Now I imagine everyone's going to turn on each other once they get to the mana pool.

Max wants to impress grape and feel good about himself, and Grape likes buff guys, but at first I was confused by Res. Then I remembered he wants to be more confident, and I'm pretty sure being a super tough weretiger has helped that a lot.

I find it very amusing that Res is getting into the buff act. :3
Also ~ Grape is finally thinking of a buff Max. He has now moved up the chain of command.

Grape wants her beefcakes and eat them too.
How come no-one's asked who Res is? They've never met him before.
Once again, dreams are sundered,
as easy as the place is plundered.
Tarot knows just what you’re thinking
so easy. It’s like you’re winking.
All benefit to you and not to others,
sometimes she wonders why she bothers.
It’d be easy to let you have your dreams,
but then nothing is ever as it seems.
There’s a price to pay for the use of mana
that can’t be detected, even by a scanner.
The price to pay for achieving your goal?
Would you be willing to harm your soul?
Powers’ use is powers’ corruption;
a concept that needs no introduction.

Well, at least those 3 are on the same page.
Re: 2017/09/27 - Real Ultimate Power
Who wants to bet those three are going to just rush ahead to use the pool for themselves? Well, okay, maybe not all three, Res and Grape might be able to restrain themselves, but I sincerely doubt Max will be able to.

I been thinking that ~ they probably think he's just some random cat that got caught up in this mess and want to ask no questions in hopes of just hoping this journey they are taking will be forgotten ASAP. They probably will ask him at the end or forget about it altogether. Sucks for them if that's the case =PWelsh Halfwit wrote:How come no-one's asked who Res is?.

I think Sabrina's the only one on team Tarot that's a potential Pridelands fan. I know Fox read the first book, but I haven't seen any evidence he's been following the series.

Re: 2017/09/27 - Real Ultimate Power
I know that, I was just saying that most of Team Tarot wouldn't be that interested anyway.
It would be like if I were to randomly run into the author of The Hunger Games. I wouldn't recognize them, and even if someone told me who it was, my primary thought would be "that's interesting."
I'm not a fan of the series, so I don't really have any emotional investment in them or their work.

Wait... If I'm not mistaken, aren't they using a bit of that mana now? I mean, paper bags and costumes don't really turn you into your character naturally, right?
Life is like a rollercoaster, sure there's ups and downs, but you may find that it can throw you for a loop!

Re: 2017/09/27 - Real Ultimate Power
that's the temple's latent magic of the temple that operates without using the mana. it taps into the celestial realm.
Re: 2017/09/27 - Real Ultimate Power
Agreed. It's connected to Pete via ownership, but it's only giving them the forms and powers via the Celestial realm. The Mana may make the Physical Transformations more permanent though.
Still, we've already seen Zach was able to use his Druidic Powers even outside the temple, to save himself, Jessica and Keene, so it's not too far a stretch to feel that even after the temple, several of their number may actually keep using their powers when they find out they still have them. After all, remember when Great Kitsune mentioned that Tarot and Sabrina still have their powers, but no longer have demi-gods backing them up.
Zach didn't even know the full extend of his powers, since Sabrina just told him how to 'Cast Light'. Had she taught him the other Druidic spells, Zach would likely have a much larger Arsenal that's based on Healing. It's not too far a stretch to think that when the others leave the temple, they'll have a new set of powers to nurture.

You're going to need to use that mana to rebuild the fourth wall.

Also, I think Tarot is being a control freak here. The goal is to keep the mana out of Keene's hands. Siphoning off a bit for buffing purposes doesn't seem counter to that.

Re: 2017/09/27 - Real Ultimate Power
tarot has always been a control freak. It's just more obvious these days because she doesn't have the power reserves to do everything from behind the scenes anymore.
Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

Re: 2017/09/27 - Real Ultimate Power
Eh, unfortunately not, Maxwell. The mana can't be used for personal pleasures, as seems. Eheheh, now I see why he wants mana. And even Res is thinking about that. About Grape, that's pretty obvious, she wishes that, too. Oh! Well, Maxwell, she's magic, and she can do that. What I wonder, instead, is how and where Tarot got that horsewhip... She must always do the part of the schoolmarm.
The second panel is awesome, and all the strip is funny!

True. I mean, Peanut said that 'I thought you were just turning Normal' Once, right here, in THE GALLIFRAX PROTOCOL.Buster wrote:Tarot has always been a control freak. It's just more obvious these days because she doesn't have the power reserves to do everything from behind the scenes anymore.
Later, we find that Tarot has taken Severe offense to that quote and is dragging Peanut by the Ear for it, treating it as a Jab, though we know full well it was nothing of the sort and was more a slip of the tongue like it usually is for Peanut.
The quote at the end, kinda drives in the point of her being controlling. I mean, Peanut's still living with Grape at this point and for what's likely the foreseeable future, we haven't seen Tarot's 'Parents', and we're not entirely sure where she lives, though it's implied to be with Sabrina.

Re: 2017/09/27 - Real Ultimate Power
Tarot being in control is a great way to give more insight to her as well. When you have alot of power in a beneficial area, you generally want less bad things to happen as humanly (or pomerianly) as possible and if done right, you get accustomed to it.
I don't personally like seeing Tarot make errors, but it's actually something that's more beneficial for her i find since she starts to rely on others more. and it also shows us just how smart she is even without the powers.

Tarot, among her other charms, does have a puritanical streak. Grape, on the other hand, has a robust and varied range of cardinality. Jata for raw Eros; Peanut for her deeper, more mutual spiritual agape side, Res for her intellectual and cultural passions, and Maxwell appealing to a mix of adolescent adventure, risky fun, and the closest Grape can come is a a pet in Babylon Gardens to owning another pet herself.
