "dogs dont talk, why am i even here?" (don't reply to him ether)

Duchess is against dogs acting too much like humans, and dogs normally don't actually have "girlfriends" especially not long distance ones.

Probably why we haven't seen much of her. She doesn't like to hang around with the other dogs in the neighborhood. Thinks they have lost their identity or something...
