I don't recall saying that
I didn't really admit I was a furry until I started posting here so I may have said somethig to that effect before.

I used to openly be a furry in real life. Then some of the people I told learned the...dark side to the fandom.

...

Long story short, I'm not totally open about my being a furry anymore. It's all thanks to the perverts of the fandom that people sometimes look down upon us as a whole.
*giggles* Those people became so paranoid around me. XD

So if your not furry, why do you have a species picked out already?

Truth be told I find the idea to be neat and have given thought to wearing a fursuit. However I don't think could ever stand begin inside as I wouldn't be able to see or hear as good and that could lead to a panic attack.

There are several issues here. Please bear in mind that we have rules. Among those, you may find the following of interest:
  • Do not derail a discussion thread. While it is acceptable to go off-topic for a post or two, it is much less so to overtly change the topic for an extended period.
  • Don't stretch the page. It is completely unnecessary to write a long string of characters uninterrupted by spaces. Similarly, outside comic translations and the Media Median, there is no reason to post images more than 500 pixels wide.
  • No one-word or single-image responses. If you cannot contribute to one conversation, find another to participate in. (This rule does not apply to some forum games.)
  • No Trolling. Any topic or response purposely intended to incite flames WILL result in a ban. Even if you attempt to have a "serious" conversation, and bend or tiptoe around the board rules as a result, this counts as trolling.
  • Being here is a privilege, not a right. Your account may be suspended over matters of instigation (arranging DDoS, troll baiting) against this site and any attempt to use the board as recruitment for any illegal or other activity against the rules of this forum, including creating and advertising for boards, chat rooms, and Web sites solely for the purpose of defaming or subverting the rules of this forum, even if the activity was private or did not occur on the forum itself.
Yes, I am a furry.

I remember being taught by my one friend that 'furries are all freaks and *a few expletives* who ruin everything with' I'm just gonna say 'bad pictures.' I took that to heart and wanted nothing to do with the fandom.

Then I was properly introduced to the fandom. Well, here I am now!

And then I bothered him about it for labeling a whole group as a bunch of *a few expletives* and people who draw...stuff or...well, you know. I used myself as an example of a 'normal' furry. (Not that that's possible :P)

He didn't get it and is still a hater. (Thank goodness I don't go to that school anymore~~~)

There's good and bad things about the fandom, but there's good and bad things about a lot of stuff... I take in the good and avoid the bad to the best of my ability.

Not really. While I still think I'm a Furry(people call me that and I don't mind, also I have a 'sona and hang out with you guys, plus I like anthros obviously), I don't see it as bad thing. I don't get fursuiters though, especially in summer.

exactly
if you're identify as furry you have to deal with sharing a fandom with some less than savory characters, no different than any other group.

Missed that part, maybe? I just said I don't get fursuiters, as well. Don't get, not don't like o3o
Don't get because I can't even stand the mere thought of being in a full, closed suit. Isn't it way too hot, and doesn't the air get used up rather fast(as in you only get to breathe stale, damp air)? > n >

It still looks like so much fun. People seem to get so happy around fursuits! Even those that don't immediately go up for a hug or a high five or whatever still seem pretty amused by it. I can't wait to get one years from now!

Honestly, I would conciser getting one. I was just stating a relevant thing I had heard a few times. Still, they are really expensive, however, a starting wage for a union apprentice is $40 and hour. And at a nuclear power plant, you start out making $80+ and hour.

They say being shy isn't usually a concern; it's easy to just be the character when you're fursuiting. A lot of fursuiters take breaks, too, so they don't overheat.

And with what Sleet said about being easier to be a character, its true. I was once part of a forum and ended up creating an alternate version of myself, complete with a history and stories. Mostly it was to try my hand at an anthology type story and it ended up going pretty well for a while. But I got tired of it after a year, and thus the reign of Chester 6 came to a close.

I gotta disagree there
I really dont think I could maintain the typical furry character for any extended amount of time.
Randomextra wrote:Any tips for getting into character\making character?
When I make characters for the RP board I just take a facet(s) of my personality and magnify them.
Just take part of yourself and turn it up to 11
that's not hte only way to do it but if you're really stumped it's a pretty easy way to get started.
