You're a teenager, no teenager has a life. They just go to school and do other junk, but they don't count as actual people really. You just gotta wait until you're old enough to do your own thing. Until then, fill your time however you want.

I have friends and places to go on the weekends, but I can never seem to hang out with my friends, and when I do I kind of feel like I'm just tagging along.

In that case, your mom sucks and completely forgot how teens are. You're a teenager, your not supposed to have a life yet! Just sit around, do useless homework, study things you will never actually apply like trigonometric functions and waste your parents money which, as soon as you get old enough to be self sustainable and your parents ask you for money, send you on a guilt trip simply because they spent money on you their whole lives and THIS is the thanks they get... I think I'm turning this into a rant about my own family, stopping now.

I'm just saying. Teenagers complain about stupid things, like not having a life, when in reality we're just part of a subsociety and we're all just waiting to growup, and then that's when stuff actually counts. So you don't need to worry about little problems like that.

It's not an age thing as much as an independence thing.
Youget a life When you move out/when your parents decide to let you do your own thing with minimal restrictions.
So generally high schoolers/teens dont have a life.
