Is that I think I can relate to you all too well. A bit too well. For it's not really that nice of a thing. From what I've understood of the somewhat ambiguous statements, anyways.

Joy: I came back from the Academy of Sciences, it was great day! :3 There was quite a lot of people (the room was full) and it was a nice event, several of the scientists who work there spoke to us, including Michael Heyrovsky, son of the Jaroslav Heyrovsky (Czech scientist, he invented polarography and received a nobel prize for it, he's also one of people who brought physical chemistry to the academic grounds in the Czech republic, he has to study it abroad, because it was sort of unknown here at that time). There were other important people and a leader (not exactly sure of the name of the position) of Czech division of Intel.

Of course, there were also some other successful students who were already competing abroad and were quite successful. In the end, 18 teachers got an award, based on the winners of the SOČ competition (a competition for young scientists, it has 18 science areas) who nominated them, I nominated my high school teacher who helped me to get into this competition and present the project, so he got his well deserved award, he was quite happy, in fact, you can look here at the video I took:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXcr2RsxWYk

It's kind of embarrassing though, they first said my name and then told me to stood up, so they can see and then name of my project (attoWPU, it's even here on the forums :P ) and then my teacher received the award.

Big Sorrow: Vaclav Havel, our first post-revolutionary president, died on Sunday morning at age 75. He was also a theater drama writer and a lot of his works (which are absurd dramas) are anti-communist. He was in prison several times due to this (fortunately they couldn't execute him like they did some other people who spoke against the regime, because he was known worldwide as a writer), which hurt his health a lot, but in the end, he won and was one of the key people who made our country free.

Some of the scientists at the event I was today actually knew him personally, so they told us how he was always humble and nice and friendly, whenever they needed something from him, just like Jaroslav Heyrovsky, not pompous like a lot of today's politicians. We held a minute of silence as a memory to him, it's really sad, there were also black flags at the buildings of the Academy of Sciences and I'm sure at other places as well:

Image

If you want to honor is memory by reading/viewing some of his work, I can recommend "Audience", which I read (and saw, as it's a theater play) and is example of the absurd drama. It's basically autobiographical, as he, an intellectual, was himself forced to do a low job at some brewery... when he wanted to write and create, but it was forbidden to him by the government (but he did it anyway and made his own underground publishing company for authors who were against the communist regime as well and couldn't publish publicly. Funny thing is, that EVERY book that he sold was personally signed by him).

Guys, avoid controversial topics please. I'm not saying you have to ignore major news events altogether, but tread lightly and treat things with as much caution as possible.

Let's just state that Kim Jong Il has in fact died and leave it at that. If you'd like to know more, there are a plethora of news resources and discussion forums available to you on this very internet to learn and converse about the issue.

On a more relevant note, here's a joy: This week looks like pretty light work, meaning I might get some stuff done that I promised myself I would.

Sorrow: my older sister is back from university for a unspecified period of time. Within three days of her being here she has managed to cause me and my younger sister to hate her and want her gone again and even worse she has been really horrible to mum.

Sorrow; thanks to my older sister we now have to spend christmas day at nan's house. while it is nice to see nan we have to waste most of christmas day sitting around staring at the wall instead of playing with much awaited presents. My only hope is to get DS games on christmas to keep me occupied for the day.

Sorrow. Still no snow. ARRRG!

Sorrow: overspammed playing sonic and mario at the olympics with my younger sister now my arms want to die.

Joy: My once broken game has all of a sudden started working almost perfectly again. And it is one of my favorites YAY!

Either you can help being violent (and hence need to try), or if you can't help it then you need help.

You do NOT want to be violent, believe you me--that's scary.
