Conversation between Grape and Max at their Yarn Ball date
Max: "Is it just me or are there NO normal couples among us pets?"
Grape: " I'm not sure why that is; maybe it's because we're trying awfully hard to mirror humans."
Max: "...and you think we can't succeed?"
Grape: "Sure we can but without picking up baggage..."
Max: "What do you mean?"
Grape : "I mean I'd really like to get through my dating life without ending in the middle of a love triangle..."
Scene cut to a heartbroken Peanut watching a romantic movie. Three strips later, Tarot appears followed by Grape's observation "This girl's completely insane."
Interesting the variations on pet "relationships" over the years. King and Bailey get married; King used to be human. There are no other marriages to date although Miles and Lucretia, a very happy couple, seem to have thought of it. Besides "Grapenut", Jessica and Zach have a cross-species romance, again quite happy, devoted, and no marriage interest (any thoughts, Ink?) Like Grape, Sasha is the only other girl who's played the field. For now, she's seems quite committed to the new and improved not-dolt Kevin, but has passionate friendships with King and Fox. Unlike Grape, Sasha displays no attraction to other species (a la Mungo/Satau).
Tarot reads minds but she can't get on Peanut's wavelength … maybe she flunked high school chemistry. (It's okay, love - so did I.)
Love's a many splendored thing, ain't it?
