Well paint me amazed, that phrase was like... 100% of her character

"and was having trouble reconciling the systemic reinforcement of her projected behavior"

Hope that helps.

She's saying she spoke with Sasha a few weeks ago. Sasha was thinking about how dogs are dogs are expected to respect and defer to their owners, especially with regards to her owner, and she was having trouble understanding why she has to respect and defer to her owner given how he treats her.NoSoyFurry wrote:Also any native so kind as to help me decipher what she's saying?

Getting onboard the Daisy train;
you often alight at the same station.
Never before has it come to light
she may not be an abberration.
Breaking the habit of a lifetime
by not just saying three words
she proves that loquaciousness
isn’t just a trick for the birds.
I hope she keeps her vocabulary
Even if it results in testimony.
Coming from the strangest place
it doesn’t point to any harmony.

And is Rick going to bring in Daisy as a major character in this arc? Maybe Daisy will soon see the spotlight and have her own arc about her character! All this and more revealed in the next episode of Housepets: The Dangerous Dame Daisy!
I thought about changing my signature but decided against it, it's too much work!
Re: 2016/09/26 - Give Me Your Answer Do
Oh... Wow. Daisy said something more than 'Hi, I'm Daisy.'... Is it Armageddon already?
In all seriousness though, this tells me that Daisy's a Stepford smiler, speaking coherently only when it's deemed necessary. Either because it's from Puphood trauma, maybe from being too smart for her own good, or something terrible happened to her that made her like this.
The fact that she stopped smiling/grinning just shows it. Still, when did she get this buff!?

Is it weird that I'm less surprised by Daisy speaking, and more by how apparently philosophical Sasha was being?

I had a thought last week on how daisy should have been in the video footage and her reoccurring line was all they'd get out of her. This arc did a 180 on me, but opens a huge door for daisy.

Has Daisy shown up before? Either way the plot thickens I guess. What a interesting tern of development. But why would Sasha choose such a violent and extreme form to vent her feelings? Perhaps there is more to the story.

Sasha has been shown to have decent wisdom (and possibly charisma); she noticed immediately that Bino regifted her a lot of stuff and played it off like she hadn't, also showing that she knows how she's generally perceived.Pecan wrote:Is it weird that I'm less surprised by Daisy speaking, and more by how apparently philosophical Sasha was being?
Up until now, Daisy has been something of an anomaly; her intelligence is obviously rather high, but she kept it hidden behind a simple, three-word phrase all this time. The question is: Why?

Well...I guess that is one way to reinvent a character
Maybe Daisy speaks so much, because she knows no one understands her or she never had anything to say?
Seriously, this arc is getting better and better. I think this one is my new favourite

Well, we knew that Sasha was hiding her intelligence, so it shouldn't be surprising that she'd let it all out with the other dog that's faking it.Pecan wrote:Is it weird that I'm less surprised by Daisy speaking, and more by how apparently philosophical Sasha was being?
I'm wondering now if King's admonishments back then had an effect on her:

I've always been a bit of a wallflower IRL so I know what it's like to be passed over in conversation and to not be able to insert yourself into the groups of conversation. You know how in video games if you get a high enough score it goes back to zero?
I think Daisy got to the point of being so stupid, she just became smart.
That or someone needed to tell her to be serious...

Am I the only one who saw that coming? Not in this particular situation, but that Daisy is actually real smart? That's a classic joke!
And from the words she is using, I would guess her owner is a psychiatrist or she just read a lot of books on this topic.
On a side note: I don't really like the buff look on Daisy.

...*Takes out 10 bucks and tosses it to cousin* Well, there went ten dollars worth of nice things because I made a bet with a cousin of mine on whether Daisy was well, Daisy or just fakin' the whole time..And then in comes A daisy who can outright speak terms most of us barely understand at all.. Note, do not make bets with a person who lurks TVTropes for half a week, it'll come back to bite ya on the bum.

Could also be a case of issues with self worth? She's spent so long having a hard time talking to people and always falling back on the same social crutch over and over, that she's started overcompensating for it both mentally and physically.

Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

So, my next question is... are Fox and Mungo just shocked at Daisy's eloquence, or are they also suffering a comprehension shortfall?

Mata-Nui protect us, Daisy is soooo adorable! I so want to hug her (and Sasha too).
And being glad for her first non "Hi! I'm Daisy" words, Oh-My-Geiger counter, I am soo happy for HER first words.
And about Sasha's owner, I never liked the guy. After seeing Him for the first time, I already knew, Sasha's only purpose for him is to get a woman for himself. And is very bitter at Her because She failed at getting any ladies for his master. That's not what dogs are for. I am so sorry for Sasha. And i hope this arc will head the way that is not too good for Sasha's owner. I hope that demon will be busted and sued by pup-protective services. Or even the Paw Patrol... I mean, K-9 Unit. Or a higher authority entity. Or... The OH-Great-Beings and their glorious, divine majesty! (*chants in a whisper "Unity, Duty, Destiny"*) And may Mata-Nui be Merciful on his evil soul...

Maybe Daisy is not suppose to be cute. Mayyyybe she's secretly Sasha's musclessssssss.
What i love about this comic is it now makes all the previous comics with her make sense. this comic in pecticular. She knew what she was saying :3
I had to look up obeisance, but if what Daisy says is true, sounds like Sasha and her owner are looking for a proper dog ~ someone like Fido. However, it also sounds like her owner is being too strict about it and she's beginning to doubt if her image is the problem.
I had an old theory about this and dumped it thinking it was too sleezy for her owner ~ but i'm growing suspicious of that behavior again. Her owner mightbe trying to pull a 101 Dalmations routine on someone ~ as in, find someone with a rich and well trained dog, meet the owner and try to marry into them.

Daisy was feigning stupidity this whole time.... question is why the act? Sasha at least has a reason with her abusive family but Daisy? i suddenly want to know more about her story and why she hides this information about herself.
Yeah i have to agree with the people here saying she looks overly buff... I feel like all the housepets are suddenly on steroids. The extra detail paid to the character features is a nice touch though and it makes seance on some of them like the wolves and police dogs.
As far as this pertains to Sasha, and referring back to this strip as shown before.
I am almost curious if Sasha is so brainwashed that she sees Keene's progress in animal rights as a threat to her perception of reality. She was always the one who would insist "Nope, silly king this is a dogs place it doesn't matter how bad we get abused because its just the way its supposed to be". the question is, is she diluted enough to attempt murder to ensure it stays that way.
Then again its housepets so i am probably thinking too dark XD

Words can not describe the amount of explosions that just took place inside my mind.
Re: 2016/09/26 - Give Me Your Answer Do
Honestly, for me, the answer is simple. Fox tells Daisy 'this is serious,' so she gets serious. The smile that comes with "Hi, I'm Daisy!" is so clearly forced it almost hurts. It seems more like an elaborate prank, a joke gone too far, or simply... that she believes no one us going to take her seriously.
I expect that she was in a situation where she used her vernacular early on, and discovered she was better received in (dog) society as a ditz than a genius. Or it could be she and Sasha made a pact to hide their true minds, perhaps even as a result of interactions with their owners. Without knowing more, it's hard to say, but what if Daisy's owner forbade her to talk, and Sasha found out?
