I love the cold. Hot can be good to, I just don't like to much of it.texascat018 wrote:it's soo cold. it's around 24'F
I like cold too. You can always put more clothes on. You can only take off so many. Even less so if you have concepts of decency. And legality.Punchy wrote:I love the cold. Hot can be good to, I just don't like to much of it.
I've grown quite attached to the English system seeing how I use it everyday (well, almost everyday) in school in my carpentry and pluming classes.Sleet wrote:Also thing my country has: dumb units.![]()
It helped me a lot to turn my phone's weather application to Celsius.JeffCvt wrote:I've grown quite attached to the English system seeing how I use it everyday (well, almost everyday) in school in my carpentry and pluming classes.Sleet wrote:Also thing my country has: dumb units.![]()
But it is quite confusing at times. Inches to feet to miles, they are all different ratios. It would be so much easier to simply adopt the metric system, but of course that would cause all kinds of havoc.
Hmm... you may be right to be skeptical. I'm looking for a news article, but I'm not finding anything; only that there is an urban legend about it. Only thing I've found relevant is this, http://www.cbsnews.com/2100-201_162-5197720.html , but that's talking about the USA receiving them, not providing them. http://www.futurity.org/health-medicine ... l-on-poor/ says much the same.JeffCvt wrote:Also, Louisiana sounds like a cool place to visit. Although I don't believe that story about people having there organs removed.Sleet wrote:Also thing my country has: dumb units.![]()
How much is that exactly? I have not watched American (or, in your case, Canadian) television, so I would not know how much that is. In Britain, on average, from what I have observed, there could be something between 6 to 10 adverts per break. BBC has no adverts so they are not included. And some television channels would have exceedingly more than others.texascat018 wrote:I think we (are forced to) watch awful lots of TV Ads comparing to other countries.
I think we are just about the same. maybe little bit more than 6 to 10.MilesKingford wrote:How much is that exactly? Psychologists believe that exposure to so much mental manipulation from adverts of all kinds has led to the development of many psychological disorders in young people of our modern age.

It's the same case in Malaysia, only that most of the TV ads here either wants to portray the product as more fun and exciting than it is, or wants to portray a short story that tugs at the heartstrings or give that sense of familiarity.texascat018 wrote:I think we (are forced to) watch awful lots of TV Ads comparing to foregin countries.
this one, I totally get it! maybe because I'm Asian?Kuro! wrote:Non-Malaysians might not get the whole idea, but if you want to really see a slice of life among Malaysians, then these are some good bets:

Our ads are the worst right now because they are ALL political. Since we're close to Virginia, we get a number of Presidential and Virginia Government ads, and on top of it Maryland is currently having a frenzy over a gambling referendum that's launched the most expensive political ad campaign in state history.kurowolfe wrote:It's the same case in Malaysia, only that most of the TV ads here either wants to portray the product as more fun and exciting than it is, or wants to portray a short story that tugs at the heartstrings or give that sense of familiarity.texascat018 wrote:I think we (are forced to) watch awful lots of TV Ads comparing to foregin countries.

I'll be glad to see them gone next week.
It's even worse because they're mostly on that referendum; essentially what happens is one ad says "the Washington Post says this referendum will help schools and the economy" and the next says "the Washington Post says this referendum won't help schools and the economy".Sleet wrote:Did you hear?
