Re: My Little Pony
UGH!
That is just nasty to look at!
I will post some pictures of it later, but I have two My Little Pony buttons on my coat. Unfortunately one of them popped of and I can't find it! But anyway, one is Rainbow Dash's cutie mark on a blue background, and the one that I lost was a picture of Rainbow Dash in flight. What annoyed me was that both came from a horror convention I attended in Charlotte. I'm sure that I could get another though.
Here is something to wash the nasty taste of that picture, here is a late but very sweet Christmas comic with Derpy and Dinky.

I'm sure it wasn't just one person. A bunch probably noticed that they looked alike and made note of it publicly, at which point everyone started speculating the whole mother and daughter thing.
When something becomes so big that it may as well be cannon, I can't help but think more than one person made the connection.

Ya know, I was working on a story of mine yesterday; not a fan fiction, just one of my stories I hope to get published. And I realized all of a sudden that I would absolutely love to write for My Little Pony. The thought just sneaked up on me out of the blue.
Is that weird?

Strangely enough, I had that thought just a few hours ago when I was taking a shower.
I was thinking about episodes I would like to see in the future and it just turned into "Well, what if I could write a few?"

It's the same thing with me and voice-acting. If I was given the opportunity to do some voice-over work for FiM, I'd be about the happiest guy on the planet.

Re: My Little Pony
Just a little something a member of another forum pointed out that you might find interesting:
I'm not a fan of MLP, but I figured you guys would probably eat this up.
In case any of you are wondering, the Sonic images pictured are from an episode of "SatAM Sonic the Hedgehog". (If any of you have seen the two shows then you'd know just how similar these two episodes are to one another in... well... just about every way).
Heres a quote from the other forum of what we've discussed so far:
If any of you are at all interested in this I'll try and get you the information from my buddy as soon as I get word back from him.

I still haven't figured out the episode yet, so if anyone could tell me that would be swell.TheMobian wrote:hmmm, this is very interesting indeed.Legionfan44 wrote:Tsurugi wrote: If I didn't know any better, I'd say there's a SatAM writer/fan among the creative team
This requires Further Research.
I know the writer of the episode was Corey Ann Powell and she's never worked on Sonic, only notable franchises I know she's worked on off the top of my head would be Land Before Time & Care Bears...but you know I wouldn't be surprised at all if one of the various storyboard artists or animators for the show worked on Satam back in the day, hmm.
.... seriously someone should research that, t'would be quite awesome if we could find a connection.
Well, I'll tell you what I can do. I know a guy by the name of Tim who is one of the animators for the My Little Pony TV show, and I know that he was at one point a major fan of SatAM and the original Sonic the Hedgehog comics. I can shoot him an email today and ask him about the episode, and hopefully he'll be able to tell me if it was a shout out in any way to SatAM.
I'll get back to you guys as soon as I can on that
EDIT: Can anyone tell me what specific episode this is from (Name and episode number)? I don't watch the show, and I frankly wouldn't have a clue
If any of you are at all interested in this I'll try and get you the information from my buddy as soon as I get word back from him.
Fino is coming, and he's bringing moon pizza.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Sonic scene came from something else as well, likely some version of Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
Re: My Little Pony
Nope, but just about all the writers on that show have writing credits elsewhere so..it would not be a easy thing to get. You have to get noticed first.Penwrite wrote:Ya know, I was working on a story of mine yesterday; not a fan fiction, just one of my stories I hope to get published. As for Derpy, well, I'll definitely be disappointed, but I'll also understand where they're coming from. With all the past controversy around the character, it would be awkward at the least to call her a mother.
On the other hand, future writers of MLP, who will probably be members of this fandom, may themselves make a canon character like her. After all, Faust based Friendship is Magic on her memories of the show as a kid. Anything's possible. (except Cupcakes)

Uh, don't we already know what Spike will look like when he grows up? Why does everyone keep drawing him with wings and stuff when the last peak at his 'adult' form didn't have wings at all? Not all dragons have them. Is this a case of canon not fitting in with people's head canon and they are rejecting it?
Re: My Little Pony
People like to give re-designs to characters in a way they find to be cooler or cuter (or both). I really enjoy seeing some of those redesigns. This is not a MLP excluse thing.Foxstar wrote:Uh, don't we already know what Spike will look like when he grows up? Becuase as an artist you basically have the right/ability to do whatever you want and very little can tell you otherwise.
I can draw Rarity with 3 eyes for all I care.
"Oh well, Rarity only has two eyes"
"I don't particularly care"
As an example of disagreeing with canon as opposed to just being silly. DJ Pon-3's eyes. A lot of people still draw them red just cause they like it that way. For whatever reasons.
"Her eyes are magenta you know!"
"I do know, but red looks better. Make your own drawing if you want magenta."

Spike's "adult" form is not necessarily what natural aging will make him look like.Foxstar wrote:Uh, don't we already know what Spike will look like when he grows up? Like Sleet said, we don't actually know that. Reason being: in Secret of My Excess, Spike was forced to age far more quickly than he normally would (a couple days VS several hundred years). The episode also told us that embracing his greedy nature caused him to "grow"; not "mature". It made him bigger, but things like wings, horns, or crests would take a long time for his body to develop. Hence the lack of any notable changes to his anatomy.Foxstar wrote:Uh, don't we already know what Spike will look like when he grows up? Re: My Little Pony
I feel like recommending some fanfics just because
Austraeoh this one is really really long (clocking in at 200 chapters and 212,744 Words) and has a sequel Eljunbyro that is getting close to being as long (113 chapters more which are added daily and 119,831 words). Luckily the chapters themselves are very short, a 5 minute read at the longest for most people. Basically for some unknown reason Rainbow Dash has to travel across Equestria (saying basically anything more would be spoilers really). This author is in fact Short Skirts and Explosions (writer of Background Pony and End of Ponies among other stories) under an alt account basically pulling a Stephen King/Richard Bachman deal. Basically if you think that SS&E normal stuff is to dark or dense to get though (or you want to ease into his writings) give this stuff a try, Its much lighter in both areas, though not as light as the show ratings wise mind you. It will take you a while to get though obviously (I'm only about 42 chapters into Austraeoh myself) but its really good and as I said the chapters are a quick read.
Halo: On The Wings of Angels A really good Halo/FIM crossover. Twilight botches a spell and gets trapped on an earth colony being attacked by the Covenant and gets picked up by some ODSTs. The story is told by Twilight to everyone in flashbacks.

One of the upcoming episodes was inspired by Fawlty Towers which is a British Sitcom from the Mid 70s. Begin speculation about what episode inspired it, lucky there are only 12 of them to pick from.
Edit: from what I'm gathering from the episode descriptions of Fawlty Towers on Wikipedia its likely this seasons Rarity Episode.
