It's an 'Elaine's telling stories'. She might well be making things up. Especially as it implies he lost his arm AFTER they moved in.fenrirblack wrote:

Re: 2018/08/03 - Sneak Attack
Jack’s laid back, relaxing on rocks,
as the others all do his bidding.
Hunting’s the other guys’ game
and Daryl might bring back pudding.
A noise and he’s alert for action,
tense, dense and ready to pounce.
Gale has found her next little Wolf,
the next one she’s going to trounce.
She remembers old Jack, it seems,
although he may have forgotten her.
She was younger the last time they met
and now what will fly? His head or his fur?
(Guessing his fur)
as the others all do his bidding.

Re: 2018/08/03 - Sneak Attack
When you think about it hard enough you need to ask why the cubs would be asking to hear the story if it did happen after they moved in. They would already know about it. Logically it would have had to happen before they were born or could remember. Which begs the question why is everyone lying about it then? At this point, I hope Gale was the cause because that would definitely make this confrontation more interesting.Xane wrote:Plus the arm already happened before they moved into a house! Maybe! Well, the cubs also wanted to hear Uncle Deadeye's story, enough to have a "favorite part."

Ugh, considering it was back in Year 6 we shouldn't be surprised. Thank goodness we grown pass that and have reached a more mature story. A story of intrigue, love, hate, karmic justice, scandal, drama, dangerous wild animals, and most importantly the possibility of...saucy history.
And considering that is the closest thing we have to an explanation I vote we keep that as the real story and stick with it. Ignorance is bliss.

My bad. I didn't pay close enough attention to the tags. I assumed the pup in Wednesdays strip was the same as Monday's because they look so similar from the back and the pit scene in Wednesday's could logically follow Monday's pit scene with the same pup if no time had passed between.

Eheheh, that's your way to provide for food, Jack. But, your relax isn't going to last long. Oh, Gale really wants to take all the wolves one by one... Indeed, she's so bigger than you, Jack. You can't do nothing against her, also because of your missing arm. Please Gale, be gentle with him (also if he doesn't totally deserve it)...

There’s no way to tell from that scene. From Jacks line he could know her and recognize her or not. We won’t know til Monday. It could go one of two ways.Welsh Halfwit wrote:She knows Deadeye. Jack: Gale! It’s been to long. My have you gotten big...um...more beautiful?
Gale: Hmm hm.
Grabs Jack by the throat.
Or
Jack: Umm
Gale: You don’t recognize me do you?
Jack: Ummmmm
Gale: *Growls* You promised you would call but never did. You left me standing in the rain. I thought we had something special. Now you’ll never leave me again.
I’d say the first one. I think they know each other and Jack will recognize her once he sees her face.

Re: 2018/08/03 - Sneak Attack
I feel compelled to point out this is the second strip named Sneak Attack.
It's also possible she doesn't know Deadeye directly, only by reputation. However, her calling him "the blind reddish one" instead of "a blind reddish one" makes it slightly more likely she was refraining from using his name for Pueblo's sake instead of out of ignorance.Welsh Halfwit wrote:She knows Deadeye. Re: 2018/08/03 - Sneak Attack
Well, her question to Peublo describing Unca Deadeye indicates her son has seen the old fella before and would recognize him on sight. Pueblo may or may not know Deadeye's name but the cub would have to be pretty obtuse not to sense her relief that this particular wolf is absent. If be knows Deadeye, Pueblo may know some of the other wolves ... at least by reputation.
So far, none of the captured wolves seem to know Gale.... except Jack .... mebbee.

Re: 2018/08/03 - Sneak Attack
Since we won't know what Jack's and Gale's relationship is until Monday, lets take a moment to figure out the long term story is. Specifically what is Gale's end game?
It's been pointed out that we have half the camping party in a pit now. Along with Jack that makes 5 and leaves four (not counting King and Family). Now what? Is Gale going to continue to throw the rest of the wolves into a hole until Miles is all that's left?
In my mind, I believe that this entire chapter is going to end around labor day. It's the unofficial end of summer and sets up any "Cub's go to school" story. That leaves Rick roughly 12-14 strips left to wrap up this storyline.
Here are my thoughts. I think Jack is going to be the turning point. She clearly knows him. Why else would she use the word "Jack" instead of "bud" or "pal"? So depending on Jack's fate, several things could happen.
First, Jack manages to escape (unlikely but lets roll with it) he informs Miles of Gale's plot which leads to a epic showdown/rescue mission. Second, Jack is captured and we move on from him.
No matter what happens to Jack, there is the Poncho & North Star section. Both of these characters have already been set up so far. Poncho wants a mate and we want him and Gale to hook up. Unlikely but okay. North Star has already voiced his displeasure with school but as we've seen with DVS that attitude can and will change. So that leads to a few possible story lines. Poncho and North Star are captured. Poncho and Gale hit it off while North Star joins the "School must be better than a pit" club. Another possibility, North Star and/or Poncho join the epic rescue mission to save the others. Another would be some variation on the two.
Then there is the elephant in the woods. What is King doing there? So far he has had a minor role in this chapter but Rick made a show of having "Nostalgic" King make everyone else look bad. He must have some purpose other than to be a tag along. (I hope.) So what is his role? Hero, victim, comic relief? I still like my idea about King charging into Gale's cave with the spatula and portable pancake grill.
Then there is the biggest question hanging over this story. What was the point of all this? Gale could have easily walked up to Miles and told them to get lost but instead has been steadily kidnapping half the pack. What is the endgame? A confrontation/anime style battle scenario or is something going to happen that forces Gale and the wolves to put aside their differences? Or is it going to be something so unexpected that no one saw it coming? They were all being watched by some shadowy figure the entire time! Or will the cult have some significant role or foreshadowing moment after all?
Those are my thoughts on the subject.
