Technically Christmas continues until January 5th. People just tend to ignore the rest of the Christmas season.

Joy: Got a good 12 hours of sleep last night (give or take), so I'm primed for the week ahead ... whatever that might involve, it being the holidays and all.
Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.

Ah, 12 hours of sleep. I could really use a day or two of that, as soon as the adrenalin of the Holiday rush wears-off.
Sorrow: I fear that I'm experiencing one of the plagues in my basement. Only, instead of locusts, it's lots of spider crickets coming from out of nowhere (kind of cute though).

We had a plague of ladybugs in November. They're all starting to die now. =P

Not sure if the dying-off part in your case is a joy or sorrow (definitely a joy if you're an aphid). I remember seeing a huge congregation of ladybugs at my university a few years back (numbering in what must have been thousands). Aside from the Northeastern US, this summer/fall was the warmest in terms of global-average surface temperature on record and probably favorable in many spots for ladybugs and other critters to proliferate like crazy... Probably chalk that up to another sorrow.

Sorrow: We took our Christmas tree down
Re: Joys And Sorrows
This reminds me of a winter camping trip when I was in Scouts Canada. We slept in a refurbished barn had poor insulation, whilst climbing around the empty bunk beds during my free time I found one of the top bunks was filled to the brim with a red carpet of ladybugs. I was awestruck, so I'd call that experience a joy to take my mind of the sorrow of trying to sleep cold with very loud snoring emanating from the bunk above my own.dryideabat wrote:Not sure if the dying-off part in your case is a joy or sorrow (definitely a joy if you're an aphid). Stan Lee is 92!?... If (heaven forbid) they ever reboot the Spiderman series again, I say he should play the role of Spiderman. Go Stan Lee!... Okay, I'm just kidding, but could you imagine?
Joy/Sorrow: attempted to start the second item on my New Year's resolution list early: lose some weight/ get back in shape. Kind of sore now... But it's a good kind of sore.

If they cast Stan Lee, I'd expect the movie would end with Spider-Man in a care home. xD

Sorrow: My truck is running really rough right now. Like, some of the cylinders are misfiring or something and the entire thing rattles something fierce. We're gonna bring it to the repair shop tomorrow and hopefully they'll fix it pretty quick.
I was SUPPOSED to bring it somewhere else tomorrow and get the rear window resealed so it'll stop leaking in the rain, but that's not happening now.

Joy; Wednesday I get to spend time with my sister and go to "Into the Woods". I haven't had a chance to spend time with her, and she has been not feeling well lately.

Joy : It's cold tonight. Very cold. With a temperature of 9 and a windchill bringing it down to a "Feels Like" of -2F, it's fantastic.
Sorrow : Having some friend issues, getting really close to the point of just treating them as one of those people you occasionally say "Hi" to in the hallways.

Re: Joys And Sorrows
This morning my oldest cat died. I heard noises at one o'clock in the morning and went looking. She lay at the foot of the stairwell and had convulsions. I wrapped her in a warm blanket and waited til morning to rush her to the vet at the earliest convenience. They diagnosed epileptic seizure, from a blood vessel in her brain bursting or whatever they couldn't tell. Just a few weeks ago they did her bloodworks as she got a cortisone shot against her anemia, everything looked fine. Yesterday she followed me through the house and wanted to be petted.

Re: Joys And Sorrows
Thanks, guys. She was my first pet and we went through a lot, she was a real member of the family. There's faint consolation she hadn't had to wither away in her advanced age, she was almost 11 and had other disorders to fight with. The doc said the epilepsy made her not consciously experience anything, I hope they were right.

Joy: has been a second snowy morning. Never seen so much snow fall here, but what's great is that it happened in the last day of the year, it never happened before (here snow falls only once a year always in January or February). I take it as an auspicious thing for the new year.
If it's that project you showed time ago, well, it's impressive. And then you never showed anything else of it.Hukley wrote:Superjoy: I finally finished my picture-book
