Re: Doctor Who
I don't necessarily hope she dies, but I do hope she leaves to make room for a new companion.
Osgood is apparently coming back this series despite dying.
my hope is that somehow, it's actually the Zygon who took her form in the 50th anniversary special, and she can become the first non-human companion in new Who

Re: Doctor Who
Just stumbled across this Doctor Who thread, and thought I would throw my own two cents in here.
My history with Doctor Who is that my dad started watching Doctor Who a little over a year ago, because it was recommended to him. So he then bought the entire show up until the 7th season/series of the reboot. Me, my dad, my mom and my brothers watched Doctor Who together, watched more online, then started watching episodes as they come out. We all can't wait for the next season/series to start. I LOVE the show now, and I can say now is *EXTERMINATE!*

Re: Doctor Who
I hope the next Dalek episode is really good, the last one alright in my opinion.
Note: this is not my collection, this is a meme.
So what was your (all of you) favourite Weeping Angel and Dalek episode?
My favourite angel episode was Angles take Manhatten due to its amazing ending. This is where I should put any spoilers.

Re: Doctor Who
I don;t have a favorite Dalek episode, but my favorite Angel episode will always be Blink. even if he's not there much, it still has my favorite doctor, and it's moffat where he shines: a limited run story (one or two episodes) with a creepy feel and time travel stuff.

Re: Doctor Who
All right then lets get this thread back up and running again.
To start with here are a few questions we may consider:
What was your favourite series and why?
Who was your favourite companion and why?
Do you know any good doctor who related webcomic?
Do you have a favourite minisode?

Re: Doctor Who
I haven't seen many of the old series but of the recent ones my favourite doctor is David Tennant. He just brought an energy and intenseness to the role. I kinda lost interest in the show after he left. I must catch up again though.
I love this portrayal of the Doctor by Rowan Atkinson too! It's hilarious!
My favourite villains were the Weeping Angels since they were terrifying.
I'll bet you've never heard the Doctor Who theme played on a didgeridoo before!
And this is my favourite Doctor Who related meme:
And how could I forget this awesome art?

Re: Doctor Who
Hurray season 9 has kicked off with great start. If you haven't seen it yet then go and watch it. You can watch it on the iview website for free: http://iview.abc.net.au/ or if that doesn't work then you can watch it on the iview app for free. Hurry it expires on the 4th of October at 5:30am Australian time.
And now to discuss it through the blanked out lines below.
If you are reading this and you have't watched the episode yet then.......WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?!
I really loved this episode, the twist at the start was amazing and I loved to see Capaldi playing a guitar on a tank in an arena with a burly warrior wielding an axe. It's great to have Missy back and I loved her psychotic manner.
Did anyone else also see the special weapons dalek cameo? I wish it had more screen time. It was epic in the episode "remembrance of the daleks" with Sylvester McCoy.

Re: Doctor Who
is capaldi gone yet? i don't like his version of the doctor.
I'd rather watch reruns of Christopher Eckelston's episodes.
Atleast tennant and smith were okay...

Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

I like Capaldi, about equal with smith. not my favorite but I don't particularly dislike them. and I definitely saw Tennant as more than okay.
but no, Capaldi's still here and probably will be for at least a few more series.

Matt Smith was the last regeneration because of the war doctor (John Hurt). The time lords gave him 12 more.snappyfox wrote:ive heard that this is the doctors last regen and other story's that the time lords gave him another set of 12

Re: Doctor Who
Didn't River also give up all of hers to save his life? wouldn't that mean he has an extra 8 kicking around somewhere, since she only used 3, and he would technically only need one to be revived?

Re: Doctor Who
River wasn't exactly a full Time Lord, so she may not have had as many regenerations to begin with.
plus we don't know that transferring your regenerations works as a one to one trade, there may be some of that energy lost in the transfer, especially if you weren't raised by time lords who could teach you how to do it right.

its stated in doctor who river burned up her remaining saving the doctor so he did not get her regenerations

Yeah but that energy has to go SOMWHERE, and it shouldn't have taken more that 1-2 to revive him.

Re: Doctor Who
but as I stated, we don't know that River had a full 12 regens, or that she knew how to heal him well enough to not release a bunch of regeneration energy into the atmosphere.

SnappyFox that is a fantastic fan music video with very fitting animation. Great find.
Ok everybody Under the Lake has aired and left us with a great cliffhanger. I personally think that season 9 will be a very good season.
So what did you lot think about it?

Re: Doctor Who
Ok then the new episode has aired and it is time to discuss it. Please don't leave me hanging here, although I will be a way for a few days so I will be the one leaving you hanging!
Once again the episode impressed me and I found it a very enjoyable ending to a story arc.
I loved the electric guitar opening theme and the discussion of paradoxes.
Capaldi has made good use of his sonic sunglasses and I am interested in where the series go.

I liked it but they did something like this with tennant where he didn't need to think up anything because he new what needed to be done because he watched his future self do it

are you talking about Blink or Time Crash?snappyfox wrote:I liked it but they did something like this with tennant where he didn't need to think up anything because he new what needed to be done because he watched his future self do it
they also did it with Smith in the Space and Time shorts. 2 out of these three instances were non-canon shorts, and Blink wasn't quite the same since it was someone else seeing him and letting him know what he needed to do

it was the short with tennant and the other doctor I cant remember what number or the actor name

that was Time Crash. Tennant and Davison, 10 and 5. pretty sure it wasn't fully canon

I think it was because it ends with the titanic and starts with Martha leaving

Re: Doctor Who
except the episode where Martha leaves ends with the Titanic, so there was no time for Time Crash to happen.
I do love that one though, because the end is just David Tennant fanboying about his favorite doctor. Which I like to think he does on a regular basis, being his son-in-law and all.

Does it matter? As they both said in that special, "wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey".RandomGeekNamedBrent wrote:except the episode where Martha leaves ends with the Titanic, so there was no time for Time Crash to happen.

Though generally, I don't think the Children in Need short specials are regarded as canon.

but most of the important stuff happens in the minisodes because they are events before a specific season or episode

minisodes are different, they are canon. they were made with the intention to set up the next season/special.
but Time Crash and Time and Space were made for a charity show.

I recently started watching Dr. Who. Blew through the Ninth Doctor and the Tenth doctor first season in less than a week. So far, I've only watched the first episode of the second season of the Tenth doctor. Been really busy with college to keep watching for now. Anyway, I can't wait to be free and watch the next season.
Almost forgot, favorite episodes so far:
The Empty Child
Bad Wolf
The Impossible Planet/Satan Pit
Army of Ghosts/Doomsday
