Been and returned, Amazee. An old pal was retiring, and I wanted to see him off.

Yes i know but how long was the flight? I live in Rhode Island and I'm going to NC to visit my sister and we have to fly and I am TERRIFIED of flying.

Well, your experience might be different. My first flight was NH to Baltimore, about 90 minutes. Then almost two hours layover in BWI. Finally, an hour and a few minutes down to Raleigh and a car rental to drive to Laurinburg. Hope that's reassuring, chum. ;)

We have a direct flight which I guess is good because I don't have to worry about experiencing turbulence when we take off for the second time if we have to re-board.

After seeing that news article about the Florida plane going off the runway and into a river in my AOL feed I am SERIOUSLY hoping we don't end up having any mishaps. >.<

Yes, I did. On the plus side, I got a taste of paradise as I was waiting for the almighty's verdict. Nothing pornographic but it have every possible media and video game material that could be made alongside meeting the greats and awesome stuff.

He decided I need more experience with life. That solidified my will to clean up my act as well as be the best I can be.

This is way more common than you know, and a good reason I don't drink coffee.

Nah. Surfer's Paradise is just the name of the suburb. It's so named because it does actually get decent surf at times.

A few weeks ago, I passed my two spring semester classes with flying colors. Cartography and an introductory SQL class. Cartography was easy, since I’ve been studying to get a degree in GIS for a bit now and the final was just “make two presentation-quality maps with the techniques you’ve learned.” Got a 100 on the final and a 97 in the class overall. SQL was tougher, though; I can learn the interface of mapmaking software inside and out over the course of two semesters, but memorizing a programming language is almost beyond me. Managed a B on the final and the class overall.

My summer class, Web GIS, starts up June 3rd. Probably going to have to learn how to use some markup language, but the Web GIS interface is built and managed by the same people who make the software I’ve already been using, and we already got some hands-on time with it as part of one of our Cartography assignments and it was real intuitive. I should be fine.

Overall, it feels phenomenal to finally have found something that’s so far in my wheelhouse. I just wish I’d learned about GIS sooner, closer to when I’d graduated high school. Spent way too long trying to get a Geology degree, but simply couldn’t crack the higher level math and chemistry.

Same here. Wanted to be a paleontologist, great at geology, botany, and zoology but the chemistry just didn't work. Did get to go on a couple digs much. much later so never quite lost the itch. ;)

Joys: Professor's laid out the syllabus and course materials already. Everything's right there for me to download and organize into a folder. Wasn't really that big of a surprise, since the professor is the head of the GIS Department and is almost always on-point with stuff like this, but it's nice to have since the SQL class I took over the spring semester was more or less a disorganized mess. I do have to buy a textbook, but luckily it's only 50 bucks.

Sorrows: My sleep schedule is slipping. Had a good thing going over the last couple weeks, finally waking up in the morning, but over the course of this weekend I slipped back into my old habits. Going to have to fix that over the course of this week so I can settle into a good daily routine for my class.

Oh I know what you mean when it comes to a sleep schedule. I think that I have something great set up then I end up falling back into old patterns and its hard for me to fix it.
