I'm working on my character now but there's one hopefully last thing I need to know. What are the policy's on magic in the game?
Play The Hayseed Knight. This isn’t self promotion, I just really like the game.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
At long last here's my character and his owner!
Ben Walker
8000BF
Main
Yet to be determined type of fox
5 human years/ 17.5 pet years
17th century fox
Brown with red spots across his body, which form a flaming pattern on the back. Wears leather gauntlets with light metal plating on them. Blue eyes.
Ben is smart, but he tends not to think before he acts. He winds up saying a lot of things that sounded better in his head. He tends to be honest at time when he shouldn't, and yes, you do look fat in that dress. He tries to be kind to people he thinks deserve it. He despises those who pull "wounded gazelle gambit" or betray the trust he gives. He values the people he calls friends and losing them is one of his greatest fears. He's quite perceptive, and is great at spotting liars. Is very weak physically.
Other notes:
Loves listening to the sound of rain
Fears being yelled at
Stats:
S: 4
P: 9
E: 4
C: 4
A: 5
I: 9
L: 7
Miles walker
Human
Black hair. Orange eyes. Has a goatee. Wears a black robe-like coat.
Extremely good at navigating. Knows maps better than you know the back of your hand. Slightly cowardly in a fight and not afraid to use dishonorable tactics to get what he wants. He is a kind person at heart though
Tell me if I need to change anything.

I'm not sure what you mean by "rope-like jacket" and people don't have purple eyes but aside from that I like the owner. Ben looks like a great character too and I've no complaints about him. He's approved.

Extremely dark blue eyes are often described as violet or purple (eg, Elizabeth Taylor).

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
Wish you had said that before I edited them to orange. Also, really, how SHOULD the captain and my character meet? I'm stuck between in a tavern or as captured members of an concurred ship. Tavern feels more likely, but we could also get some good character building from capture. Also there's a joke a forgot to point out in Bens description about the internet. First person to find it gets a invisible cookie.

Your characters could be spectators of the fighting arena, if that'll help.

Actually, the fighting arena is a new idea, suggested on the previous page or 2.

They just had a sea battle. Don't think you want to have too many of them.Legotron123 wrote:Wish you had said that before I edited them to orange. Also, really, how SHOULD the captain and my character meet? I'm stuck between in a tavern or as captured members of an concurred ship.

*googles* Okay, apparently a certain colour of brown eye can look orange in the sunlight so I'll buy that.Legotron123 wrote:Wish you had said that before I edited them to orange.
Firefox? I didn't even think of that. Clever.Legotron123 wrote:Also there's a joke a forgot to point out in Ben's description about the internet.
Yeah, I think either the tavern or the arena will be best. No sense in having a sea battle when we've only just had one and the ship is damaged and needing repairs. They'd never win in their current state.Legotron123 wrote:Maybe, but I've already thought a bit of a conversation for if they got captured.

Thanks, Hotep.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
Never been named. How about "La Cabra y Compases"?
Or "El Contribuyente Feliz"?
Or "El Gato y Crisol Natillas"?
A good piratical name, "El Cesto de Sangre".

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
Castillo Pato isn't a pirate town, precisely, and the Impudence isn't a pirate ship, precisely. You wouldn't talk about "pirates" here, you'd call them "adventurers" or "free traders" or something.Legotron123 wrote:At Juan's inn, there is a man and his fox, sitting at a table. This would be Mile walker, and his fox Ben. They sit there discussing potential employment possiblities. You'd think there'd be more pirates looking for workers at a place who's name is Spanish for "bucket of blood!" We must not have come during job season. Ben sat at the other side, contemplating their situation. Its probably something else. Maybe this place has a bad reputation among sailers? It's most likely that the sailers hiring just haven't got here yet. You're probably right. I mean, I'm pretty well qualified for a position as navigator! He holds up his bag. I've got everything a good navigator needs in here! A compass, a handheld telescope, and dozens of maps covering every inch of the sea! Who wouldn't hire me!?!
Also, you need a quadrant and an astrolabe or backstaff - the sextant hasn't been invented yet. Marine chronometers are just beginning to show up and there probably isn't one on a ship in the Spanish Main yet (and when they show up in a few years a good Chronometer will be worth more than a good ship)... most ships will head north or south to the latitude they they want and follow that line until they reach the land they're looking for.

Probably not, it's a respectable establishment. For the time and place.
It's named after a pub in England.

Wait... Now I'm confused...
So we have Juan Acosta's Inn which is as yet unnamed and which is semi-classy.
We have the tavern, "El Cesto del Sangre", the "Bucket of Blood" in which the arena is located, right?
Lego, Giffr Palgrave is still on the ship, sorry. He'll be ashore shortly though. Why not have your characters meet Blacks or Rhyme or one of the others in the meantime?
Scratch that. I'll do a quick skip so we can get things moving since Hotep may or may not be able to post.

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
I'll edit it soon cause right now my family is packing for a trip to mackinaw island so I don't have time to do it now. Hopefully by three I'll be able to do it.
Edit: Once again I forget to read the OOC before I post. I already changed it to meeting black instead, so you should probably keep it the same as it is now.

I was thinking of that being Juan's tavern, with the name being due to a reddish tint in the well water, like the original "Bucket of Blood" in England.Hlaoroo wrote:Wait... Now I'm confused...

Re: 17th Century Fox - OOC
Right...
So Juan's inn/tavern is "El Cesto del Sangre" and the arena is the less-reputable tavern called "La Piedra de calypso", right?
Okay, I think I'm on the same page now. Sorry about this. I got a little caught by surprise by the sudden naming of everything.
So who does Eduardo need to bet on in order to win Ariel?
