The problem with changing the size of the textures is that people with a computer like mine won't be able to use it.
I can't have one of those 64x textures.

In other news, 1.7.4 has just been released. The update includes a twitch plug in, where you can record your gameplay directly in minecraft, and upload it directly to twitch.

Soon enough, we can record updates for the Minepets forum!

So, when will we be able to work on the map?

I don't know how high resolution textures work. I didn't even know you could do that without mods.
That's pretty cool! :D

We'll be able to work on the map when someone (or I) get(s) around to making a world painter map. I also won't be able to work on anything until this weekend because of end-of-semester projects that are designed to crush you under their size...
I break my computer, so you don't have to! :D

Ahh. I can't do the world painter, but I suggest Rook, because he knows more about it than any of us.

Oh, really? That's a shame :( ... well I guess I'll make a seperate version, what's the maximum size for the sprites and textures for you?

Or, you can make an 8x version, a 32x version, and a 64x version.

It's not needed anymore since 1.6.
But I can recommend to use OptiFine. Many things can be adjusted to improve the performance.

wait, I'm using a 64x laptop. most of the sprites are around 500x500 pixels... does that mean I could only do 250x250 for a 32x laptop?
EDIT) also, what's OptiFine?

I don't think the dimensions of the textures matters. Right? Right?

CHAOKOCartoons wrote:also, what's OptiFine?
OptiFine is a mod designed to optimize your CPU's energy and graphics levels while playing MC.
FOR INSTANCE:
You can turn off running water or lava. (Make it non-moving)
You can adjust render distance by slider bar, instead of strictly choosing between tiny, short, medium, far.
You can turn off that fog you see in the distance.
Other cool things that you can fully customise when it comes to graphics and gameplay.
As a result, IT REDUCES LAG!!!
(Especially for large projects, which is the reason I've got it :D)

I still only have 1.4.7 for the time being, and I know that Optifine has probably gotten WAY more customizable since the release I have.
It's sometimes a must for server players, as there is a lot going on, and you don't want to lag.

Optifine's versatility is useful for lag reducing, though I personally don't use it much. (Now at least) A note on it making water and lava cease motion: this applies to the textures only, the fluids themselves still function as before. Optifine has other lag-reducing features of note, such as the ability to be selective about which particles you see beyond 'all/some/none' Interestingly its sliding bar for render distance is still more refined than the vanilla one implemented in 1.7

From what I remember, you need a dual core processor in order for it to do more good than harm on your computer.

Nice features are also to disable the rendering of the weather which helps a lot on weak computers or only switching off the rain splash what turns off the rain-noise. Also better grass and snow as well as connected textures (glass, bookshelfs, ...) are supported. You can turn out the bedrock fog, etc.
Optifine can be found here.

Ok, here's the deal for my schedule in the next month.
For the next week I'm insanely busy with a huge project so I'll be busy. Then I'm on winter break for a few weeks where I'll be going to Florida, where they do have internet, so I can get on at night when I'm not at the pool and bean chilling. Afterwards I'm pretty much free except for the presentation of the big project.

Uh-oh, I found something out about texturing blocks with a larger scale than 16x16. the image will look good upclose, but from far away you can see through the world when looking at the outside of the block.
Image
So we won't be able to do anything too fancy with blocks... :(

EDIT) oh no wait, I forgot that it had to be 256x256, 128x128, 64x64, or 32x32 exactly. :?

The startuplogo is really nice.

To make the chicken be the what chicken shouldn't be too much of a problem. What do you think about Karishad being the tameable wolves? Having pet Karis would be great, or?

Alternative: Have the wolves be the wolves. It may be a bit harder to tell, but we do already know what their pups look like, whereas Kari would just be a smaller him.

The small wolves are also only smaller wolves and have no separate texture.

I would prefer small Karis to tame.

Ah, nice. :) And the grass is looking much better now, before it was just a plain green surface. Can you make some additional lines like the black ones but in other shades of green so that there is more sructure?

What's the green thing on the left?

Do you have all type of brooms now?

1) Will do
2) My shrine to THE GREAT KITSUINE
3) Well, there's the normal broom and then the "thrifty" broom (diamond sword). All the other weapons are the pitchfork, Spike's heavenly scythe, and Karishad's spear.
4) Also will do
5) Now I have to re texture the bed... again.

Notice to everyone working on the Minepets! project: Due to final exams, I will not be able to check the forums or work on the server. This will last until Saturday, December 21st. Sorry :/

Also, if someone wants to do the World Painter thing, it's up for grabs. Otherwise, let me know what you want the world to look like.
