It's been mentioend before that Grape must be, at least in part, Russian Blue, which is definitely "east"Saturn381 wrote:I wonder who the queen is?

They're definitely talking about Grape. queen is a term for a female cat, plus the whole "sneeze when someone's talking about you" thing.

It indeed means that read here or just this part [...]Tyrian purple became the color of kings, nobles, priests and magistrates all around the Mediterranean.[...]TheBlasterizer wrote:Purple = royalty I suppose
So Grape do have the color of royality, but I'm more surprised by the fact they could tell she is a girl; plus if the cats make her their queen, that can left some history record for the future

Im going to make a bet saying that one member of the group -not inlcuding Satau- will want to stay in the past
Re: 2015/09/21 - Desert Jewel
So, Grape, how does it feel to naturally be the color of royalty?
This should be a more interesting ride, and it was pretty interesting to begin with.

Cute cats,
building the temple high.
Cute cats,
going to catch his eye.
Cute cats,
that Satau claims as brothers.
Cute cats;
someone tell their mothers.
Cute cats,
giving Grape the sneezes.
Cute cats;
not thinking of diseases.
Cute cats;
the pride of all their lands.
Cute cats

I honestly thought this would be the one that'd send them back and end the arc, I am pleasantly surprised to see it not so! I think it'd be funny if one of the ancient cats goes with them to the future because they want to serve the purple royal or something along that lines. In the end, here's to hoping another interesting character turns up.

The more this arc continues, the more I think that King is missing out.
So they assume Grape is a Queen...wonder who's King (if there is one)?

Yes, but... given the time frame, technology is nowhere near advanced enough to have that much knowledge of the world - Russia, Burma, and Pomerania are all way out of the way for people living on the Nile to know even exist. I'm in agreement with what was mentioned earlier - the east they're talking about is almost certainly Tyre (or Sidon, or Phoenicia in general, for that matter), which is in Lebanon, on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean and a place someone in Egypt would be much more likely to recognize.Frank wrote:It's been mentioend before that Grape must be, at least in part, Russian Blue, which is definitely "east"Saturn381 wrote:I wonder who the queen is?

Well I'm now guessing there will be a buff tomcat wooing for Grape and Max will have his hands full with a new rival or Grape does her best to fend said rival off
Edit: Also I love that cat's work ethic

Well this is certainly an interesting time frame, we have human structures (the town) and possibly domesticated cats existing at the same time as sabercats. It is always fun when modern day characters from privileged life styles go back in time to see a land with the technology (electronic technology). Also Peanut will be hailed as a god if they see his DS.

Someone else has already mentioned the purple thing, so I won't post my own great long saga about it.
Also, should we expect shenanigans when all Dragon's worshipers can see them but Dragon can't?

you might actually be surprised, archaeological finds and some records show signs of trade from the americas, through the Eurasia super continent and down into africa as far back as the iron age. there are also some written records (mostly from now arab countries) explaining the expanses of the trade networksCosmicCoyote wrote:Yes, but... given the time frame, technology is nowhere near advanced enough to have that much knowledge of the world - Russia, Burma, and Pomerania are all way out of the way for people living on the Nile to know even exist. Now Grape is going to die from some ancient disease and someone is "the queen." This will be intriguing.

Also - Res and Keys ancestors, perhaps. I'll laugh if suddenly most of the cats and dogs here have a connection to their future relatives.

Re: 2015/09/21 - Desert Jewel
I keep wondering if they'll try using mana from Pete's temple instead. If they do, they could end up either freeing Pete by accident, causing him to gain five Avatars all at once and win the game, causing that laugh outside the heavenly courtroom. The rules state "no weird time junk" but their current non-player status voids that out. (See the arc where King first finds out about the game) Plus, Pete's long sentence apparently could have been either sideways in time as people have told me, or forward in time, as I believe. If it was sideways, perhaps it could have gone along the parallel universe that would be created by the five interlopers?Argent wrote:Someone else has already mentioned the purple thing, so I won't post my own great long saga about it.

Or they could use some mana from Pete's mana pool without freeing him, perhaps starting the "opener of ways" prophecy in the process. That make sense, considering the mana pool seemed to be empty (aside from some glowing residue) when Zack pushed the button. That would be sortof boring though, and I haven't seen a boring arc from Mr. Griffin yet.

Re: 2015/09/21 - Desert Jewel
Oh, the royal-coloured Grape is going to be a queen, of Merimde, I suppose. That hasn't to happen... Eheh, good excuse as ethic... Your sneeze is because of another kind of sense, Grape, but you have a point for considering ancient diseases. Take care of it for the next possible time travel, Tarot.

Re: 2015/09/21 - Desert Jewel
Ah, but two key words in there: Iron Age. If we're truly in 5000 BCE, then we're still a couple millennia from the end of the Neolithic (~3500-3000 BCE), let alone all the way to the start of the Iron Age (~1500-1200 BCE). Just to put how far back they are in perspective, they're currently closer to the beginnings of the Agricultural Revolution (12th to 10th millennia BCE) than they are to the present day. The "historical record" as we know it is still 18 to 20 centuries away, when the Egyptians begin developing hieroglyphics and putting the names of pharaohs on everything. Indeed, there are still a lot of places at this point in history that are still domesticating foodstuffs - outside of the Fertile Crescent, the Indus Valley and the Chinese river basins of the Yellow and Yangtze, people are still adjusting to an agrarian lifestyle - if they're at that point at all.ascdren wrote:you might actually be surprised, archaeological finds and some records show signs of trade from the americas, through the Eurasia super continent and down into africa as far back as the iron age. there are also some written records (mostly from now arab countries) explaining the expanses of the trade networks

I wonder if Grape got the name Princess Periwinkle cause her old family spoiled her like a princess?

Must point out that one of those ancient cats suddenly recognized Grape's gender, congratulations! We know that a certain dog didn't despite is living with her. But, also Maxwell did his figure...

Forget what I said about Grape being very blustery if she is crowned queen. Looks like she wants to introduce Ptah to a broom.
