But yeah, I'm thinking that the ranks are real in a sense, like a higher rank dog would be able to boss around a lower rank dog. But a dog wouldn't boss around a human, I don't think. It just seems to me like the kind of thing that Rick would make.

The people may not want to admit it, but the Peta guy is right, the pets are a slave race.
altho most are treated well.

One thing i do wonder about.. Housepet's! is set in an "pet friendly area", which means that everywhere else is pet neutral or is a pet unfriendly area.

Wonder how bad it gets in the unfriendly areas??/

You guys look too deep into it. He's a sergeant, the probability of him being rule over humans rule is 1/1000000. It's just a title of ranks. Like if your the king, you're above the vassal, but everyone still listens to the pope now don't they?

Just as a comment on Sergeant Ralph, K-9 units are often given 'promotions' at milestones in their careers. I assume that's how it would be in the Housepets universe, too. Pretty much meaningless except among other dogs.

Or we could cut out all the guessing and just ask Rick. *laughs*

It's not like he avoids talking to people.

On a more relevant note, I really liked today's comic. Could Kevin be a rookie, with Fido as his FTO? Or is he just a little excited in chase situations?

I'd guess because he's so angry. When someone's best friend is kidnapped and almost killed by asphyxiation, I think it just might make them a bit emotionally charged against the people responsible, don't you think?

Indubitably! x3

Fido is behaving like anyone put in his situation would. He's actually showing a lot of self-control. Don't mess with a cop's friends, 'cause it won't end well for you. = P

Earlier, I didn't mean that we shouldn't speculate about the comic; just that Rick would probably answer the kinds of questions that were being asked if you really wanted to know. Excuse me. *laughs*

I don't really like the new background style too, the normal one was just fine. The speed paint gives me a weird feeling that the characters are out of place.

Okay, wow. Human Face. And a kid.
That's like one of the biggest surprises since I found out that Grape was a girl.

I'd speculate on this comic, but it looks like the comments have already taken care of that.

Anyway, I have a rather suspicious feeling that this won't be the last we see of Joel.

The background is good, but I think that when the characters are directly standing on it, they clash and look a little bit out of place (like Kevin in panel 3, and Joel and his pet in panel 4). Otherwise, it looks very good. Although, how would it fit for the rest of the comic? The background fits for this dramatic outside scene, but, if you imagined past comics with a new background in this style...I don't feel it fits. I mean, for example, what about the Easter arc? How would that look with this style of background? Would it fit? I don't know...

But yeah, interesting twist, and great comic.

Rick! You should know by now that doing topics about even vaguely serious topics prompts intense speculation and overreactions in fans! U: YOU MAY HAVE JUST RELEASED A MONSTER.

...what's that coming over the hill is it a monster
is it a monstaaaaaaaah

Seriously though
um
i'd say that's an achievement
this is a beast of a webcomic and though i'm four days early I'd like to say a happy one-year anniversary for housepets.
and what a dramatic conclusion
followed by the obligatory light-hearted send-off
I'd say you've got a lot to come, that's for sure.

That's a really, really I'm a loaf of bread with no raisins thing to do of them. Paypal has pretty much a monopoly on things like that. They can be ****s and get away with it I guess, but still, what the Bicycle Repair Man.
The only other services I can think of either want a membership for anyone to do anything in either direction, or pay for membership. I'm wondering about google's take on it but frankly I've never used checkout so i have no idea what it does or its rules.
Anyway I guess for now if someone wants to donate they have to do it in increments of either $22.94 or $25.13 (not counting shipping but that doesn't go to Rick anyway) and get an awesome shirt for it.

Edit: hraaaaaaah, self-censored a word that didn't censor because of the plural or because it's not in the library or something i dunno but self-censored either way U:

Ack; I should take down the merchandise thing because I found a new supplier (a supplier who is about a week slower so far) who I can do shirts through for only 18 dollars. I haven't done it yet because I have yet to receive my sample from them . . .

But yeah that happened. And I forgot to swap to . . . the different thing *shifty eyes* But it's probably for the best. You could ALSO donate by taking out ad space, though you'd be pre-empting someone who already took it out . . .
