It’s... it’s over... the year long arc is over... wow.
Wait are we witnessing the rise of the new antagonist?

Shoot. Guess you can't win them all.
But at least the epilogue was awesome! Happy 10 years of Housepets, Rick. I can't express how happy you've come along way from writing this comic. =)
EDIT: Just realized we did get fox kits. x3

Looks like Craig is wishing he paid more attention to that little religion that sprang up in a previous life. Whenever entering a bet one should always be mindful of living with the loss conditions.
I would say that Steward will be an ongoing concern. He does seem to have adapted fairly well.
Congrats on 10 years.

Rivers of belief, they say
flow in all those who care.
But they’re talking Opener
and Jess just isn’t there.
There’s dangerous talk
around the dinner table
between Jess, the lovely Ink
and one whose fall is fable.
But corruption listens on
and quietly minds his manners.

Blasphemy is acceptable only between the hours of 7am and 4:30pm. Limited blaspheming may be arranged for after 7pm, but only after you've finished eating all of your veggies.

Re: 2018/06/01 - End Of Year Ten
The setup is looking quite real, though - Stewart is probably going to try using the coin to curse everyone in town into animals, but i wonder about the curse on the coin itself? Does it have limits?
Also, Jess is totally talking about Rick.

Calling it now! That was confirmation on the Coin being used for evil means... Like starting a cult of animals that used to be humans! It would be interesting to see a dark arc.

We finally have a confirmation on the kit's names, though I think everyone already figured them out

As I've said earlier, despite being a powerful magical artifact, I don't see how Steward can effectively profit off of the coin. There is however, enough foreshadowing in this strip to turn day to night so I'm excited to see what becomes of this. Now that we have confirmed Kix is bringing up the two former demigods in Jessica's den, why did Jessica say "fox cubs" in Telltale Fox instead of something more general, like "fox family". Slightly related to that, I wonder if they have a dad or if [insert any Disney inciting insolent here] happened.
The cape comes with the promotion.

Who's been teaching the woodland creatures words like "proselytize"?

Like it or not, the answer might be 'themselves'. Miles said he "taught himself to read and write and amassed an amount of books". I'm not saying all the forest creatures do this of school is superfluous and everyone can self teach, but that ferals have access to stuff like libraries and it's technically possible for them to become eroodite (pun intended).Iceheart wrote:Who's been teaching the woodland creatures words like "proselytize"?

I wonder if Craig will realise his mother has faith in him? (through Zach, of course)

Wouldn't 'Craig' and 'Draig' be onto him though? They could try to steal the Coin in an attempt to getting their old lives back. Provided that Coin can do such a thing...leinglo wrote:I called it! Re: 2018/06/01 - End Of Year Ten
All the coin can do is turn humans into animals. Functionally it’s worthless to them. Plus, it’s been established that nobody is going to take seriously the input of fox kits on celestial matters, so even if they try to out Steward for what he (probably) will try to do, nobody will believe them. Nobody in the forest, at any rate...MrBlueSky7 wrote:Wouldn't 'Craig' and 'Draig' be onto him though? They could try to steal the Coin in an attempt to getting their old lives back. What I think might happen is that if Steward does try to make a power play with the coin, 'Craig' and 'Draig' will be the ones who go to warn the only people that would believe them: King, Tarot, and the others who were involved in the game.

Ooh, that foreshadowing is delicious! I wonder if Craig will recognize the coin at some point in the future.

Re: 2018/06/01 - End Of Year Ten
I doubt it means anything, but I've noticed that we've had yet to actually see any dialogue from Steward ever since he became a badger.
Telltale Fox and The More Things Change seem to imply he's spoken to at least Jessica, but in neither one do we actually get to see what Steward said.

What do you get when you cram a shapeshifter, a dog-dragon, two wolves, a human, a robot, a bear, and a fox into one vessel? (They/Them pronouns)

Do you mean her line about letting go of the opener thing? Meaning what that readers have been asking Rick if he was done with it? Sorry I guess I am also of little faith and need the obvious explained to me LOLGameCobra wrote:Also, Jess is totally talking about Rick.

I agree Jessica: after the temple falling, it's time to end this "Opener of Ways" thing, and I can relate her, because she wants Zach all for herself. You seem to dream with open eyes, Custom Ink. The faith to the Opener gave Jessica a moment of happiness, but now stop... Craig knows something more, actually, because of his past... Oh, Steward is still holding the cursed coin. But, can it now be like another source of grand power?

I see folks are debating just how important the coin can be, you forget though this world is loosely based on the real one, I am sure there are many people who would be willing to give up their savings in order to touch it...
Or sure, some kind of revenge plan instead.

Re: 2018/06/01 - End Of Year Ten
The possibility of Steward becoming the main antagonist is one of the things I cannot wait to see. I have so many ideas and thoughts on what could happen, and am always looking forward to more from this amazing comic.
And I'm also rather looking forward to guest week! This is the first one I have really been around for, so it means I get to see some familiar faces putting out their own housepets content.
Since tomorrow is the anniversary, I'll probably do something to celebrate. Maybe I'll get sugar cookies and decorate them with some of the characters. That'd be cool.
