Re: My Little Pony
This episode was great not as good as last weeks but close. Big Mac finally talking was amazing really enjoyed that a lot. Twilight being able to hold that force field up all that time was cool. I liked Pinkie admitting she has a problem. CMC got what they deserved from Rainbow Dash (even if I like them more then most fans) a lot of neat little things were learned about characters in this episode which was nice. I just wonder why the Mayor dyes her hair Gray that seems a bit strange, though its most likely to look more "Mayoral" or something like that. 7/10 IMO
Re: My Little Pony
In all honesty, probably my favorite episode this season, barring the opening special with Discord.
I dawww'd so hard when Scootaloo tried to keep herself aloft in the beginning of the episode. She's like a hummingbird. x3 And while this episode definitely kept consistent with making Diamond Tiara a grade-A jerk, I was proud of her for not making a single blank-flank joke the entire episode. Haha.
I also loved the voice of the colt working the printing press. Reminded me of Poindexter from Danny Phantom. And while I loved the scene with Applejack and Big Mac switching their usual roles (it had my head-canon doing ecstatic back flips), it, along with everyone else's reactions to the CMC walking through town, didn't make much sense to me.
I understand why everyone was angry (that makes sense), but the whole, "Just get out of here; I never wanna talk to you again!" mentality was waaaaaay overkill, IMO. Not necessarily from a viewer standpoint, I think it worked quite well for the episode to garner sympathy for them. But from a general logistics standpoint, it's akin to my complaints with certain episodes that painted usually happy, friendly ponies as opportunistic, standoff-ish jerks.
Especially considering they're just fillies who expressed genuine guilt for what they'd done. I mean, no one suspected that someone might have been putting them up to it? But I digress. It was an awesome episode.

Re: My Little Pony
That was a very good episode. Not very many laugh out loud moments, but that's more than made up for by the great story and character work. And was it just me, or was the music for this episode especially good?
Also, I love how they had the chubby pony wearing a fez. Fezzes are cool.
Edit: Also, I loved the Trixie thing

Re: My Little Pony
This was an awesome episode! I like the little callbacks like Trixie and Smarty Pants. And there were all sorts of little gags I loved, like Sweetie Belle smacking Rarity's horn to turn off her telekinesis, and Big Mac talking normally while Applejack only says "Eeyup!" And Twilight's force field and Rainbow Dash's target raincloud strike were pretty awesome.
Also did anyone see the Nyandash poster Scootaloo had?

I almost forgot about the horn smacking. WE KNOW THE UNICORNS' WEAKNESS!!!
of course Twilight is safe cause she can just put a force field around her horn.

Well we at least know Rarity's weakness anyway (and most likely other unskilled Unicorns). I doubt it would work on Twilight or Unicorns who regularly use their horns for stuff other then Telekinesis.RandomGeekNamedBrent wrote:I almost forgot about the horn smacking. Re: My Little Pony
Ohhhhhhh yeah! The scene with Rarity going through Sweetie Belle's bag, and everything that ensued was brilliant. :3 As were the throwbacks to Trixie and Smarty Pants.
I do need to go rewatch to see the Nyandash poster though.

Re: My Little Pony
You know someone on 4chan just pointed out something, The CMC were sad they lost all their other freinds only because they didn't get their cutie marks. So that means they would have been fine if they had gotten their cutie marks in the process of losing all their friends.

Re: My Little Pony
they were also losing the friendship of their family (except Scootaloo, but I don't think she liked RD hating her). So they wouldn't have been fine.

Let me rephrase that: The CMC would have thought that it would have been worth it if they had gotten their cutie marks.RandomGeekNamedBrent wrote:they were also losing the friendship of their family (except Scootaloo, but I don't think she liked RD hating her). So they wouldn't have been fine.

Re: My Little Pony
my point still stands. They don't have any other friends because of their lack of cutie marks, but at least their family weren't disappointed in them. Rarity was mad at Sweetie Bell, AJ wouldn't even talk to Applebloom. They wouldn't have thought it was worth losing their families' approval.
Re: My Little Pony
I think you're both correct. they were disapointed for both losing the friendship and making all that "effort" be in vain.

Re: My Little Pony
I believe the line was something similar to, "Everyone's mad at us and we still don't have our cutie marks!"
That would indicate that they are upset by both things. If they had gotten their cutie marks, they'd still have been negatively impacted by losing their friends/family, but at least it wouldn't have been a double-wammy for them. Because they only continued to do the things they did, which they knew did (or had the potential to) hurt others' feelings, in hopes that it might reveal their cutie marks.
Since it didn't help them find their cutie marks, they not only alienated themselves from their friends and families, but also failed to accomplish what they'd hoped to accomplish by doing so.

Meh. Semantics.
It's the same instrument. Most "fiddle" players have some classical training anyway.

Re: My Little Pony
Yes and no. The CMC are somewhat pigeon holed as it is writing wise because every time they appear as a group, almost, it has to do with them seeking their cutie marks. I think it is as Brent says, a double whammy, they ticked off everyone in Ponyville and still didn't have anything to show for it, making the whole thing worthless. I don't think they would have been okey with it even if they had gotten their cutie marks because of the amount of blowback they got, but keep in mind, they are kids and kids don't always think things though completely.IceKitsune wrote:Let me rephrase that: The CMC would have thought that it would have been worth it if they had gotten their cutie marks.RandomGeekNamedBrent wrote:they were also losing the friendship of their family (except Scootaloo, but I don't think she liked RD hating her). Re: My Little Pony
People seem to forget that Big Macintosh spoke in an episode in the first season. It was the (4th one I think) episode in which Mac was hurt and Applejack worked herself into exhaustion trying to cover for his work and still help the other ponies.

Re: My Little Pony
I didn't forget, but we wanted him to talk more. one time in 2 seasons would be negligible. 2 1/2(counting H&H day as half of one because he didn't say actual words) is still not that much.

He spoke, yes, but this is significant because he's usually not very wordy, and Applejack was talking like he usually does.Radio Blue Heart wrote:People seem to forget that Big Macintosh spoke in an episode in the first season.
