I'm not adorable OR frightening.

Oh hush, you know you're adorable.

If there's anything I've learned about the furry fandom, it's that every single broad, sweeping generalization is 100% factual.

I am not! At the very most, I am mostly not unattractive. Maybe with some softly handsome features.

A vocal minority of furries is very perverted. To maintain forum rating, we are to go to no more detail than that.

That's pretty funny, Russiarules. Too bad I cannot relate, though...

Being a furry must be fun. Being human is awesome, though! Especially since I am one who gets to hang around with fluffy friends. I like all of the furries I have met so far, but really, I guess at best I could be called a furry groupie.

I can definitely relate though.
I was actually in denial for quite some time before this, because unfortunately what I initially learned about furries are kinda disturbing, and the general society seemed to distance themselves away from them. And I hate being left out.

But the more I say no, the more I thought "Yes, you are one! Just admit it!"
In the end, after giving it a long thought, I conclude that there's no point in denying who you really are, even if people won't like you for it, so I gave my answer a few pages back here. And I gotta say, I never felt happier since =3

I grew up in the 90's... which is the decade after the rampant late 80's and I have been exposed to anthromorphicism as equally as human interactions. Dragonball Z and Disney did a number on me and every videogame I knew at the time had talking animals... Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon... etc.. so I just loved the ideas of humanized animals. Thereby defining me as a furry only somewhat... and then I found the fandom, destroyed my childhood coped, found all the nice furries in here and began to heal into a crystalized rabbit caccoon worm alien baby football... oranges... *dazes* yeah... so I'm a furry. *laughs*

Second that ^ Except that I am not a furry.
I mean, I grew up with some episodes of the Road Rovers, played video games of Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the dragon and others. Part of my childhood grew up with Sonic The Hedgehog and Dragonball Z (in Espan'ol), and others.
I mean, liking stuff like that makes me a furry? Or just judging me by the profile picture that I have?(Hammer and Sickle and a paw).
Meh, whatever...

Mine is a little shorter and less thought out.

Saw Dragonheart (I think thats the right movie) and thought "movies need more talking dragons".
Saw an furry drawing
searched furry *shutters*
Searched furry AGAIN.
Found Housepets!
Turned into a raccoon.

That's about it.

Yeah, I would say that the fandom is sort of a way to cope with one's shattered childhood.

That's not what I meant. I just mean that lots of furries end up accidentally seeing things they wish they wouldn't. Let's please not go into detail.

Because most childhood things involve animals. Who knows why.

My childhood has yet to be ruined, thankfully. Other than silly pictures such as that Dugtrio one, where it shows them underground, but that's nothing serious.

I think...the thing that started me on the furry path was a random series of transformation stories. Winds of Change. I still read through them every now and then. They were really good. Eventually, I joined DeviantArt because my friend kept pestering me to and found...the piece of art that really turned me on to the furry fandom.

http://silverpoot.deviantart.com/art/I- ... g-46831992 It's still my mousepad image (Was in a computer class, and we were allowed to make a mousepad with an image of our choice. I chose this one, but it's all arranged wrongly).

Never really thought about it too much. I preferred the "anthro" artwork, as my friend called it. Eventually learned it was called furry, heard the uh...lesser parts of the fandom (of which we will not mention), but still never thought much about it.

Naturally, no one truly knows because I don't think it's something I need to straight up say. Any forum or IM avatars of mine have almost always been a cartoony looking animal of some kind, ever since ~2007.

P.S. rofl long post.

P.P.S. I found my old writing, my first attempts at fanfiction. Oh my goodness it's horrible. I can't tell who's talking at all in the dialogue. And it's so short! I could never stand anything that short now, hahaha.

Skirting around "that part of the fandom we don't talk about" is still technically talking about it. There's no need to mention or dwell on those aspects and continuing to do so is not in anyone's best interest.

Also... yes, I am a furry.

Sleet, easy with the human word. It makes some of the newer and/or less furry members uncomfortable when you refer to non-furries that way, even if you're just joking.
