"Oh, they did?" Ramona asked, looking in the direction that Amber was looking. When she saw the other dog and the android, she immediately jumped from her seat and ran over while saying, "Oh, hi! I'm Ramona! What's your name? Also, which one of you is the doctor? I'm just kind of curious."

"Oh, no trouble," Francis said to the Golden Retriever who'd bumped him. He looked around, still trying to see a Maitre d'. "I was just... waiting to be seated for a coffee but they seem busy."

"The Doyle Theatre Group was fortunate enough to secure an exclusive contract to the ship's theatres." Kelly answers after giving the Elen-unit driver their destination and buckling herself in as the hovercar pulls away from the curb. "There are two theatres aboard the ship and one is available at all times for rehearsals or private hire. We have three troupes of actors and musicians aboard the ship at all times - one to put on whichever show is currently running, the second to provide understudies for that show, to rehearse for the next show and available for hire for private entertainment, and the third and final also for hire for private entertainment but also on break to recuperate from their previous show and to replace the previous company for the next show. Each company spends one month rehearsing a show, one one month performing the show, and one month on break for a total rotation time of three months. This allows for a new show running every month without our performers becoming overworked."

"That is quite all right. Enjoy your, ahem, bath." Kelly sends back to Miguel.

====================
"Wow! That sounds like a feast! Bring it on!" Makani grins enthusiastically, rubbing his paws together in anticipation.
"Well, biotech is some of what they do, Flash. See, my parents own Monren Tech Inc. The company designs and develops all kinds of sustainable and renewable technologies aimed at minimising the human impact on the environment and maximising energy efficiency to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. A lot of their technology was incorporated into this ship. So we're kinda here for publicity, I guess." Makani pulls his glucometer and what looks like a chunky pen from his pouch.
"Erm, if you don't like blood or needles you might want to look away for a moment. Just gotta check my blood sugar." he warns, setting the glucometer on the table and swabbing the side of a finger pad with an alcohol wipe.

The model finally started to show up as the nanobots began mapping out his internal systems. First thing to come up was a model of all the rods and reinforcements, a little more sturdily built than usual, that made up his skeletal system. The joints were just as Enrique had described, custom milled joints with magnetically attached socket configurations allowing for basic shaping of the parts to fit the majority of current models on the market. Next that showed up was the general synthetic muscle-like connections that allowed the various parts of his body to move. Electrical systems were modeled next, a plethora of flat insulated carbon wire running along his metal skeletal system, a main processor, a few secondary processors and your general radio, wireless, and near connection setup, all cooled by a closed nanotube loop of coolant. Lastly, his synthetic skin and fur compound, covering everything except for a rather large hole on his side.

"Bath is a bit of an understatement. It's more like living water." He replied back to Kelly

James ears swiveled to the sound of talking. He noticed people standing at the entrance and he placed his tray aside, skating through the tables while humming. He skid to a stop in front of the two patrons, bowing.

"I am sorry if here was any wait. Please, come with me."

James skated slowly to two separate tables adjacent from one another. He clutched two menus in his arm and patiently waited for them. Marky rushed over, looking at James with stars in his eyes. He lifted up his arms and moved his finger joints, completely enthralled.

"Wowza! A real robot! Solaris would love you! Wai, wait, wait! Hold on!"

Mark pulled his tablet out and started up Skype. It took a few seconds, but a raccoon appeared on screen soon.

"What's up, Marky Sparky?"

"Nutmeg! Nutmeg, look!"

Marky turned the tablet towards James, who waved.

"Is that one of them ani-droids?"

"Yeah! Yeah! Go get Solaris!"

While this went on, James turned to the cat and handed him a menu.

"Thank you," Francis said, accepting the menu. "I can imagine any slight delays were caused by first day glitches? They're quite forgivable." He noted the excitement of his fellow traveller at the appearance of the Anidroid and smiled. "I think you have a fan," he said, taking his offered seat. "Several, in fact," he added as the others appeared. "I shall have to ask you to answer later how it is you come to travel alone, sir," he said, looking to get the Canine's attention.

Ramona shook Avery's hand vigorously, possibly shaking her a bit, before taking out Reginald's notepad and saying, "Well, Reggie said that he wanted us to meet you, so I guess just meeting is something we would like."

Back when I was a pup i learned to make a mean gumbo out of scraps from dumpsters and spices I pinched outa necessity. I learned in one of the cultural centers of America, and probably the cultural center of the southern states. So bah, I never will give too much merit to food that's been prepared by robots or made to an exact recipie. You need flavor in your food cher, and that's while I'll spice it all up eh?"
"A culinary challenge, eh? My Nessie lives up to that: In fact, given her job, she had many occasion to taste so many recipes from all around the world. She'll love your talents. Me? I think that you could even end up competing in a show, if you're as good as you say: We have our own television studios aboard, you could apply for our cooking show, since Apollo City is supposed to promote the New Food and the selfgrown food worldwide."

I'm probably going to have to rewire an existing one to fit his connections. You wouldn't happen to have an extra one laying about the shop would you?" He chuckled at the thought of what used to be expensive equipment just laying around waiting to be used.
*...Connection Established...* "As I was saying, we figured that heuristics would provide for more freedom of decision than letting algorithms or preprogrammed responses would. It's how biological creatures learn. At first at least, they tend to move towards scripted actions as they age. Volken nodded at his colleague. "Believe me, if you asked to we could rebuild Miguel ears to toes. We'll give you all the replacements you need...Ah, done! All information is gathered. Miguel, now I'll tell the nanobots to abandon your body. Just be patients for a couple of minutes as they trickle away.", then, to Enrique, "We recycle them, their tiny tiny corpses will serve to rebuild a new batch." He pointed at the screens that showed random pictures of the droid to a level not even the best electron microscope could hope go achieve. "Like gathering pictures of the distant stars a frame at a time. It will take a bit to assemble everything so to have a complete scanalysis, but I guess you can have an idea of what you need to know, eh?"

"YAY!" And with that, Frits grabbed the droid's wrist and pulled him outside. "It's an awesome toy! You toss it, and the other must catch it. But with mouth, not hands like humans do. Oh, and it's not easy to catch!"
Inside the room, Guinevere looked at Tom. "You won't see your droid for a long time, mister." She chuckled. "But anyway, how do you propose to cover an emergency broadcast? Say, we have a Middle East serious crisis at hands, how do we pull an Arnett whille staying here?

Miguel sat still as the "water" slid free of his body. An odd sensation, but an interesting one at that.
Another message popped up on the screen,
"Are these nanobots remote controlled?" - Miguel

He shot another message across the channels towards Kelly, "I find it interesting that we're the only ones on this channel. What with how connected everything is these days."

Enrique nodded at what Volken said, considering the idea of a rebuild. "I've had a few ideas for new designs. They include my own joint designs although a bit more refined, allowing for modularity. If you need a specific set of tools to do a job then you can just attach them. Of course it'd need a prototype before I could even hope of submitting such a design. With such a model the possibilities are nearly endless. I don't think he would mind being my testbed. After all, he's a conglomeration of 0.x parts. Not even technically a full release build."

Marky handed James the tablet, which had excited talking coming from it, and the ani-droid skated off with the cats order. Marky sat down and flipped open his menu.

"Oh! Um, how did I travel by myself? I don't really know, I just opened the mail and there was a ticket. I think one of my sisters signed me up as a prank. Joke's on them, cause I'm on this big fancy ship now and they're not!"

James returned with Francis order and set it down carefully before handing the tablet back to Marky with a laugh.

"Your sibling fainted when he saw me."

Marky chuckled and rolled his eyes before placing his own order for an ice tea and a plate of spaghetti, extra parmesan. After James skated away, he turned back to Francis.

"What about you? How'd you get here?"

"They must love you greatly," Francis said pleasantly, "to give you such a gift and not claim the credit. Ah, thank you," he continued, accepting the order. "Such affection is rare, trust me. I'm here with my human father but I don't think he plans to come out of the cabin for a while." He made to move tables over to the canines and only thought it might be an intrusion part way through. "Of course, it's fine!"

Marky scoots closer to his table.

"Yeah, it was probably Luna. She's a mouse with a brain bigger than herself."

Marky hears the talk of Francis' father and tips his head curiously, as dogs do.

"Oh? Well if your dad won't do it, maybe you could spend time with me until he can spend time with you!"

Marky smiled, his tail wagging slightly behind his chair.

"A multi-species family," Francis beamed, sitting down. "How wonderful!". He offered a handpaw across the table. "I'm Francis," he said, wondering if he should use his surname. He decided not to. "And I'd be delighted. I take it you've studied what this ship has more than I have?"

"In fact we do, Flash-sama. It's not requested for very often, but our restaurants do offer aroma nebulizers. I will add those to your order." A quick second, and Hajime blinked. "The order has been sent, the food will arrive shortly. Please excuse me."

He bowed, and walked calmly towards the kitchen area, making a mental note on Flash's health conditions as well. He was also notified that the beautiful couple had just placed their orders as well, and by the time he arrived, Flash and Makani's foods and drinks were ready to go. He placed them on a very large tray, almost two metres in diameter, and picked the tray up with no effort at all. He lifted the tray with one upturned hand, and made his way back towards the felines, his footing sure and steady.

"Your order's ready, goshuujin-samatachi," the waiter announced, and began setting up the table with all the cuisine with flair and poise. That done, he held the now empty tray in his left hand and bowed. "I will need to attend to my other guests, but if you need me, I'll be close by. Bon apetit~"

He then repeated the same process with Roux's and Sandine's orders, which were completed as well. He smiled at the two as he set up their table with their foods and drinks. "My apologies for the delay, goshuujin-samatachi. I hope you will enjoy your meal. As a note, I am also programmed with a comprehensive repertoire of songs spanning all genres of music to entertain our guests while they have their meal. May I offer to serenade you with a soothing number to set the mood?"

He smiled and leaned into her with his fluffy and soft fur. "I'd be happy to see what I could do Chere, and I'm sure she'll love my food. But what I cook is passion, and thats something only a real cook can learn, you see? First, anyway, I wana give that casino a southern touch eh?"
Can't wait for it. Now restrain yourself, though: A proper gentlefur is supposed to behave. My peers still tend to be so condiscendent with 'happy doggies', as if looking all tough and repressed is a sign of civilization...at least you leaved in a place where extravagance was more accepted."
kurowolfe wrote:He then repeated the same process with Roux's and Sandine's orders, which were completed as well.
Sandine nodded to the dog. "I'll leave the choice to you, my rogue. Surprise me."

"This channel serves to avoid any possible interference. And this answer to your question about remote control. But don't worry, we also have a 'kill switch' to stop everything and a purge protocol to expel them manually from one's body."
Then Volken answered to Enrique. "We don't have any old models aboard, unfortunately, but we do have a landing strip, so you can order one anytime. And we can also 3D-print what small components you need...But if you need some help into designing, we do have a brand new prototype you might really appreciate, sir."

"Chere, I'm from n'ahlands, we ain't never gonna be restrained. Why should ah be now? Why should I try to make sure they take me seriously, I can just take them as fools and marks prequa?" he smiled and turned to the automaton. "I want something from king Oliver and his Creole band, if you have it. if not, how about a song about love monamine?."

"What do you mean by living water? And we're not the only ones on this channel - the ship is equipped with anti-interference systems like in airports so that conversations do not intersect or distort each others' signals. Should you send an "open" signal then others would be able to hear and join our conversation." Kelly explains to Miguel via her radio.

Aloud she addresses her charges.
"As I am equipped with multilingual support I can interpret the operas however I agree, they are too showy and rather louder and more drawn out than they need be. The Doyle Theatre Group does not do operas in the traditional sense however we do do modernised versions of some comedy operas and operettas such as the works of Gilbert and Sullivan whom you may know from productions such as "The Pirates of Penzance", "The Mikado" and "Trial By Jury". Generally though, we tend to show classic plays such as Shakespeare or more modern musicals and plays. We do on occasion show a production written by our owner, Johannes Doyle, himself. So, what was your line of work, may I ask?"

"That is the biggest tray of food I've ever seen!" Makani exclaims with eyes widening and mouth watering as the otter-droid serves the delicious-smelling food.
"Smells wonderful! Thanks, Hajime!" he grins, tucking in, trying each of the pastries on offer.
"So what sort of biotech did you say your owners do, Flash? And, forgive my asking, but how on earth does a leopard become a pet?"

Hajime paused for a bit. Those... were some odd choices for a song accompaniment, and while he knew all of King Oliver's songs, he was not sure that he could convey the 1920s atmosphere the great music band has faithfully with only one performer.

But if there's one thing about the otter ani-droid, it's that he loves a challenge towards his capabilities as a musician. Hence, he closed his eyes and smiled in acknowledgement. "Very well. Give me a moment to prepare." He took out a pair of metal plates from inside his shirt, and positioned them so that one plate was on the floor and the other about 2 feet above it, held by his hand. He pressed a button on the top plate, and suddenly the space between the plates glowed blue and the top plate hovered in place. He sent a signal towards his personal holographic transporter and something began taking shape in that blue light cylinder. Soon, a beautiful brass cornet had been transported inside, and he pulled it out from the device. He also transported a small wireless speaker there before switching the transporter off.

Placing the speaker on his left chest, he gingerly positioned the cornet near his lips and started playing West End Blues, the speaker soon playing the piano and second cornet backing tracks. Hajime soon put his heart to his playing and delivered what he promised: a smooth and soulful if not unorthodox serenade for the couple, and for those nearby.

Francis sat back as he drank from his coffee and heard the distant music. "It sounds like someone's made a challenge to an anidroid," he said. "I wonder if they won or lost?"

"Well, hmm... Here, just watch this, it's my personal live feed." A query containing the link to feed found its way to Kelly, waiting to be accepted or declined, "You can listen to it too if you wish. Sounds like tinfoil." He proceeded to "play" with the nanobots, holding a pool in his paws and watching as they actively escaped up and over the edge, forming unnatural looking waves as they did so, "They were doing an internals scan, so I've got millions of these little things inside of me trying to find their way out right now."

He addressed Volken by voice now that his face was uncovered, "Do you think they could be programmed on the fly to do things? Er, I guess instructed is a better word for it. Like if I wanted to release a new batch and keep them holed up inside me for later use, is that possible?"

"I was talking about the laboratory channels," said Volken's voice. Since we're talking about billions worth of research, all conversations are strictly monitored. Yours wouldn't even take place should the top brass decided so. Oh, and anyway we are talking about nanites. It's no secret we are working on that kind of technology."

"That is quite interesting. I love a popular 'operetta', "La Gatta Cenerentola", which is said to have spawned the fable of Cinderella.
"As for my line of work, I am a rescue pet, part of a project with genetically modified animals able to better perform in critical environments. I cen hear better, smell better, see better and my organs have a wider tolerance to certain common chemicals. It does not make me invulnerable or indestructible, let's just say that I am my own survival apparatus. Oh, and I have an added feature...but I'll show you that when we're on the stage," she added with an enigmatic smile.

"My human work with TIR: Technorganic Integrated Replacement. His firm wants to use a combination of micro- and nanotechnology to create fully functional organs. This mixed technology wasn't going anywhere because alone micro and nano are not efficient enough due to the scale of job they are required to work on.
"But thanks to the Lunar Society, they founded the premises to integrate both without having to fight a commercial war. Now it is only a question of time before the first tech-organs are experimented with." He sounded really excited at the idea. "Oh, and as for me being a pet...well, the zoo where I was living was just getting rid of me because of my chronic poor health since I was a kitten. Since I was born there, I was just property and they didn't object when Dad and Mom bought me for a hefty price. And they treated me with all the love in the world, they have joined the Lunars just to save me."

Sandine looked quite admired. Being able to reproduce a piece like that? She expected no less from an anidroid...but the choice... She almost forgot her manners and hummed while eating her meal, feeling as if she had been transported to some smoky jazz club of the roarng twenties.
At the end of the play, she applauded Hajime. "This was simply wonderful, it was just the perfect atmosphere." She pointed her fork at the dog. "Roux, confess: You and this much excellent anidroid had planned this. Shame."

Volken nodded. "Yes, this is possible, but it's totally against any safety protocol. And because people aboard and the media wouldn't be happy with the idea of unchecked invisible robots walking around the ship. Frankenstein's syndrome, you know. So, how did it feel? Your impressions are important t our job."

"It feels a little heavier than water, but it doesn't feel like water. Maybe, syrup without the slowing of movement. It's an interesting feeling, I could feel them inside of me." He stood up and climbed his way out of the tub, "Also, Doctor, we weren't speaking on a laboratory channel, just the ships own communications channels. But I understand why you're concerned. Is there anything else we can do while we're still here."
"I might stay here for a while, build some things, check out the new prototype that apparently made its home here. If we're done, you can go explore the rest of the ship."

"You are correct, sir, and I apologise for not having mentioned security to Miguel earlier. However, as I am a privately owned droid and not employed by the ship I am not permitted to discuss ship security features nor am I privy to most of the same. I shall note this breach in my logs and ensure it does not happen again." the ferret-droid replies to the human via radio.

"I am not familiar with La Gatta Cenerentola however I am sure it is a fine operetta." Kelly replies, pronouncing the foreign name perfectly thanks to her programming for languages. "I shall look forward to seeing your talents on the stage. It appears you are quite unique. Are you aboard the ship as a tourist or permanent resident?"

Makani decides he's not a fan of the layer cakes but that doesn't really matter as there's so much other food on offer. He thoroughly enjoys the noodles with ginger and chilli sauce and can't get enough of the seafood.
"Sure you don't want any of this, Flash? It's really good!" he exclaims, swallowing a mouthful. "Wow. Sounds like you've been a very lucky kitty then! So... Are they going to be able to fix all your health issues then? That's really cool!"

It would help me get a good grasp of what it exactly he wanted me to discuss with each of you. And after that I'd be happy to talk wit Boxer.

"Alrighty then! Seeya later!"ramona said before closing her eyes and letting who she thought was Reginald take control.

When Bullet opened his eyes, seeing that his plan managed to work, he couldn't help but smile. He just needed to be calm for a little bit and the others could mistake for Mr. Emotionless. Great thing to know. Seeing the female dog in front of him, his smile grew wider and he said, "Well, hello beautiful. What's your name?"

Jemmy was not subject to humor changes, usually. His talents as recorder and observer required him to stay above the emotional currents. But when the patient had started to talk, a furrow of puzzlements came over the genet droid's eyes.
Nevertheless, he was also programmed to respect rank, and the pet therapist was his superior and was working. Jemmy, for now, just listened, watched. And waited.
And sent a discreet signal to his fighting companion.

Back in the laboratory, behind the humans talking, Asur's eyes flashed for a moment. Then he smiled. "With your permission, doctor Volken, I will take a leave and see how my counterpart is doing."
Volken turned and regarded the sly saurian with wary eyes. "Granted, but you know I'll be keeping a watch on your logs. And so will security. No funny things.
Asur just shrugged. "No hay problema. And in case, I will convince the jury it was self-defence. Ok, maluco?" and walked away, not before sticking out his long tongue at the human.
Volken felt like facewalling. "I'd ask Miguel if he'd like his brain to replace Asur's, but I fear even that would get contaminated..."

Back shortly." After visiting the requisite room, he looked around the restaurant to see if there was anyone of intrigue there. Perhaps the Cajun Canine with the old lady being serenaded by an Anidroid?
An unlikely quarted entered the restaurant: A tall, robust female Tibetan Mastiff, who was waring a python as if it were a dress accessory, and a female Akita Inu, white as snow, with a big parrot perching on her shoulder. The dogs just wore a comfortable utility belt and nothing else. Males started staring speechless at their collarless necks.
"I hope the meat is as good as they say," Macajuel said. "I'm so hungry, I could hypnotize someone into my jaws right now."
"I just hope this is as classy as promised. I want to get some strength back before going back to the love of my life."
"A raptor?" the snake said. "You and a raptor? I still think you're pulling my tail."
Piper shrugged. "That you can think, there's a wonder. And watch your tongue, or *you* will become her meal when I introduce her."
"At least you had the good sense to choose security," Tsuki said.
"Thank you, dear: I *live* for your approval..." the parrot looked behind him and over her shoulder. "BTW, where's your sword? Hidden under the fur?"
"I don't need it every time, you know." She grinned in answer.
"Sorry I asked."

"I hope not," said the snake, lifting its head. "A snake's charm is still unbeaten."
"Or perhaps he was talking to me," Colombina said, wagging her bushy tail. Then she waved at the cat to come over.
"That's mostly unprofessional, you know," Tsuki said to her colleague.
"Shush, we are not monk-warriors. I want to socialize, and I bet Mac wants too, is that right hon?" she asked with a full-teeth grin that a shark would've envied!
Mac, wisely, didn't object to that...

"Ah, well," Francis said to Columbina, whilst offering the hand to Piper - just to make sure they weren't under hypnosis or something, "I am afraid I had just finished with lunch. But I was making plans with my new friend Marky over there," he added, indicating the table. "I doubt he would mind if more joined us?"
