Well, I of course meant using it in regular conversation. In a technical setting such as math or science class, I advocate it. But using it when talking casually to people is very jerkish. However, Your science teacher IS, in fact, a science teacher, so he/she is either a jerk or an awesome person anyway.

There are plenty of places the metric system is more convenient and would be used conversationally, even in a place operating on imperial measurements. There's a reason our rulers have centimeters on them, ya know.

Regardless, I don't think there's a very convenient imperial counterpart to the kilogram.

I think the temperature difference is the only thing that bothers me, because I have no sense of perspective when looking in terms of Celsius. All I know is that water freezes at 0.

Let it be known that I love the metric system. Once you get used to the units, it just makes much more sense than our system based around the length of King Henry's foot. But I am still a bit hazy on temperature ... Lessee, 30 degrees C would be around room temperature, right?

Depends on what your definition of room temp is. It should be around 84 F I believe

Well the Fahrenheit scale is in fact more accurite because it has more units between freezing and boiling. Fahrenheit got 0 when he combined salt, water, and ice to make the coldest thing he could, and called that 0, freezing fell into 32, and 212 is boiling. Also, 451 is when books will burn. Celsius on the other hand called frozen water 0 and boiling water 100 to make it an easy to use system.

In one of my subjects, I use five different temperature scales and their convertions. Also if you want an easy way to convert Celsius to Farenheit use this: F= 1.8 (Celsius degrees) +32

Every 9 degrees Fahrenheit is equal to 5 degrees Celsius. That's another way to look at it.

0 = 32
5 = 41
10 = 50

etc..

Hi

I was wondering, would it be alright to copy an image from the webcomic for an avatar or not?

I wanted to have an avatar, but since I am an horrendous drewer and I lack the means to get the image onto the computer (scanning equipment and the like) I wondered whether I could do this instead. Or perhaps I could ask Rick if he would make me an avatar, would he do that? I just want to make sure I would not be doing anything wrong...or illegal for that matter (copy right law). I thought it best to ask before I did anything and in a place many members (and moderators) would be able to tell me whether I can do it or not.
