My favorite Christmas tv stuff is ABCs 25 days of Christmas marathon. Alas I don't have cable this year.

I stopped watching television years ago and only watch stuff on my computer so I can't answer what my favorite Christmas shows are.

If I lost cable I would not mind. I don't intend to get it when I move out.

I watch a few shows regularly on TV. But they're popular enough I'm sure I could get them online if wanted.
When I do move into my own place, I don't know if I'll get TV. It'll just depend how much money I have I guess.

Not having cable is really kind of nice.
Box sets of DVD's and a computer makes up for the handful of shows I watch. Plus, Christmas dosn't seem like it's being nearly AS exploited.

I tend to watch one show at a time and maybe a few others which I might catch on cable.
Right now, its Ben 10: Omniverse (the art style makes me wanna cry), Hell's Kitchen, Masterchef Junior and Bad Judge (which got cancelled)

So I was driving past the local milk factory on the way into town to pick up Chinese take-out last night and I saw that the factory has put up their Christmas display. It's Santa in his sleigh being pulled by a couple of Holstein Fresian cows! *giggles*
For those of you who don't know, Holstein Fresians are the big black and white splotchy cows that produce the highest volumes of milk.

Yep. I thought so.
There's also a house along the way that some years turns its chimney into a giant candle and some years has a pair of boots sticking out of it.
What kinds of things do you guys to to decorate the house?
We have a Christmas tree and we put up tinsel around the windows and dangley things from our lampshades. We don't do much for exterior lighting since our nearest neighbour is a kilometre (About 2/3 of a mile) away and we're about 2.5k (about 1.5 miles) from the nearest highway so there's no one around to see us.

Through the years I reduced a lot the time passed on TV, I watch only very few things now. It became a real garbage, it's no more good neither for movies... Cableless transmission here (antenna).Amazee Dayzee wrote:I stopped watching television years ago and only watch stuff on my computer so I can't answer what my favorite Christmas shows are.
So to say, I celebrate Christmas. I go with the classic and old nativity scene, always ready to use because put inside a furniture, then is enough uncover it, plug the lights, and put the characters and some sheep. Years ago I had a pretty small synthetic tree, then it became worn and was thrashed. I still have its lights.Hlaoroo wrote:What kinds of things do you guys to to decorate the house?

I stopped watching television right along the time that Cartoon Network went downhill.
Re: Chat Thread 41: Mod Maker
Same here, too. I pretty much gave up on TV ever since high-speed Internet came to this part of the world, apart from the occasional documentary.Cesco wrote:Through the years I reduced a lot the time passed on TV, I watch only very few things now. Gotta say, when i stopped paying 70$ a month for satellite TV, and started to use Hulu and Netflix, it became easier both on my viewing experience and wallet. Would rather pay for unlimted streaming on any device vs maybe catching a show a certain time.

We used to decorate our house with a big inflatable reindeer. We sadly moved so we got a smaller one.
I almost exclusively watch TV online through Netflix and Hulu now. And I'm going to get amazon prime as well, to get some movies and music to.

Here's an interesting thought: What if they did a revamp of Back to the Future with a Tesla in place of the DeLorean?

Looks expensive. Speaking of that car, my boyfriend's cousin has a Subaru Alycone SVX, which was designed by the same guy that made the DeLorean. I just wish that it was loaded like my car is or like his car. (Then again, the Chevy Blazer that he has was his father's, then his mother's, so it was passed down).

Remakes, reboots, re-anything ruin everything, no matter how cool the new car of the main characters is.Douglas Collier wrote:a revamp of Back to the Future

Re: Chat Thread 41: Mod Maker
Said so, sounds interesting, with an electric Tesla Motors (great manufacturer choice) car made on purpose for the movie (it has to barely resemble the DeLorean DMC-12). Its new flux capacitor has to be more powerful. It's hard concerning the actors for the characters, the original ones are so much charismatic that any other interpreting would surely be bad.Douglas Collier wrote:Here's an interesting thought: What if they did a revamp of Back to the Future with a Tesla in place of the DeLorean?
The problem is how remake in present a cult movie set on the 1980s giving it the same feeling of the original one. Movies reboots and remakes are known to be disappointing.
I'm interested in Netflix, I want to give it some months of chance. It there's already in several European countries, but when will it come here? I read that, hopefully, the next year will be the right time. There in the US it's an awesome service, but I'm aware that in Europe it can never be at similar levels, because of licenses issues, for first.Drake wrote:I almost exclusively watch TV online through Netflix and Hulu now.

Debatable. Very very debatable.Douglas Collier wrote:Two words: Doctor WhoLiam wrote:Remakes, reboots, re-anything ruin everything, no matter how cool the new car of the main characters is.Douglas Collier wrote:a revamp of Back to the Future
Cesco has a point, it'd be difficult to use anyone but Young Michael Fox and whoever played Doc Brown, name slips my mind. But I imagine it can be done. Maybe if they don't use so much CGI to give it that original feeling.Douglas Collier wrote:Here's an interesting thought: What if they did a revamp of Back to the Future with a Tesla in place of the DeLorean?

Paying 70$ for satellite TV? I always understood that for satellite you just buy the antenna and receiving the program for free... Or do you mean you pay hat for the encoded PayTV?Pladim wrote:Gotta say, when i stopped paying 70$ a month for satellite TV

We went all out last year. I won't say why we didn't do it this year because I'll sound like a broken record. But we had a blow up snow globe in the yard.

no, just like cable you need to pay a monthly fee to keep using the service.Render wrote:Paying 70$ for satellite TV? So basically the main difference is you get a whole lot more channels that you're never going to watch and the chance of bad reception.RandomGeekNamedBrent wrote:no, just like cable you need to pay a monthly fee to keep using the service.Render wrote:Paying 70$ for satellite TV? It's sooo 2000's
I think I'll get Netflix this week for the sake of having a month off from school. I realized that they have many old school cartoons the last time I visited one of my friends who had it.
