I'm betting whatever damage done to the character doesn't affect Tarot whatsoever, even when she's under their control.

What i got a chuckle out of though is Max with the broom though. so technically everything they were doing was in some way in the room. I'm guessing only the cats though could actually use the real furniture though while Tarot and Peanut did the rest with their mind. if that's true, i'm calling the keep as the refrigerator @_@

As for Max, i'm wondering about his wording the most. I don't picture any serious bad karma between them two, but it sure wouldn't be a smooth move if he was referring to Peanut in pecticular. but then again, i'm guessing this would be the SECOND time he would've not noticed something minor @_@

All in all, it's a rough turn of events, but i'm sure everything will turn out for the better. If not, then i request that Grape and Peanut learn a valuable lesson after this. =3

On my first reading, I thought he meant "now that the Superdog's gone," like he didn't know what was going on, just that Spot had flown off.

...

Now I'm not so sure... Hmm...

He said "THAT dog" which leads me to think perhaps he's NOT talking about Peanut in general but about the superhero dog in particular--besides, he didn't seem to have a problem when he and Grape thought Peanut was playing Saso....

If we didn't know before, we certainly know now that Rick's a troper.

...have we seen Peanut angry before? I'm not sure we have. Well, aside from when Max first arrived. And at first I felt sorry for Max, but then I realized he's kinda being a jerk.

The more complex something gets, the more likely it can be for it to fail!

Yeah, the closest to angry we've seen Peanut before is "comic angry," not like this. :(

And yeah, I don't know if Max is as aware as Grape seems to be becoming at what they've been doing....

The ONLY time I remember Peanut being seriously angry was back when Joey disclosed his cat-fetish to him.
And Max...well, I must rethink his position. He looks like he'd reconsider him being there if he knew what Grape's invitation would cause...

Huh, that's how most of my make-believe sessions ended too.
Me and my sister yelling about something stupid :?.

I think both Peanut and Grape are at fault with this one.
It never seemed like Max was hijacking anyone's good time.
But that's probably just Peanut being jealous...

Aww poor Max.. HE was having fun!

And poor peanut :( Got his widdle feelings hurt!

I love how in the first frame Spot has the same posture that you would expect Peanut to have in that case; which seems a little out of character for a super buff guy, which is perfect for the scene. Amazing attention to detail Rick :D

Peanut might be taking things a little too personally here, but remember that he has feelings for Grape, and so Max's butting into playtime is something that affects him on more than one level; he even shows irritation when Grape calls him "Maxie", so when Grape invites him over unannounced to take part in their private playtime, takes a sudden break from the search for the Lost Idol, arbitrarily changes the setting of the adventure for her and Max's sake (even though Peanut consents), and accuses Peanut of powergaming, all of these things serve to twist the knife a little deeper. (We'll ignore using Tarot's brain as a holodeck, for the moment, even though that isn't very nice either.)

Peanut makes most of these points in the second panel, but perhaps the most damning is when he says that he isn't meeting Max and Grape's standards. Think back to the first Imaginate arc, and you can plainly see that anything goes: ninjas, zombies, pirates, whatever, all for the sake of fun. But this isn't Mashed Potato Men from Mars anymore; Grape throws a fit because Peanut is playing a super-powered dog in a cape (despite Peanut's claim that Pridelands has no canines for him to play), in a setting that is probably rich with magic and mysticism anyway. It's entirely conceivable that they could all have a grand old time fighting against the Hyena Horde ("It's not incompatible!"), but things never progress that far because Grape accuses Peanut of breaking the rules.

The thing is that before, there were no rules. Everything was okay, and everyone was having fun. Remember that all of this, despite being in hyperreal sensurround, is supposed to be a game. That's it. About as serious as a round of Calvinball. Peanut expresses a willingness and even a desire to play along ("have fun with me"), even after all that's happened, but instead, he's made to feel like the odd man out because he's not respecting Pridelands canon. Lions in loincloths are obviously serious business.

So yeah, if I were him, my feelings would probably be a little bruised, too.

And that is the golden rule here: It became serious business.

We can't blame Peanut's way of thinking, but Grape should've known better. Peanut pretty much treated this whole event as pretend, but Max and Grape wanted the moment Tarot got involved was a serious roleplaying enviroment of their favourite series. It could've went nice and all, but the other problem was it wasn't communicated well enough and ended up where it was. It pretty much all was hunched, and they should've picked up on that when "Alternate Universe" was mentioned in my opinion. Maybe then, they could've discussed some ground rules before the plot became serious.

Computer, end program.

A little ways off here for a second, but wow, it seems lately like all of Housepets is becoming serious business. Let's review: We've got a cosmic prankster on the loose, a transformed Corgi with issues to resolve, a greedy nephew in possession of a supposedly priceless treasure map, and now Grape and Peanut are having an episode that, while currently on the level of a sibling fight, has the potential to get more serious if the wrong things are said. Does anyone else think the mood of the comic, particularly where arc endings and tension are concerned, has been on a somewhat slippery slope since November? :? Hm.......

Ok, in all seriousness, if this does turn out not so nice, what are they gonna do? Neither one of them can "move out" and leave the house, they're pets. They could give each other the silent treatment for a while, but that would change the dynamics of the Sandwich household, Mr. & Mrs. Sandwich would notice, and then there would eventually be intervention. I really hope all the fun stuff isn't going to end, though. I'll withhold final judgment until the end of the arc.

Housepets has always had a slice of life feeling to it, and it can sometimes be tough territory when dealing with emotional moments like this one. i'm sure everyone had similar feelings with King, Sasha and possibly Fido. With that being said, i don't think Rick really has done much to throw the comic off of it's current heart-warming style that he's known for, but the comic still manages to have it's impact when given.

As for Grape and Peanut, i'm gonna hold my tongue on this. all i can say is, 'moving out' would be silly since they don't really hate each other, they are just bickering like a brother and sister bicker.
