Re: Fursuits: do you own one?
Wouldn't that make you look really bulky though? I know it's worth it for the coling effect, but I'm just wondering how it would look under the alreayd bulky suit...
You mentioned you have a cooling vest, didn't you, Tycho? What sort do you use?

Re: Fursuits: do you own one?
A full-body fursuit is bulky anyway. That's why some get partials. They get just a head, paws and feet and wear long clothing to obscure where the parts end.

Yes, I use a cooling vest.

Works the treat, I can go 2 1/2 hours in high 80's temperatures so long as I keep drinking electrolytes every ten minutes or so.

That looks far less bulky. I wonder how it compares in terms of effectiveness?

Everything is an engineering compromise, from bulk to cost to efficiency to cooling time. The most effective method is probably to grow a really long tongue, drool and pant ;pHlaoroo wrote:That looks far less bulky. I wonder how it compares in terms of effectiveness?

HOLY CRIEKEY! that's brilliant!Kitch wrote:There's got to be somebody who's figured out to wear a water-cooled undergarment under their fursuit. For example, the commercial Veskimo. $546 gets you a water-cooled vest and wearable circulation backpack. When you're spending a couple thousand for a fursuit, it's probably a worthwhile investment.
I swear this wasn't intended to be an ad. x3
Ummm... not fursuit in particular, but I'm getting close...

My friend Will did that one Halloween with his corgis. On was a shark and the other was the advertising mascot "Twinky the Kid".

Fursuits: Do you own one?
Perhaps the question should be modified to ask: "Do you use one?"
Let's see if this file comes through... I'd like to commission some art that's sort of based on this one, I think.
Oh, and P.S.: The furry con was WAY more fun than I ever expected. I didn't know what to expect, as my imagination had me thinking that I'd see all sorts of strange stuff that would make my hair stand up, but in fact, the con was arranged in such a way that all the public places were family friendly enough for most teens. All the adult themed stuff was within rooms posted with attendants who checked your badge and ID. There were hundreds of people who wanted to say hello to me, hug me, and even on Friday and Saturday night, when I met all kinds of people who were >ahem< winding up for a rather loud all-night party, no one was overtly obnoxious or grope-y or anything like that. The con was pleasant. The furry variety show was bizarre, I must admit, but hey, it had it's funny moments. I look forward to going back again.

Nice!
One of my friends is having a fursuit made and she's putting pictures on facebook as the maker sends them to her. I'm jealous now!

Re: Fursuits: do you own one?
Wow my curiosity.
Honestly I don't know what I would do with a fursuit, I don't really live near a place that has furry conventions, I also am not sure I have the personality to walk around in a fursuit and not be embarrassed. Though I still think its a nifty idea and sounds fun.

I happen to think I've got the most housepets-compliant fursuit around thus far...
Though it'd be cool to see an armored Bailey fursuit in real life someday, or a Pete or even a Dragon.
-_-_-_-
Foxyfluff, I'm rather envious that you got to AC.
Nice to see the photo in order to break the Tychoaussie monopoly here
Hey Drake,
The trick of fursuiting in public is to first understand that you are wearing an outrageous and astonishing costume that is an attention magnet. Therefore anything you do will be a self-fulfillng prophesy: You can either act embarrassed or act like the life of the festival and embrace the attention. You can't escape the attention or scrutiny, so it's best to just go for it. Wave a lot, smile and hop up & down, be the entertainer and clown. Then once you hit the groove and see people reacting positively to your antics, the positive reinforcement quickly changes your very personality and makes you become just a little more outgoing. Perhaps the best thing if you are interested is to try to borrow someone's fursuit and give it a go. Anything you do wrong will be attributed to the fursuit owner (!) so there's very little risk.

Re: Fursuits: do you own one?
Darn though Tychoaussie, have to admit that suit is a beautiful piece of work! So adorable and snuggly looking!
Hopefully (if everything goes well) I should be getting a fursuit. Very well = a bit before/early October. If not a little bit afterwards. (Fingers crossed for as early as possible...and of course it looking good. oh please look good pleeeeeeaaasssseeeee!) Already gone through the commission stage, now just have to wait for it to be built and sent to me. *Squeal of anticipation*
Soon, soon the awesome snuggliness shall begin!

I wish I had one, or a partial. I think a partial would be best, thinking on it. Closest thing I have is a red fox hoodie, which I do like wearing.

My next big event is likely to be an appearance at an international seismological school in Yerevan, Armenia this September where everybody but me speaks Russian. This one stretches my comfort zone just a wee bit... But if I can pull it off successfully, I'll be able to fursuit anywhere, probably.
