Well I guess I do have the basic idea down. But I can't read music or play anything. Maybe a sea song, something to pass the time if I found myself on a boat with a guitar

Don't throw farm fresh tomatoes - that's a waste of food! Give 'em the rotten ones. :P

The German version of thanksgiving the Erntedankfest is (nearly) always on the first Sunday in Oktober. Since it's always on a Sunday, there are no additional days off. And because it's only a religious holiday without being a national holiday here I had to look for the date.

We hav ea public holiday on Boxing Day since it's the day after Christmas. We don't really do much to celebrate it though. We usually use it to recover from Christmas or to party on and see other rellies that you couldn't see on Christmas Day.

The day after Christmas is a festivity day here, the St. Stephen's Day. Is the Boxing Day name related with the gifts unboxing? It sounds so commercial-ish... :P
No thanksgiving festivity day here too, you're free to give thanks to who you want in any day of the year. :P

apparently may have to do with boxes used by churches to collect offerings for the feat of St. Stephen. Or it could be named after servants who got gift boxes from their bosses to take home to their families after waiting on them for Christmas.

my family spends Christmas Eve with my dad's parent's and Christmas Day with my mom's.
then we just do whatever the day after. I don't even know if my dad gets off from work that day.

^ This. Brent beat me to it. :P It's not as commercial as it sounds. Although we do have Boxing Day sales here where shops try to get rid of the last of their Christmas gear.

Aww that's a shame. But family doesn't require a holiday! Maybe y'all can do some sort of late celebration when she's out!

This.

This year I was only able to get the weekend before thanksgiving off from work, so my family celebrated it then.
It was actually the first time our family celebrated thanksgiving in a stereotypical fashion.
