It's just a running joke between me and my friends.
The Whitest kids you know did a sketch making fun of sublime and we just kind of ran with it.

I really like Rise agains thte more I hear them.
They remind me alot of Against me! more for the activism angle than the actual musical style, though both have a slight punk tinge to their music.

Not bad. Sends a pretty clear message... The video is bit strange though. I thought it was funny at 1:17 where that guy got Ju-Jitsued. LOL

I love the video, the social commentary is pretty heavy handed but it definently gets the point across

I stumbled across this music circle called Floating Clouds while browsing through the new wave of Touhou remixes from the latest Comiket, and I've got to say, it's quite surprising.

Here, have a listen for yourself

EDIT: Ok, I found the group performing live. Don't mind the masks though.

It sounds kind of like a hardcore band but their lyrics are much much cleaner and the tone is happier in general.

If someone tried to take a stab at my personality or philosophy they'd have a tough time doing it through the music I listen to, and I think that's true of most people. A lot of it is just plain antithetical.

Last week I had Only The Good Die Young and Mika's Lollipop stuck in my head at the same time. Now Be Happy and this infectious abomination courtesy of Sleet are dueling for my ears. Then add in Don't Hug Me I'm Scared (which I won't link to because I think it's a little too disturbing, at points) in contrast with Winchester Cathedral.

I always think it's weird when people assume that one's personality and musical (or really, any artistic) tastes should align. There is some overlap, I suppose, but not enough to draw very consistent comparisons. To me, it seems, they're ideas, and ideas can be intriguing even without being practically attractive to someone. Similar to how people like tragedies and horror films, even though we don't really like being sad or afraid in reality. I think dictatorships are interesting, but I'm no fan of autocracy. Dinosaurs are sweet, but I'm none too excited to meet any. I like blue, but I'm not blue.
